Well, here, for one. Quoted from a 1996 SOW article (emphasis added):

Last summer, [Lorraine] Broderick returned to the writing staff of AMC after a combined four-year stint at "Guiding Light" and "Another World," to find the idea of daytime's first gay teacher already in place. Writers Jeff Beldner, Hal Corley and Frederick Johnson were searching for a way to let viewers get to know another side of the much-loved character, Trevor Dillon (James Kiberd). The writers wanted to challenge Trevor and wondered what would happen if he had a gay brother-in-law. The idea of letting Trevor and others get to know Michael first, then discover he is gay, opened up fascinating possibilities for Trevor's character development.

I might've been wrong about Michelle Patrick's involvement in that particular storyline (I probably got it confused w/ (her involvement in writing) Danielle's kidnapping, which I read about in Michael Logan's column), but according to that article - again, from SOW - the story was already in place before Broderick's return.

Below is a link to the article in question:

"All Her Children" is a fantastic book; I actually own more than 1 copy. I don't remember Agnes mentioning this but I don't doubt you. I'll look it up.

Incidentally, I emailed Dan Wakefield about 5 years ago during the babyswitch storyline and asked him if he still kept up with the show. (All My Children was getting a lot of press during that time and I was curious to know if he was still a fan.) He wrote me back and said he hadn't watched AMC in years but would check it out. I'm sure if he tuned back in then he certainly has tuned back out again.

No. Her daughter mentioned that he was doing something it looked like would be very similar to a recent story AMC had, her mom said how she knew and respected Bell, how different their styles were and I think even said that from the hints of a gun or so0mething she thought the story would turn out pretty diff anyway.

    • Martin and Smitty were designed to avoid the stereotype of gay men sleeping around (which to an extent is true). If you recall Martin had a line about them not being open when Chelsea came to talk to him. The producers are walking a very fine line right now and it might not be popular to say but I can understand it. Establishing enough footing to ward off complaints will let them showcase gay characters more openly later.
    • The week was decent. They have started to rotate their stories and finally got a rhythm going. I disagree about them allowing every character to have a moment to shine though. Nicole really hasn't been given anything to do. I completely agree with all this. I adore Doug and hope he makes it through.

    • There was the one appearance in '96, but otherwise, that's correct as far as I know.
    •   It's working fine now.

Question for the B&B group: I see @rsclassicfanforever has uploaded multiple seasons from Videoland  (in the folders that are to be put away). They are huge folders and difficult to download so I started breaking them down into months but I realized they are by season so for example, Season 4 spans from March 1990 to March 1991. Now I'm wondering where to actually place them, since we have the Full Episodes section divided by year, not seasons. And most of these seasons we already have in full, so these are duplicates. Not sure if it's necessary to keep the older versions. I could just make another new section for Seasons, so the main folders would be "Behind the Scenes and Interviews," "Clips," "Full Episodes," "Full Seasons," "Music CDs," and "photo archive Marquise" but I'm not sure that really makes sense. Also wondering since we have almost every full episode now if "Clips" can be deleted in its entirety, as it's nearly 300GB.
    • CBS moving Murder, She Wrote from Sunday to Thursday was straight up sabotage. Les Moonves knew exactly what he was doing.
    • I sure hope you’re right. The lack of sets is maddening!
    • I'm hoping that the new studio might have more space, meaning extra sets could be permanently erected. Perhaps the current  set issues are due to limited space available at Television City as it shuts down for the redevelopment. But if more space means spending more $$$ we might be stuck with the current situation no matter where they move.
