Hey you and I are singing in the same choir. I think Ron C. is overrated and overhyped. The show did drop into the tank before the strike. He's an OK writer, but he not the "soap god" that he is touted as being. It's like singing his praises has become a fashion statement. So yep, yep on that one.

I also agree on AMC and that really makes me angry. I don't watch OLTL any more (I was part of the 2.2 and then quit   ) , but I was really enjoying AMC when Jesse/Angie came back. Now it's back to the same ol same ol. That makes me made. The show is a hot mess.

I was actually thinking that ATWT was gonna go down because this show makes no sense. Holden/Carly = GAG! I am really not liking Noah.............

GL will keep on loosing its viewers and its sad because its the longest running soap. :(

ABC going down...Not a surprise. But I really wanted AMC/OLTL to go up or stay the same. ABC has been in the 3, 4, 5 spots......UGH.......

Y&R going up. Thats a surprise. It does not deserve that bump. This show makes no sense..............

Yup, "soap god" is a good phrase for it. I got some heat(from some hunky people :P ) that I dont watch the show so I can't comment on it. Ummm...I have SoapNet to watch it. :D While there are some good things. There are still bad stuff. I still dont get all the Gigi love. I think she is one of the worst characters on OLTL. The actress hasnt improved at all from her times at Days. She still delivers her lines the same way she did at Days. Just one example of what i dont like about the show.

And why is Erica still in jail?? Does anyone care for this story? Do we care she in jail? They need to spring Erica out and give her a storyline. CM needs to exist AMC. The show can survive without him.

I understand where you are coming from. I know that AMC is not the best but as my home soap I want it to do well in the ratings.

The last time AMC actually was good and made sense was the last two weeks of May. During the Angie/Jesse wedding. Thats the AMC I fell in love with.

I think the only thing that prevented it was the Hughes/Stewart scenes. I could be wrong. I am waiting for Toupsy to post the ratings to find out which days did better. I dont like Noah either.

We all want that. :lol::P

Yup, all the soaps blow now including OLTL. It's just OLTL blows less than ATWT and Co. I still stand by previous quotes. The man got way to much hype way to early. The show is better...good...great...excellent.....but it sure isnt reflecting in the ratings. And thats a fact!

I am not even talking about true indications or whatever.....I am saying the ratings arent up after all the hype...I didnt say the ratings werent flawed......Not one soap on right now has WOW ratings or even mediocre ratings...all of them suck. GH's 2.1 is easily beatable. So them sitting at 3rd is no biggie.

The soaps are at the point where it doesn't matter what characters are featured or if the writing is good or bad or average. The audience is simply not there any more. The women in the desired demos aren't home and if they are, they are not watching soap operas. The mid-30 and over are probably watching any number of shows that include the Food Network and HGTV programming. The younger women are playing video games, chatting on their cell phones, surfing the web or studying.

    • The Duprees not having any staff is a bugbear for me. They've included the background staff at the Country Club but no one at the Dupree home. Even just an extra bringing in a tray of food/drinks or responding to a request from Anita would suffice.
    • Shut up, Dante and Lois.  I actually don't mind this particular soap trope, but in the context of this storyline, it just feels forced and unnecessary. If anything, this Dante/Gio tension needed to begin months ago. Plus, this storyline, in general, isn't doing Lois any favors either.  Emma comforting Gio was really sweet though. It's definitely time for the two of them to have their first kiss. And, Joss playing Secret Agent Barbie will just never work.
    • Note to makeup - Smitty’s eyebrows, bad clamshell look.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
