Members Liberty City
That... would have been an interesting recast. In recent interviews... I feel like, for her, it came down to not liking the dialogue and being critical of the acting, which is valid from her perspective. And she's entitled to that... plus, I hate to say it... but her boyfriend being fired must've stung, too, and they kept her in her deal because of her pauses. I think Eileen Davidson⏤while a wonderful talent⏤was miscast as Kelly Capwell. I think they tried to re-create Terry Lester's casting as Mason with Davidson as Kelly... and it bombed. So hard.
Members DRW50
Eileen is an extremely cold performer. The antithesis of what Kelly should have been.
Members Liberty City
I just think the Dobsons made a mistake in recasting the role simply because Marcy Walker left the role of Eden. Carrington Garland was beloved as Kelly, and truly made the role her own against Robin Wright.
Members Contessa Donatella
I don't know if that, about Robin, was incorrect, or if it has changed. But, now she speaks glowingly about Santa Barbara & she has several Santa Barbara playlists she curates on YouTube. And, she has some really great videos!!! I was shocked when I found them, just a few months ago. If you're interested, they are easy to find.
Members DRW50
They chose a name over a character, which is a shame.
Members Liberty City
Mhmm; seemed like they did that a lot to misfire.
Members chrisml
The Dobsons and Rauch made a lot of idiotic decisions during the Dobsons' return, but firing Garland was so ridiculous. Along with firing Sorel and Gocke. The Dobsons didn't understand that they had to appeal to the people who kept watching the show. Instead, they insisted on changing so much that it alienated a lot of those viewers. I also wonder how much of it was Rauch and the backstage shenanigans that was going on.
Members Paul Raven
Was there any other role around that time that Eileen would have been more suited to? Or a character that could have returned played by Eileen?
Members Liberty City
Maybe Flame? Knowing how she handled Kristen DiMera, I think Flame would have worked at some point in time.

Members Aback
Thanks. I appreciate the clip. However the 90's (and SB's) obsession with r4pe is just something else... I am afraid I can't stomach it any longer.
Members John
Robin Wright was upset that in order to do Princess Bride, she had to extend her deal from June 1987-June 1988. Edited August 6, 2024 by John
Members Contessa Donatella
NBC really took advantage of her in that deal. She wanted it so badly & I guess they pushed the envelope as far as it would go.
Members Chris 2
Depends on how you look at it. They gave Robin Wright four months off on very short notice (she was cast in the movie about a week before filming began). They asked for an additional eight months on her contract in return, not including the four months she missed. They could have just as easily have said “No, we’re not disrupting production on such short notice.”
