'90210' is officially a go at CW

Tyra Banks project also gets pickup

By Nellie Andreeva

It's official -- the CW on Sunday picked up the "Beverly Hills, 90210" spinoff to series.

The network also renewed comedy "The Game" and went for a full night of Tyra Banks/Ken Mok fashion-themed reality shows with the pickup of "Stylista."

"90210," from CBS Par, centers on a three generational Beverly Hills family. Original cast member Jennie Garth has signed on to recur, reprising her role as Kelly Taylor from the original series who now will be a guiding counselor at her alma mater, West Beverly Hills High.

Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, who rewrote the pilot script and are exec producing the pilot, are staying on as showrunners.

"Stylista," described as a reality version of "The Devil Wears Prada," features eleven aspiring fashion enthusiasts who are vying for a much-coveted editorial job with Elle magazine.

The project, which appears Wednesday-bound as a companion piece to Banks and Mok's "America's Next Top Model," was originally greenlighted in January.

The contestants will work as assistants to Elle's fashion news director, Anne Slowey, carrying out an assistant task and a fashion editorial assignment in each episode.

Like on "The Apprentice," each week, in consultation with Elle's creative director, Joe Zee, Anne fires one person, until the last assistant standing gets "promoted" to the real-life job opportunity.

The grand prize includes a paid editorial position at Elle magazine, a paid lease on an apartment in Manhattan, and a clothing allowance at H&M, all for one year, valued at $100,000.

"Stylista" hails from 10 by 10 Entertainment and Bankable in association with Magic Molehill Prods. and Warner Horizon TV.

Tyra Banks, Ken Mok, Eli Holzman, Desiree Gruber and Jane Cha are the exec producers.

The guy playing Dixon and the guy playing the teacher just rubbed me the wrong way. I've got no idea why but they did. Thanks Toups for posting! And I hope the new 90210's opening is like the original one and has its theme. It was too classic not to have it. I doubt it will be though.

    • Rewatching/binging THE X-FILES Seasons 1 and 2 (almost done). So much fun re-experiencing, especially re-discovering some of the monster-of-the-week stories. THE WEST WING Seasons 1 and 2 as well - so good to rewatch now with 20 years more life experience and understanding. ALSO.... lol FOOTBALLERS' WIVES Season 3, which is just as bonkers as I remember and so so so so fun. I had forgotten about that iconic season cliffhanger. Good times. Excited to rewatch Seasons 4 and 5 since I remember so very little about them.
    • @Toups Tyler Topits listed in alpha order with the breakdown writers 5/12 Monday episode. O'Connor still listed as both breakdown and script writer. Kreizman wrote today's script.
    • Marland was long gone by this point.  He quit in either August/September 1982. I think it was due to letting the actress play out her contract and use her for party scenes and/or scenes with Phillip/Justin.   I was surprised she was still on in June 1983 myself, because I figured she had been written out before Pam Long joined the writing staff. Thankfully, having episodes uploaded during this period on Spauldingfield YT site has helped to connect some of the dots.  It looks as though Pam Long starts the first week or so of May 1983.. and in those first few weeks: Morgan and Evie were both written off and Lillian/Mindy/Billy/Beth/Annabelle all come onto the show.

    • I can't watch until later (Canada issues). What is Philip's motivation for stealing the drug? Only plot I cared about today and you did not mention it
    • Doug III’s first day of work. Hope he does a good job… or that Tate tries to sabotage him somehow

His scenes with Holly were nice though. They’re sweet together and I understand why some people think that they have more chemistry than Tate/Holly do. And I liked that Doug III opened up to her about his past. Maybe that could lead to something good happening in the future.  I also enjoyed Roman and Kate, and how they’re both being tied into EJ’s shooting. The mystery of it all is really compelling. I don’t think Roman is the shooter though either.  I didn’t have much sympathy for Kristen though. She has no one to blame for Rachel’s problems than herself. But at the same time, I’m really surprised that Days actually remembered the Alex/Kristen fling. I thought Ron had erased that from existence. I’m not shipping them at all, but I’m definitely shipping a permanent end to Brady/Kristen but after today, I’m not so sure about that either.  And, Johnny and Chanel were still great together
