I love all of this speculation. I agree about the miscast Perkins. They look related, but none of them were outstanding in these roles. (Not necessarily bad actors considering Melissa Brennan went on to be Jenn Horton Devereaux). They could have been a powerhouse family, but the acting always felt off to me. Even without an Augusta/Dad Perkins affair, there still could have been more for this family. Maybe some normal problems vs the OTT problems with the Capwells. A younger cousin delinquent come to stay to interact with Ted, or Christie, another female for Warren. Anything more interesting than what they actually were.

Even Jade the bubble head told Ted to leave her alone! Then he goes to jail and writes to her! Idjit! Boy has serious stalker potential. I feel bad for Christie. She knows what she's doing is wrong, but she is thinking jail is better than dead. Theda is gawdawful. Mary is so sanctimonious, but blind to reality. Mason calling her on it is awesome. It is gripping, but Ted has serious issues. Also, when Ted moves out and CC tells Sophia she always coddled him too much. Til he was 2? She coddled a one year old? CC You are another sanctimonious fart. As you so readily pointed out numerous times, you raised him.

And while I'm on a roll, CC has an aneurysm and his doc says he can't try for another baby with Gina. He's all upset that he can't have sex with his wife, but he was smooching on wife number 2 yesterday and telling her that she's the love of his life.

These people ALL need therapy, but all of the therapists in town seem to be evil.

And I LOVE IT ALL!

In one of Christie's last episodes before she left, she and Mary have a sister heart to heart.  Mary confesses her feelings for Mason, that she sees good in him and believes in true love while Christie clues Mary in on real life.  Mary even asks if Christie believes in happiness and love while Christie basically says no.  It was a good character study of both of them...and it's a shame that Christie was written out.  She had a lot of potential and would have been interesting to see how she dealt with life post the rape trial.

I think the Duvall's should have remained as a counterpart to the Capwells..since the Perkins were phased out by this point.

And Ted seemed to never have his peers stay on.  Jade/laken/danny were gone by 1986...and then Hayley/Jake with Laken briefly in 1986 to January 1988...and then Eva larue's character before he left in 1989.

I vaguely remember a scene where Mason was analyzing the family and referred to Ted as the “runt of the litter”. LOL - truer words were never spoken. I think it was in front of Ted too. Ted was actually well-written and cast - this soft, eager beaver type who seemed desperate to be liked.

I'm still at Ted's trial. The DA just collapsed.

Augusta just confronted Sophia about Channing. Louise Sorel is SUCH a powerhouse. TPTB truly were idiots to let her get away! She just told Julia about Channing and said she wants to kill Lionel. Julia said not to do anything drastic. And she quips I didn't think that was drastic, I thought it was the next logical step. And it hit me again how needed they are in this show. BUT it has to be the right writers. They HAVE to break your heart AND rip it out equally or it fails.

It also hit me that the irony of Santa Barbara is that the true fans don't necessarily consider the Golden Era to be the Best Show winning years.

Julie Ronnie was the prime Laken. She deserved more.

Switching the actors of Joe Perkins tanked the role, and since I doubt Robin Wright wanted to play opposite someone who wasn't Dane Witherspoon speaks volumes as to why Joe was killed off.

I believe, per her own words, Susan Marie Snyder wanted to do more with Laken, but the writing was not there to allow it.

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab the episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). The full HD version of ep.3170 is on YouTube channel:

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
