Also, it appears he's fond of using the external sets more. I actually like this a lot, it adds a realistic quality to the show.

Are there any plans to introduce any new sets? Or use sets a little more than they're being used currently?

"The external set - the Square, Bridge Street, Turpin Road - is an amazing one to work with. I don't think we're enjoying the space as much as we could do. I think it could reflect a typical London suburb a little better and I also think that we could make it a more workable area. Coronation Street has the factory and Emmerdale have taken steps to replicate that but what we have on here is a thriving, busy and buzzing East-End market, so I'd like to see much more of that. We'll be using the external sets a lot more to showcase what the show's known for - and to take it back to its roots."

He seemed to hint at someone returning for Peggy's exit but it wasn't definite. I know some want Grant to return. I'm not sure if Kemp would go for that though.

He didn't say anything about Ricky and Bianca, did he? Or did I miss it? They've fallen off the map this year, and there doesn't seem to be anything in the pipeline. With Whitney also having less and less of a role I almost wonder if that family is on the way out.

Kris Green didn't ask him about those characters, so there could still be stuff for them in the future we don't know about.

Kris did ask one question I submitted on Digital Spy. God bless him, if not for him, we wouldn't get many of these interviews and leaks.

I just wondered because there hasn't been anything for them in ages. Even their wedding was often not about them.

Which question did you ask?

I was also wondering if there had ever been anything about that story teaser months ago where someone finds out he's not a father?

Walford Web is also doing an interview with Kirkwood soon, I wonder if they'll ask more about other characters and stuff that wasn't mentioned in the Digital Spy interview...

The one about his vision for EastEnders.

I am less and less convinced that they are actually going to put Christian and Syed together. I don't think they've ever worked well together, so that's not a big loss, but I do wonder what will happen after that. I can see them both being gone within a year.

Zsa Zsa is going to be a star, don't you forget it.

The Zsa Zsa line was sarcastic. I have never been too fond of her. She did seem to have a following at other boards but apparently not with Kirkwood.

Someone at DS said that she chose to leave, I don't know.

I am so dissapointed that Kirkwood got rid of Zsa Zsa. Despite her age i really enjoyed the character. Leon i don`t care about.

Kim returning is great news and I can`t wait for Grace to come into the program. I sense a new family coming soon.

'Enders postponed after politics special

Tuesday, May 11 2010, 5:15pm EDT

By Daniel Kilkelly, Entertainment Reporter

Tonight's episode of BBC soap EastEnders has been postponed until tomorrow due to special coverage of a dramatic day in British politics.

The Walford soap had been scheduled to air at 7.30pm as usual this evening, with Masood Ahmed's (Nitin Ganatra) attraction to Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) due to come bubbling to the surface once again.

However, the instalment did not air tonight as BBC One instead ran with a BBC News channel simulcast covering the resignation of Labor's Gordon Brown as prime minister and Conservative leader David Cameron becoming his replacement.

DS can confirm that the episode will transmit tomorrow at 7.30pm, with its BBC Three repeat following at 10pm.

Plans for Holby City, which was also removed from tonight's BBC One schedule, are currently uncertain.

Networks generally don't like to pre-empt shows - they avoid it at all cost (unless it's a filler show - but it's rare). It's not like in the US, where news reports interrupt shows about anything and everything (OK, that may be an over generalisation).

But seriously, some people need to chillax, and realize that EE was pre-empted for a very important reason; it's not like it was for a weather update, or something equally unimportant - it was for a change in government, and a pretty major, historical change at that. Some people need to get some perspective.

I'd be upset too if one of my faves were pre-empted for government stuff. Weather stuff, not so much. The weather is so unpredictable, so any way that's gonna tell many people all at once that a tornado or whatever is coming is necessary. The changing of the government, IMO, is not. That doesn't cause immediate and major change as it happens.
