Honey I Shrunk The Ryan

Ryan should really take up his wife's advice to go see a shrink because it certainly is in the making. I mean, anyone who raises their fist to someone, participates in a fight club, kidnaps someone to a plane to have his blood drawn, allows Fish n Chips to hang a noose around somebody, pontificates about crap he knows nothing about, is in dire need of some Dr. Phil intervention or to just see a regular psychiatrist. This guy loves to also manhandle women and thinks he is just HIGH HO to do anything he can but dare anyone else to do it and they get the bug eyed stare of their life. I would, however, feel very sorry for the shrink that has to deal with someone of the likes of Ryan. Odds are that doctor would end up in a psych ward himself for at least a month since he would be feeling suicidal over having to hear about Ryan's moaning and whining. Lord knows what else he has done in his life that needs some professional help since I am sure St. Ryan did some thing in his Con Ho days that make him a few fruit loops short of a cereal bowl. Add to making them really extreme crap and he is one Krispy Kreme short of a baker's dozen. Add to that he is missing his own sprinkles and not able to actually look somewhat sane. Insanity is something that runs high in the Lavery family and odds are Ryan has something wrong with him since mental disorders run in the family. Mom and dad had some issues themselves so maybe he got something passed down from his dearly beloved mother or father. Something tells me it is from the father whereas from the mother he got his superhero genes to go defeat villains like the One Armed Penis Envy or one called Mr. Flatulence who can knock out anyone with a whiff of a fart. Hey that is something Ryan can do! He has his superhero cape shoved up his Dynamite Kiddo butt that whipping it out (thankfully he is not whipping out "his other thing") would knock everyone dead over the smell. Superman can stop a bullet, Batman has his gadgets to stop the evil Penguin and Riddler and Joker and Catwoman, Spiderman slings with his web. What is Super Ryan Dynamite Kiddo's power? Whipping out his crack infested cape to knock down the competition! Talk about inventing a new perfume!

DAAAAMN -- Debbi Morgan was on fire during those chapel scenes, praying to Jesse to let Frankie live. I love her!

I'm pretty much enjoying everyone and everything on this show right now, except nuBabe and the JR/nuBabe/Ritchie triangle. I even like Ryan!

I loved Pam's straight weave today...she was looking good. I enjoyed the playful Erica/Pam/Val scenes :)

Balance has been so great lately.

I liked everything Angie/Jesse/Frankie.

But the other stuff was pretty blah.

What the hell was up with Erica saying "''I'm a talk show host, not an accountant!''?! This from the woman who built and saved Enchantment a hundred times over? Good job, writers -- make Erica Kane, a once shrewd businesswoman, into an airhead. Please get her away from this New Beginnings nonsense...... PLEASE!

It was a great episode, imo!

I also love the balance lately and how something happens in just about every episode. It's such a relief after months of the same characters saying the same thing every single day during the "Crash" storyline.

Leave it to Adam to give JR a bug and pretend it was an heirloom. I'm glad he knows that Krystal is behind JR moving back into the mansion and I can't wait to see what he does next.

I can't blame Richie for manipulating Emma into wanting to save his life. Annie & Ryan's resistance only makes me root for Richie all the more.

Ryan's scenes with Kendall almost made him seem human for a change; however, I hated most of the flashbacks because they reminded me of how bad Rylee were together.

Debbi Morgan gave another excellent performance. I especially was riveted when she was praying to Jesse for help.

Of course Erica wouldn't pay attention to all the minor details of her businesses; she's always been the creative force, not the accountant! It was great to see her take care of Jack and I liked how we got our first glimpse of the senator from his speech, although I had to wonder what country Pine Valley is set in where the current president would approve of a task force against the fat cats. It certainly isn't Dubya!

Exactly. Accounting is a whole different ballfield from running your own company and that is why you hire a CFO to look out for the finances. Of course, the CFO has his/her own staff working with the company as well

There is a reason why they have an exam to be an accountant....because it is something in and of itself. My mom actually used to work for a CPA firm and one of the partners there took the exam twice and failed...on the third try, he passed. Third time's the charm :)

