The only time I actually liked the character of Carly is when Tamara Braun played her. I thought Sarah Brown did a good job with Carly but I didn't like the character. She managed to make me feel sorry for Carly once and that was when she was walking in the rain to the FOD announcement party. Other than that I only liked her and Sonny as a package. I liked Laura Wright as Cassie on GL but I don't really care for her interpretation of Carly. I don't do filtering well so I can't just ignore everything I've seen Carly recently do and drum up sympathy for her because she's upset. They should have toned Carly down weeks before this.

Go KATE! Putting Lulu in her place like that had me cheering. Who the hell is Lulu to think she can prevent a possible mob war from starting? Kate was right, Lulu really is a spoilt twentysomething who thinks the world starts and ends with her.

Don't s-say that! don't you EVER say THAT!

SHOW ME THE PICTURE!

:(

I mean gosh is there even a comparison? Braun was a brilliant actress who knew how to work her scenes. Her Carly was real and she was believable. Seriously Wright needed to take notes. She has yet to do a scene with one thousandth of that emotion within her. The two aren't even comparable. ew.

LMAO! Just watched on SN and Kate going off on Lulu was the highlight of the week.

Loved Jason and Sam's scenes and thats a surprise since I usually hate them. I saw some of that old connection they once had and it was good seeing them civil for a change

Wasn't that great??

Lulu: "I would just like a little compassion, okay. I was late this morning because I was helping my family and trying to prevent a mob war from starting. Sonny is going to blame Johnny Zachara and I know he didn't do it."

Kate: "And did you accomplish your mission of mercy, Lulu? Tell me what gave you the impression that a grieving mother sitting vigil with her brain injured son could benefit from your counsel and advice. And did you think that this so called mob war can be stopped by a spunky little know-it-all? Tell me how were your noble efforts received today, Lulu? Did you set everyone's priorities straight? Did you accomplish anything at all? You know you can consider yourself so independent and original but it’s almost amusing that you don't see yourself the cliche that you really are - a typical spoiled twenty-something that thinks the entire world begins and ends with her."

GO KATE!!!!!!!!! :)

it made me ball.

and i am a huge fan of LW as carly. i lvoe LW and think she plays carly exactly how she is written and gh wants her played. now if that makes her the most amazing actress is up for discussion, but she is doing her job. i would much rather them play what they are suposed to play then try and change it and throw everything off like soema ctors do.

also, i think tams had a greater advantage in both the way carly was written, as a woman who was torn between right and wrong and kenw it and tried to do better but never could manage vs a smug whinny selfish shrew who cares about no one but jason - and in acting partners. now i lvoe ingo, but int he past few years he has phoned in most scenes. ted king always stepped up and knocked it out of the park. and mo, well in those scenes and even overall when tams was carly he actually acted - jow he mumbled and stands there looking. comparing LW's carly and TB's carly is like compainf Laura Spencer to Sami Brady. they are such comp diff char's - and to be hoenst, even thoe show is comp diff.

I'm not the biggest fan of this Carly right now either. Not because of Laura Wright, but because of the way they've turned Carly into this unsympathetic whiny shrew. But I felt for Carly yesterday. Especially in the scene when Lulu was telling her it wasn't Johnny. You could tell she was just shocked and disgusted that Lulu would even talk to her about the mob stuff right outside the hospital room of her comatose son. It was so disgusting! And the look on Carly's face said it all. The way she just looked at Lulu and then walked away said more than any screaming or yelling or talking would accomplish.

Jason was amazing today as well. His scenes at Michael's bedside were great. If Liz changes her mind now I think it might kill him. What a horrid situation. And I just love Rick Hearst. I think he is way underated. His scenes with Kate were perfect. Comparing how he knows how she feels. Loved it.

And definitely the highlight of the day was Kate calling LULU on her crap. LOVED THAT!!

Mary Sue Price wrote yesterday's episode. I'm not as familiar of her work as, say, Karen Harris, but I was impressed. Mainly because of all the different people interacting with each other who wouldn't normally interact.

-Ric and Kate was unexpected and proved that Rick Hearst has chemistry with pretty much anybody.

-I liked the unspoken moment of understanding between Liz and Sam.

-Laura Wright toned it down and her effectiveness as Carly soared WAY up. The way her look hardened as she realized ShrewLu was only after one thing -- protecting Yawny. Spoke volumes! And underscored once again why I despise that selfish little excuse for a hair weave Lulu.

-Lulu beatdown by Kate. Yes! Long time in coming!

-LOL. The little boy playing Spencer was so cute. I couldn't tell if he was scared of the horse or of Tyler Christopher! Speaking of TC, Nadine is sweet but TC needs to be more present in his scenes with her.

-JACKIE ZEMAN! Bobbie was so maternal and tender with Carly and while I am not LW's biggest fan, these two have great mother-daughter chemistry. And then, later with Luke, Bobbie's anger and frustration at the whole situation spilled out. It was the "Barbara" that Luke knows best -- and we the audience used to know.

And when she said it would almost have been better if Michael had died, it was a rather shocking statement but it didn't come from a place of cruelty but rather understanding. Wow, that was such a good scene, and it again makes me ask why, WHY are there not more scenes involving Bobbie. Either at the hospital or in Carly's life. Or how about a story in her own right?!

