I hate Scott more everyday. So tired of always angry. It is so boring! And it's funny, because I did watch once in a great while. I knew who Scott was back then and didn't mind him. I sort of knew stories, not well, but sort of knew. I just wasn't aware of how angry he was.

Anyway, I just watched the credits for episode 1152 (or 1151?) They actually had a psychic consultant! The 80s were so weird. No wonder gen X is weird too. I embrace my weird, but I gotta call it.

And more on weird: I love Mason. I love the quipping dude. I love the Shakespearian quotes. I loved Gina's daydream about being Frankenstein's Bride and bringing back Sonny. But it's Lane Davies as Frankenstein's Monster who sits up and quotes Richard III. Things like that are why I loved this show.

Some months ago, the last episodes I saw was Kelly telling Eden and Cruz about her miscarriage.

Robin Wright and Marcy Walker delivered wonderful performances in those scenes. But everything else was so bad so I quit the show. Maybe I will try to watch again soon. But most of the stories were really bad at that time.

It's still pretty bad. 88 and 89- I didn't mind the story with Pamela. I didn't mind the initial story with Mason going to the convent and then Julia.

Bits and pieces of Gina and Bunny I didn't mind.

But hated everything else until Robert Barr came at the fall of 1989.

(Neutral on the rape storyline, never watched it).

I just... don't feel anything towards them. And the forced nature (via executive production and writing) is so off-putting. I found other Cruz-potential pairings and Eden-potential pairings better than this so-called love story being told. It has always been my believe Joe & Kelly should have been the soap's golden couple. But, the [mis]recast of Joe just destroyed that pairing for good.

Now, you really watched what I call a "custom" version of SB since you completely blocked out the rape, the biggest storyline of, what, two years? You did yourself a favor. It is SO hard to watch.

Well, good for you. It really is a case of being force-fed! Your resistance must have been strong! SB to a large degree was couples - Cruz & Eden, Julia & Mason, Lionel & Augusta, to name some.

Well I'm a Cruz and Eden fan, but even I found their storylines in 88 and 89 unwatchable, until Robert came. And I hated all the sentimental stuff.

For me actually the decline in their storylines started as soon as Elena died in 1987. It was sort of this gradual slide down into crap lol.

I did also like Robert and Eden quite a lot and wish they had taken that pairing further.

Yeah that was why I skipped it, I don't usually watch stuff like that, it has an impact on me. But I may try again when I get to that point.

I didn’t mind Cruz/Eden but I didn’t find them compelling to watch either. They were too saccharine for me and it did seem like Eden was destined to be a messier character when she first debuted so I got bored with her after a while. When it came to the show’s bigger pairings, Mason/Julia, Lionel/Augusta, and Keith/Gina were much more fun to watch for me.

I don't mind Cruz and Eden. I like them. Not a fan of baby napping, because why do ALL of the babies on this show have to be kidnapped? There's only so much babynapping that can occur before the population of a city would start electing different people. I can see Nancy and Bob Smith sitting at breakfast. She asks what is in the paper. He answers, oh the most recent Capwell kid got kidnapped. She says Really. What is that, third or forth time? He says Yeah, we need to move.

I love Julia and Mason, Lionel and Augusta, even Kelly and Jeffrey (before TJ). My favorite is still CC and Sophia. I just don't care for the personality shift in her character. But I suppose it gave JM something to do.

    • Melissa Ordway announced she was moved to recurring back in November but is still credited with the contract cast members.
    • I think of Evan as a smarmy bast*rd. Maybe you'll like that description. You certainly have him pegged correctly since he is just a soldier following "Admiral" Iris's marching orders.
    • So far the only interest I've seen from Evan to Amanda has been listening to Iris's orders to go and seduce her.  So far he hasn't been successful... but who knows. Amanda is unbearable at times. Entitled, spoiled... idiotic. Iris... so blatantly manipulating her and Amanda takes the bait. But I guess... when she gets in trouble... she'll have a chance to learn. That's what makes these shows so interesting.    Oh, no, don't worry. You haven't ruined a thing. Evan has not been on my radar that much... he was not one of the characters I was caring particularly... so nothing much has been changed for me. I don't think he has the stuff to ruin Rachel's life. He's just a pretty guy that can follow orders. Iris on the other hand... is dangerous.

P.S Maybe Evan will surprise me. Who knows.
    • The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.
    • So very glad to hear this. Yesterday I suddenly thought; OMG, what about spoilers, have I just  ruined things for Maxim in getting carried away with interest in Evan, who was so well-written & well-acted. BTW, your fan review of this episode was a sight for eyes that had not seen one of these for a little bit too long, LOL!!!  Mitch is also fascinating to me but in his case it's because he was all in with Janice & her nefarious plan & then he did this turnabout we've mentioned & he basically got off scot-free.
    • It does seem cheap and lazy for this show to have just one family. Passions was heavily criticized but it was nicely structured with a total of four families.
    • I think it was definitely a surprising reveal in the storyline. I had a hard time appreciating Evan because I couldn't get behind his interest in Amanda. But that's because I never thought Sandra Ferguson made her a compelling character (although to give her credit she occasionally had decent emotional scenes with Mac or Rachel).
    • I'll even go further... I'll make her re-think BeLief and create a new patent. Brooke needs stuff to do. Anything other than beg or be in her panties. We need her to be creative. But sadly Bradley has a very low opinion of these characters. To him Brooke is nothing more than sex and scandal... or a pathetic doormat. Ridge is nothing more than a chauvinist pig that needs to pit women against each other to feel like A MAN and Steffy is nothing more than her father's guard-dog. I don't even want to open my mouth about Hope. She is such a fiasco in my opinion... I will not suffer if they kill her off. Bradley pooped on her character and now it's too late to fix it. Annika is great and I would hate to see her go, but slutty Hope was not her thing. The vibe was missing.
    • I've seen Jason interact with Mitch and annoy him. That's as far as I recall. I didn't even have a slight idea that Evan had a vendetta against Rachel... That came as a surprise to me. I thought Evan was Iris's dog and that's it. Now he's definitely more interesting.
    • Thanks for these. I can't recall -- did Evan's vendetta have any position on Mitch, or was it all about Rachel? @Maxim have you seen any Frames intreracting with Mitch in any way?