    • As it happens, 40 years ago this week, ABC and CBS revealed their 1985-86 fall schedules. NBC revealed theirs the week before. ABC's would end up changing. The original plan for Tuesdays was to have Diff'rent Strokes lead the night, with He's the Mayor at 8:30, followed by Who's the Boss at 9, Growing Pains at 9:30, and Moonlighting at 10. There was some surprise over MacGruder & Loud not getting renewed, but it was considered part of Aaron Spelling's declining influence at the network. Yes, Dynasty was still a hit (for a while longer), but Aaron's shows steadily took up less and less of the schedule. Fall 1984: Seven hours, five of which were new programming (Dynasty, Hotel, Glitter, Matt Houston, T.J. Hooker, The Love Boat, Finder of Lost Loves; MacGruder & Loud aired at midseason, by which time Glitter was gone.). Fall 1985: Five hours, two of which were new programming (Dynasty, Hotel, The Colbys, Hollywood Beat, The Love Boat). Fall 1986: Three-and-a-half hours, a half-hour of which was new programming (Dynasty, Hotel, The Colbys, Life With Lucy). Fall 1987: Two hours, none of which was new programming (Dynasty and Hotel; HeartBeat premiered at midseason). Fall-winter 1988: Two hours, none of which was new programming (Dynasty and HeartBeat). This led to Variety's infamous shady headline in spring 1989: "Aaron's Dynasty Over"
    • I hope for a multi-year renewal, too! This is the only show I've been excited to see the next episode in forever. Considering their demos are quite decent. the initial episodes showed there is still an interest in daytime, and it has helped to boost the rest of the soap line up at times, it should be around for a while.

    • I agree.  How many times did we have to watch Bobby vs. J.R., or Blake vs. Alexis, knowing that nothing would change at the end, and that everything would go back to status quo, so that they could fight the same, exhausting battles all over again?  If nothing else, I give FC and KL credit for trying to keep things fresh, even if I think FC, in particular, went too far in the other direction and became unrecognizable even to the most diehard fans. Exactly.  Plus, because viewers were so burned out by the kind of serialized storytelling that was beginning to affect even half-hour comedies, I think MSW represented a nice change of pace.  You didn't have to watch every week, or watch from the beginning of each season, to know what was going on with Miss Fletcher.  Instead, you could watch a complete story in one episode, de-stress from whatever had happened in your own life last week, gear yourself up for the week ahead, and be okay. If you notice, though, there were differences between those two shows and what Aaron Spelling had produced in the past.  For one thing, there was a greater emphasis on youth; and while characters on 90210 and MP certainly had more disposable incomes than the average viewer, their wealth wasn't as opulent as what we'd seen on DYNASTY or on "Hart to Hart."  Even the battles among Alison, Amanda, Billy and others at that advertising agency weren't as histrionic as those between Denver Carrington and ColbyCo.
    • I saw a conversation yesterday with Liam with the 7 dwarves hat and Steffy -  I know she did not say re: Hope and Liam said - well look at Finn and you forgave him right?      I know I did not hear Steffy say “well but you can’t compare that to…”  For *uck sake someone call the bitch out!?     You’re right, we shouldn’t compare your forgiveness for the dude with devil spawn seed whose daughter locked you in a cage along with crazy stepmom/mom/Grandmother who has also SHOT YOU BOTH - and multiple murder attempts but you have to exist with them / Hope’s part in a takeover which you know was FAR LESS THAN CARTER BECAUSE HOPE IS NOT AN ATTORNEY…. Goodness no, no the same thing at alllllllll.   When they do Steffy’s absence at least let it be because they all find out what a manipulative ho she is in her own right.
    • I think a lot of us still agree with that. I do hope that the resurgence in the soap world with Beyond the Gates will push ABC to either bring back these shows or produce a newer one.
    • So, this was fun. Elsewhere, friendly to polls, a poll on what do you want to see at the Nurses Ball. The Gio reveal got 18%, for Blaze to return & sing also got 18%, for Jennifer Hudson to do a cameo & sing got 10% and for Lucy to lose various parts of clothing got 9% but the huge one was the reveal of Drew/Nina sex which got a whopping 45%!
    •   I liked the effect of the curtains closing. Yeah it was like the end of Act I.   Or maybe they are simply trying to emphasize the drama of the end of an episode -- instead of a random abrupt end that has happened in some prior episodes.
    • I posted this in the behind the scenes thread but I know this thread is busier so wanted to mention it here as well. During their instagram live yesterday, Daphnee Duplaix and Trisha Mann-Grant mentioned that they will find out this month if the show is renewed for another season. Just a heads up so we can keep an eye out for an announcement and keep our fingers crossed for a multi-year renewal!
    • They haven't explained the ownership of the Bistro, but Doug told Holly the other day he didn't get the job there. Basically Roman just hired Doug on the spot and gave him a room.  It was really nice of Roman.  I don't know if he knows who Doug is or that he stole Julie's necklace.  That was unclear-at least to me. ETA-I feel like the Bistro might just die and people will just pretend to order food there like Leo did today.  Sophia is on bed rest so no one works there anymore.  They can use that set for something else.
