I am actually shocked. That was a great 20 or so minutes of television. Everyone stepped up to the plate, from the acting, to the direction, and yes even the WRITING was on par for once. I hate that William DeVry is gone from the show now, but it's about time a soap opera did something SHOCKING and COMPELLING. Right now THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL has the BEST DRAMA SERIES EMMY in the bag. And Jennifer Gareis Emmy Reel is COMPLETE! I rarely give kudos to Brad Bell, but today, was just remarkable. I haven't seen something this heartbreaking from an ENSEMBLE since Cassie's Death on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS!!!

OMG, this is possibly the best single episode I've seen on a soap all year long so far. It was definitely Emmy worthy, and B&B does appear to have a more ensemble feel to it again, which is only a good thing. If they can pull another episode like this off soon, I don't see how they can be denied an Emmy (even if there appears to be a bias against 30 min soaps these days, and B&B is the only soap using that format).

Y'know...they had me till the end with Brooke's slo-mo rush to Storm's room, Storm's convienent slumping out of camera sight, and Brooke somehow squalling that Storm had given Katie his heart by simply looking at her picture in his hand.

And while KKL really got me (even JW with his stony reserve...) Gareis just sucked.

But I did like most of the episode, it's far and away the best B&B episode since Felicia "died". Those pics, flashbacks and music really set the mood.

Disagree. Everything was set up beautifully. Gareis did NOT suck. The girl looked a MESS, tears everywhere, speaking compassionately. No way can I fault JG for this episode, she was right on the target. The slow motion rush is actually what got me.

Wow!!!! That was one of the best B&B episodes I've ever seen. The music, the acting, the fake-flashbacks......my eyes started to get watery. :(

Sadly, it will. It's a B&B tradition to be good, bad, good, bad, good, bad, etc.

) Anyways... I did really feel disgusted by Eurovision this year and I doubt I'll watch this horrific musical torture in the future. My ears and my psyche will not survive.
    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