[/rant]

Sorry. I found some episodes of Stone's death and Jason & Robin's first kiss on my computer yesterday and I've been pining for Old Skool GH ever since!

    • Am I the only one who hates how this show treats Claire? She's a glorified extra This girl comes from stock the granddaughter of the shows 2 biggest supercouples and they treat her like she's a throw away. Her pop pop is dying/dead and her other grandpa is saved awoken from his coma, alive because of the selfless heroic actions of her maternal grandpa

There is no reason why she wouldn't be here to say goodbye. Olivia Rose isn't doing anything I bet she love to come back and say goodbye. I just don't understand the motivation & thought process when it comes to some decisions. This show is probably still salty about how they didn't succeed in trying to assassinate Claire, on the alter of her dicktimized bird brained aunt & her serial killer boyfriend/husband with the audience.  Also unless they're keeping it under wraps Sami not being back in time to say goodbye to John is a huge fumble. If it had to do with Ali availability then they should've pushed back the fallout of Johnny learning about his sperm donor raping his mother and the subsequent confrontation with Elvis & Sami to conceded with John's coma & death so Sami/Ali were here for it. It's just a huge piece missing from this. As much I hated Sami's overdramatic looney tunes treatment of John long after she was in her 30s, became a grandma, her & John had one of the best dynamic complex heartbreaking father/daughter relationship's on both daytime and the show. It would be full circle as John's end of watch nears, that Sami apologizes for her treatment of him & admits she does love him. He was just as much as a father to her as "Roman", in a impossible situation that turned everyone lives upside down(The 2 Romans, Roman Intitial Death, The Affair)through no fault of his own. How fitting if she called him dad one last time & how thankful she is for his unconditional support and love. He squeezes her hand one last time, calls her Samantha and finally let's go after hearing the words he spent decades longing for in my eyes
    • So around '84 is when things get bad?
    • There are details through the thread, but yes, as mentioned, she hated Ellen Wheeler, and lambasted her for crying a lot, for her decisions with firing and Peapack, etc. Back in the day she also hated Pam Long, who created Reva and gave Reva all of her best material. The producers or writers she liked most seemed to be those who saw Reva in the most generic of molds, although she likely doesn't see it that way. She was OK on OLTL; I think @Vee could probably give a better summary. She was earthy and added her usual hard work to some trash material. There was nothing special going on, as yet again with patron saint Carlivati it was all plot, no character, and he cared more about writing for a cutesy child character.  You're right about what they could have done with Reva. Reva, Erica, and any women who are in story long enough face this problem. The biggest difference is Reva was allowed to age (even with the post-menopausal baby), which Erica was not.
    • Cali was the only Paulina for me on AW.  Was Judi Evans such a “name” that Cali was fired for her?  Judi basically played an entirely different character.  She could’ve been Nancy!
    • They were great together. Barbara was way too high maintenance for any man. You know Henry divorced her a$$ after about a year.  And, here’s an example of what I was talking about…
    • I watch every day as well, and I am enjoying the show. There's always room for improvement. TBH, things are much different from what I expected reading the character breakdowns. That could be a good thing! I'm willing to let them find their groove and figure out what kind of show it wants to be. The core and underlying theme. -I echo what a few others have said: The show is lacking in real romance and cross-starred lovers. But that tracks from (MVJ) experience cause the bell soaps are not good with romance IMO. -I have a feeling it's being built before our eyes, but we're missing that rival family. -I would prefer more variety of storylines. Good ones that could weave together the whole town.   -I struggle connecting to the male characters. So I hope they get a clear handle on them soon. Most of them feel underwritten and one-note. -Find a better purpose for Naomi. I fear she will be the first Dupree dumped. I completely agree. June's story does nothing for me. And what if she turns out to be Tyrell and Samantha's mom? They are very close to leaving high school. why should I care? If she turns out to be related to Hayley also, what's the long-term story, and why should I care? I believe Hayley can work on her own as a vixen. Does she need a sounding board? Sure, but you can accomplish that with an outsider's friend group. I didn't think I would be saying this, but I would entertain Kat having a forbidden affair with Jacob. Both Naomi and Jacob need something to do other than case-of-the-month storylines.
    • That would really just be a redux of the Leslie/Eva story. I really hope they don't go there. My guess for the storyline with Anita that we have "never seen before on daytime" is that it may be a "me, too" story. Anita did unspeakable things to get ahead because of some disgusting producer, and the other person she left behind was a boyfriend who cared about her very much.
    • Reva and Zimmer needed strong adversaries/scene partners. It would dampen the negatives associated with the character and Zimmer's self-admitted excesses. I think that's why she was a bust on SB. I don't know how she did on her return to OLTL because I was not watching at that point. The problem for me with Reva is the same situation with Erica Kane. It ended up being variations of the same storyline year after year. I think if the show had truly broken up Reva and Josh and put them in other viable relationships it would have freed up the characters to have better storylines and character growth. Instead, it's as if the characters were stuck for decades.
    • I am still behind and know what upcoming week you are talking about.

And I know I'm not ready and have not been since the official news. That was my first couple on that show. You won't be alone.    When you put it like that...same. Like I say in the thread when I'm more interested in what people are wearing than the stories...red flag. No momentum. Just stalling.      lol.
