I think they should have made her Jake's wife Carolyn instead.

Carolyn would have at least made some sense... TIIC wouldn't want to do that!

This is a joke, right? If this is a sign of things to come, I'm frightened. I've got a feeling Pratt's outlook is bedamned history and his aim is to totally reinvent the show. Just 1-1/2 years shy of the show's 40th anniversary, the show should be embracing its past now more than ever.

This is completely going to flop.

And I bet, to make matters worse, Taylor will have some past with Special Ops Devane.

I liked Thorsten Kaye's idea for Beth a whole lot more. They should have listened to him.

Seriously the only thing people have to say in support of Pratt is that he wrote for Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty...which isn't even true. He didn't write for them. I'm pretty sure those shows did well in spite of his association with them, not because of it.

First I'd like to say welcome BETH ETHLERS!!!!!!!Secondly they have made pairings of actors who have been couples on other soaps and its flopped lets not go that route amc. While my preferred soap opera is GENERAL HOSPITAL I could get GUIDING LIGHT at 9am and would watch her on there. She is a good actress and I enjoy her tremendously. So she will be real treat to watch. But with Pratt at the head we are in trouble here.Just like GUZALUZA who he wrote with on GENERAL HOSPITAL back into the 1990's to the mid to late 2000's he is the one that helped to make what GENERAL HOSPITAL is today CRAP!GUZALUZA is just continuing on with the tradition here.

I HATE FRONZ!!!!!!

Beth has an interview in the new SOW with Hinsey, she says when she signed her contract it was for her to play Liza, then they came to her and asked her if it was okay she not be Liza.

She said Liza is a character everyone knows, but is glad she didn't have to play her cause she feels she'd be limited by her history and she wants to make her own character

She also talks about coming to pick up her stuff at the GL studio with her kids, and they wouldn't let her in the building and they had her "credentials" removed

They also had her listed as "requires escort"

Beth talks about how her kids asked what was going on she told them they had to come back tomorrow and her kids said "I think they're just mad that you're not staying"

Me: Beth has some smart kids LOL

And, if there was ever any doubt how involved Frons is, she says that she's not Liza because Frons didn't want her to be Liza, and Taylor is blue collar because Frons wanted her to be blue collar. Basically, although she also mentions Pratt briefy, it sounds like Frons is mostly responsible for developping Taylor.

Now I actually agree with those decisions by Frons but I hate how involved the man is.

Also, and this was rather disturbing to me, BE says that the production changes that have been made to GL will also be made to AMC, but hopefully handled differently. God helps us. And let me guess, AMC will be the only ABC soap that has to scale down its production model.

When Frons hand picks an actor or actress to come over to one of his soaps, I think that is the only time he really gets involved. Michael Easton, Kelly Monaco, Throsten Kaye, Beth Elhers, Laura Wright, the ones who he takes....Otherwise for non name brand actors, I think that the EP's and Hw's do that work.

I am aware that some I named were already with ABC but it doesnt negate my point. ;)

Thorsten Kaye Joins ABC Daytime's "All My Children"

ABC Television Press Release - April 6, 2004

ABC Daytime has cast current Daytime Emmy Award nominee Thorsten Kaye in the contract role of Zachery Slater, a Las Vegas casino owner, in the Daytime drama "All My Children." The announcement was made today by Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime. Mr. Kaye's first episode will air on May 20, 2004.

"I am thrilled to again be working with Thorsten Kaye and welcome him to the 'All My Children' canvas. Thorsten's incredible talent and established appeal are certain to captivate our audience as his storyline unfolds," says executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers.

Thorsten Kaye joined the cast of ABC's "Port Charles" in April 2000 as Irish doctor Ian Thornhart, a role that garnered the actor a Daytime Emmy Award nomination last year and yielded his current nomination. Mr. Kaye is also well known to ABC Daytime fans as irresistible poet Patrick Thornhart of "One Life to Live," a role he played from 1995-97. He has worked in a number of television series, including "Sliders," "Law & Order," "Nothing Lasts Forever" and "Air America." Mr. Kaye has appeared on the London stage in such plays as "The Winter's Tale," "Love for Love" and "Tartuffe." A seasoned Shakespearean actor, he has performed in "Macbeth," "Much Ado About Nothing," "Hamlet," "Love's Labour's Lost," "Twelfth Night" and "The Taming of the Shrew," among other productions.

After working with David Worth ("Bloodsport") in the film "The Prophet's Game" -- starring Dennis Hopper -- Mr. Kaye re-teamed with the director in the thriller "Shark Attack II." He has also appeared in the feature films "The Silencers," "Deadly Desire" and "The Bone Collector."

An avid rugby player, Mr. Kaye played throughout Europe before enrolling in graduate school at Wayne State University. Upon earning his masters degree in theater and theater history, he joined the Hilberry Repertory Theatre Company in Detroit. He has also published a book of original poetry, entitled "From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens," with Dorothy Bridges, widow of actor Lloyd Bridges. Proceeds from the book, which accompanied a CD release of the same name, go to Give Kids the World, a charity for sick children.

"All My Children" celebrated its 34th anniversary in January 2004. The program has successfully maintained its popularity and continues to be one of Daytime's most compelling dramas. "All My Children" took home the 1998 Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, the third time the show received this honor, having also garnered the award in 1994 and 1992. The show has received three consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series Writing, three Writers Guild Awards, and this month will receive its third GLAAD Media Award.

Created by Agnes Nixon, "All My Children" premiered on ABC on January 5, 1970, as a half-hour show; seven years later it expanded to an hour. Julie Hanan Carruthers is executive producer, Megan McTavish is head writer with Conal O'Brien, Casey Childs and Angela Tessinari directing. "All My Children" is produced in New York and airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (1:00-2:00 p.m., ET), on ABC.

Since when does ABC and Frons do press releases for actors going to soaps, like they are writers or Executive Producers? Never! I could picture it now. "John Brotherton to OLTL, Daytime Prez Brian Frons announces!!" Right.

That right there is a list of Port Charles cast members who Julie worked with also. Did she bring them to AMC? Did Frank bring Michael Easton to OLTL? Did Jill bring Kelly Monaco to GH? No! The common denominator here is Brian Frons. Just because Julie worked with Thorsten doesnt mean she brought him on and as you put it, it was ALL her. Easton, Monaco, and Kaye were former PC's stars who were loved by not, Frank, not Jill, not Julie, but FRONS. You said he had NOTHING to do with it? Yeah right, he had EVERYTHING to do with it, hence the big ass press release, and not just a nod in the coming and goings section in SOD. ;)

I hear that the role Beth passed on Y&R was that of Paul William's sister, Patty.

She passed up a better role IMO. But I understand she wanted to be closer with her kids too, and RPG of course.

Yeah, those actors who do that bi-coastal thign with their families are just asking for trouble. I'm not sure it's ever worked long term - for the job, or for their marriage/kids.

(Naturally, I say that, and I'm sure eight people will have at least twenty different examples of how it has. :P )
