Members Soapsuds
Yeah it was Bart... As for Luke I think it was just Steven's flavor of the year...the writers never really knew what to do with Luke. Your scenario sounds great...Alexis always loved Luke....but Id have Adam more resentful about Luke being so close to Alexis....
Members amybrickwallace
It's probably a good thing the show ended before little Krystina entered the dating pool. With her screwed-up family, she already had the odds stacked against her for finding (not to mention BEING) a healthy romantic partner.
Members SoapDope
I wonder why Jack Coleman even took the role if he was just going to be uncomfortable playing it ? $$$ was probably the major factor, but why didn't he just try to get another part on some other show. ? He had to know what the character was all about when he signed on the dotted line. It's funny seeing how bleached blonde he and Ted McGinley were in the 80's and how today they have dark mousey brown hair.
Members amybrickwallace
Jack Coleman looked so...harsh in the role. Al Corley had softer facial features and a quiet demeanor, which I think worked for the sensitive Steven. Plus, I think he and PSM played off each other very well - very believable as siblings who were complete opposites but loved each other regardless.
Members SoapDope
I agree. I kind of wonder what John Erik Hexum would have been like as a recast for Steven ?
Members amybrickwallace
That's an interesting concept. He had guested on another Spelling show (Hotel, as a love interest for Emma Samms, no less) and worked with Joan Collins on the male model TV movie, but I think both of those occurred after Jack Coleman had already been cast as Steven. Maybe if he had been given a role on Dynasty - any role - he wouldn't have gone anywhere near a prop gun. Can you believe later this month marks 30 years since the freak accident that took JEH's life? Wow.
Members SoapDope
Yes, John Erik was doing the Voyagers series during Jack's first season of Dynasty. They could have dumped Jack since he stank in the role anyway. It may have been weird though after he did that Male Model film with Joan where they were sleeping together and then see them as mother and son on Dynasty. I can't belive it has been 30 years since his death. Yes, Dynasty may have kept him away from a prop gun. Here is what he may looked like as a Carrington playing Polo.
Members amybrickwallace
Oh, he would have fit in perfectly as a poor little rich boy on the show. You're right - I didn't even think of Joan Collins being Steven's mother when I mentioned the male model movie. Yeah, that probably would have squicked people out. LOL
Members KateW
Wasn't Jon Erik Hexum considered for Dex, but instead Michael Nader was cast?
Members amybrickwallace
I don't know, but had he lived, Jon-Erik might have made an interesting Miles Colby on The Colbys (with all due respect to Maxwell Caulfield).
Members SoapDope
Yes, he would have been great as Miles too. I can't believe Jon Erik was not snapped up for a regular role on a primetime soap.
Members amybrickwallace
Had he lived, he'd be nearly 56 now. The accident occurred on October 18, 1984, and he was taken off life support a few days later. It is a missed opportunity that Aaron Spelling didn't cast him on a regular role on one of his shows.
Members SoapDope
Such a tragedy. He had his whole life ahead of him and it was cut short by a mistake. I thought Aaron would have snapped him up after the Male Model film.
Members amybrickwallace
Exactly. Actually, he would be almost 57 now had he lived - he was born in November 1957 and passed away in October 1984. Members SoapDope
He didn't see his 27th birthday. How sad.
