We The Undersigned Hate LML and DO NOT Want Her Rehired

There have been conflicting reports regarding LML and Y&R. As everyone likely knows I HATE the plot driven bitch. Thus, I have drafted this list of signatures just in case someone at CBS/Sony/Bell happened to check this board and could pass it along. The show has improved 300% since LML left due to the WGA strike. Griffith and Arena Bell have done a lot of good for this show and I can only hope that this continues.

Therefore, I will be the first of the undersigned to beg whoever might read this, PLEASE DON'T REHIRE LML!

Alot of us were sold on that hack early on, she had the influence and checks and balances though of the long time close knit Y&R staff. Once she started dismantling that staff and bringing in her people, including her own son and husband for god sakes, the show lost so much steam so fast and it just lost any shades of its former self. Y&R sunk down to the same level as the rest of daytime....

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I find the show a crashing bore these days. I think the show is in holding pattern until the strike is over, until either Latham returns or they get a permanent writing staff, and they've been trying to cover up the lack of story movement with as much filler as they can (Kay's flashbacks, singing auditions, beauty contests, etc). All shows have been doing this to an extent. The slow pace must remind a lot of fans of the Y&R of old, but the stories and characters are much weaker than most of what Bill Bell used to write. At least with Latham, the show moved at such a fast clip at times, that the show's weaknesses weren't as apparent. JMO!

I disagree. The Victor/Nikki divorce wrap up is some of the best writing not only Y&R has seen, but this GENRE has seen in years. Totally had me glued to the screen the entire month of January.

And the slow pace is exactly what Bill Bell and Y&R was always about and one of the many reasons Lynn Marie Latham failed so miserably here. Her reinvention of Y&R's story formula did not work what so ever. She tried to write Y&R as if it was an ABC show.....

That's exactly where I think she'll end up too, most likely on AMC :(

I heard they Marina crap was the last storyline of hers and they wrapped that up last week.

They may have been her outlines but the fi-core/scab team has completely made them watchable with sounder dialouge, tapping into the rich history once again and just instilling a newfound sense of hope on the show off and on camera. The actors seem to be rejuvenated as well.

I knew she was rainbow hack when she was getting rid of people who knew the way of Y&R. Then she start firing talented actress to bring CK & Nunu Colleen who both doesn't fit the part they was hired for. Then kept lying about what viewers wanted. Then she made Dru crazy. Dru might be crazy but she never became disturbing crazy. She waterdown Phylis to fit her in a romance with Nick. She doesn't do romance. She made these woman who once was strong weak that they need a man in their life. She didn't want to write for the whole casts but a select few.

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
