I like Dennis too, I just think if you bring him back, let's have some exploration of who he was and where he was. The woman who played his sister Linda is still alive, and presumably is still healthy enough to act if she wants to. Bring her back for a visit. Bring in her sons, or grandsons.

It's sad that the show never even really did anything with the friendship Ken and Dennis had in the 60s.

I'm not sure if you've watched any of the 60s episodes Dennis was in, but he's so vibrant and alive. While I know that was fifty years ago, I wish we had some writing along those lines now for the character.

That's surprising. I know he wasn't a huge star, but he seemed to work consistently, and he didn't have fond memories of his Eastenders days, or at least I got that impression. He's marrying a dancer from Strictly Come Dancing (former dancer - she quit the show this year), so maybe he wants money to start a family.

I do like him, but I'm not sure how he'll fit in here. It's a good start that they aren't casting him as some relative or acquaintance of Dev's, which they have done with almost every South Asian actor over the last fifteen years, and which is a huge sinkhole.

Chris Fountain has been suspended for some of his raps on Youtube.

http://www.theguardian.com/media/2013/aug/16/coronation-street-chris-fountain-youtube-raps

There's a lot of "what's the big deal" type commentary, but this was dumb to do while he's on a big show.

They aren't editing him out of episodes, so he will probably be back.

Tommy has always been a bust, played by an actor who was clearly 5-10 years too old for the role. Another example of Collinson casting on name, not whether the show needed the character.

Speaking of that, rumors are Stella will sell the Rovers and the buyer turns out to be Steve. I think putting him back there is kind of a bore, but makes more sense than wan St. Stella, especially with Liz returning. I just hope they won't try to make Michelle into Bet Lynch again.

I think it's extremely OTT of the show to suspend him for these weird ass videos. The only offensive thing about those videos is his ego in thinking he should be allowed to rap, ever. He's still attractive and a great actor, he needs to stick to what he's good at.

Corrie is such a succubus behind the scenes right now.

I think he deserves the suspension as he's in 1 of our biggest shows, and Corrie( more than all other Soaps) is viewed as your traditional family show.

I hope they don't axe Chris though but think they might react harsher than normal, with the other off screen stuff atm.

ITV have terminated his contract.

I have to admit I'm surprised it went that far. Given Kirkwood's love for bringing back characters he once obsessed over, even if he has no plans for them, I wonder if Justin will return.

The show must be in real turmoil at this time. And the "press" over there, as always, tend to make it worse. Daily Mail has some bizarre article showing how this proves the show is near-extinction, and goes on at length about "political correctness" because of that weird anti-racism story.

I wish I was surprised that we tend to hear this once overrated media pet Phil Collinson - who destroyed most of what was left of Corrie - is gone.

What a dumb pig headed decision. I don't think they thought of him much outside of Tina anyway, which is an interesting gender role change of things at least. If he does come back to Hollyoaks, I hope the Justin/Ste friendship is explored again. It was one of my favourites. I don't see it happening though.

Supposedly she had said she wasn't happy with the commute anyway.

This never worked. The relationship with Leanne was forced and barely written for, she didn't make sense in the Rover's, and she just seemed dull. Every character Collinson pushed on the audience was a flop.

I will never forgive the show for making this dullard the centerpiece of Betty's goodbye episodes.

We're going to hear all about what a loss this is. Spare me.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.
