So basically I just got caught up on Hollyoaks. 7 months of episodes in 2 months. Winning!

I've finally found a soap that has me hooked. My only dislike is Lindsey got killed off (I literally sobbed lol) I adore Sophie Austin and I'm seeing rumors that she'll be going to Eastenders, which will get me tuned into 2 UK soaps

oh and I also cannot stand the character of Ste. <_< I really don't understand the appeal and he needs to get rid of those greasy curls STAT! Why Harry is so infatuated with him is ridiculous.

Oh, and Nico too. It's nice to have her causing trouble for characters I do like, however, I just haven't warmed up to her at all.

BIG shout out to the Lovedays. Particularly Simone and Louis. Hell, even Joanne's sneaky ass. When she glided in front of Louis' car I squealed. She's crazy.

Nancy, Esther, Cindy, Darren, Sienna, and JOHN PAUL  are my favorites.

Another shout out to Bryan Kirkwood for his music taste at the beginning of each episode. And production. I wish US soaps had the budget to mirror their style of production.

I also really love the inclusion of LGBT characters and they're actually driving story.

Great post. You should try Emmerdale, even if it's all over the place at the minute. I do like the idea of so many lgbt characters - I just wish so many of them were not so poorly written. I also agree about Harry. I don't get anything with why he wants Ste. I just tend to assume Ste has a big dick.

Anna really is just great. I started watching when she was with Ben so I didn't really care for her. They were like watching paint dry. But then they threw her with Trevor and suddenly I loved her! Really sad about Trevor too though. They should've handled it a tad differently. No man would walk into a wedding and marry his fiancée while secretly bleeding to death

A couple of random Hollyoaks thoughts:

- I thought Jennifer Metcalfe totally stole the show in the episode where Silas killed Lindsay.

- Real Lisa's arrival was ridiculously entertaining, great move casting Rachel Adedeji.

- So Ben sacrificed himself to save his substitute daughter, aka the girl who killed his actual daughter?! Dear God.

I’m sorry, but those scenes with Ste and a “high” Cameron were hilarious. I don’t really know how you could play those scenes, so I will not be too hard on the guy who plays Cameron, but - wow. Just...wow.

I know Ste isn’t very bright, but he’s spent most of his life surrounded by drugs, he’s dealt all kinds of drugs, he’s taken all kinds of drugs. He would know when someone is not actually on something. The stupidity of this character, and the stories they give him, continues to astonish me.

If they were going to go for a random, trashy storyline, they should have had Cameron lay pipe with Ste, get a guilt-ridden Ste to fess up to Leela and Harry, and then convince Leela and Harry that Ste was making the whole thing up because he’s bitter and depraved. It would make about as much sense, and it would involve the weird chemistry between Ste and Cameron being put to use...and it would involve Cameron being naked, which would automatically make the storyline better.

Oh, and who in the world decided that a man who cheated on partners again and again, at one point impregnating a woman and at another point getting HIV and exposing his partner to it, should EVER get to play morality place with a boyfriend? EVER? What a joke.

    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
    • On the subject of sets (seems more interesting to discuss than the actual show)  Some sets we don't see anymore Lauren/Michael apartment (haven't seen that in years) Victoria's house (are Marian/Tessa living there?) Apartment above Crimson Lights (I think Chelsea was the last resident) Penthouse (Lily's home) Chancellor Estate (Devon/Abby) Chancellor office (once Dark Horse) Nick's house GCAC room (used as residence/hotel room for several characters) Some of these may pop up again. The tack house, for example, was not seen for many months before being used again. Have I missed anything?
    • Thanks for searching through everything. Worked on them so long, just too lazy to check for those links myself, so I am glad you chose to do it! I guess I never did type out anything for 1973-1977 in regards to the preemptions, but they are on the charts at least (and this far back, they don't seem to do any of those "breakouts" anymore, so things are simpler in the 1970's, so eventually I could type those out).
    • I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.
    • The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.
    • Add Dr. Montgomery to list of fine women on this show! I hope the show goes forward with Madison/Chelsea and then once they're developed, bring back Allison, who is now divorced or a widow, for a Madison/Chelsea/Allison triangle.  It would definitely be the hottest triangle in daytime.
