Wow........just wow.......oh my God, that last scene with John/Marlena almost had me. If it went on for a little bit longer, I would've been crying.

Damn, Deidre was so amazing. She deserves an Emmy nomination based on that last scene alone.

Okay, why did the last scene of the episode have to Sami? That really pissed me off. For the love of God, why couldn't they just end the episode with John/Marlena.

When did you start watching? Because, minus the few months of Marlena as the serial killer, in the last 6 or so years, this is the first time the camera's been on her for more than two seconds. There is no one better at raw, pure emotion than Deidre Hall. And based on the previews for Friday's episode, she'll do the anger to perfection as well.

We should just rename this Deidre Hall's Emmy Week of 2007.

I agree. It should have ended with everyone out of the room, only Marlena there as there's a beautiful, haunting song playing (their song would be nice too - If It Wasen't For Your Love which played for the first time when Marlena "died" in 2004) while she washes his face, hands and his body, in tears before just crumbling beside or over him as it fades out and we see them alone in a room from far away.

LOL at Morgan busting Stephanie for her spying on her date with Max. Oh I flove her! Grrrrrr at another rape storyline from this show that will undoubtedly be screwed up and will involve even more violence against and victimization of women on this show. Where is the romance?

Nick and Artemis and Demarquette and Jeremy... wow I actually missed them. And MAGGIE! OMG Maggie! I just wish we had got more Maggie-Jeremy interaction before this episode. Good luck in your career, Trevor Donovan.

Bo's speech about being brothers broke my heart, as did John's joke about Bo getting in time with his wife, as did Hope's reaction to everything, as did Kate's interaction with John as did Marlena's joke about Kate being the one to wake him up and him saying it takes Marlena to keep him. Oh the hurt just keeps on coming.

Why was Bo flashing back to what happened before John got shot before he stuck Stefano with the needle? The storylines triggered by the Dec. 29 episode were obnoxious enough the first time and killed ratings once already. Why exactly did TPTB think we needed to relive them?

Stefano's line about Chelsea's driving? Oh SNAP! Normally I come down on the DiMera side when the Bradys break the law to attack them, but after that line I was definitely OK with Bo sticking a needle in Stefano.

LOVED the lighting with everything dark except Marlena's face as she was telling him to close his eyes and rest. "Yeah. I'm gonna miss you." HEARTBREAKING. "You are the great love of my life" OH this hurts!

Dammit why are Bo and Hope and Steve and Kayla and Lucas and Sami there watching this?! Belle being there makes sense but the rest should be gone. "daddy" Oh Martha I wish I could hug you.

As someone who could care less about Lucas and Sami's pain over their marriage breaking up but is HUGELY DEPRESSED over John's death I am soooooo angry that the episode where John dies ends with Lumi angst and just the way they have weaved this into this storyline. So this is how the feud resolution is "very costly" for Sami? She has to divorce the husband to whom she lies about the intimate moments she shares with EJ and marry him because of the death of the step-dad whom she hated from like the time she was 15 until an episode before he slipped into a coma 10 months ago? They killed John Black for Lumi angst? Seriously?!? They can't mention Brady or Eric or Carrie once as they count down the minutes until John leaves them yet they have to keep throwing this crap about oh no Sami has to divorce Lucas because John died in our faces?! Unbelievable. Marlena is losing her soul mate and Belle is losing her dad, yet the show ends with SAMI's pain over losing her crappy marriage to Lucas, as if her suffering is anywhere near equivalent to theirs. Oh I could spit nails I am so livid.

Lucas was an idiot for taking her back on the rebound when they never worked in the past and Sami, I have no sympathy for you, when us viewers have got to see you sharing intimate moments with EJ and lying to Lucas about them... oh and now you whine about this is all your fault? Funny... where were your tears when John getting hooked on drugs was actually your fault?!?! Sami just comes across so phony crying over John. And not just because of the past, but because the last time John was seriously hurt, Sami's fears about Lucas dumping her took precedence over her actually coming forward with information that may have helped them catch his shooter. Ugh. It's so maddening.

Thanks for making me hate Sami Brady, Hogan. Really appreciate that.

The show managed to get some tears out of me, I'm impressed. The dialouge and acting in that last scene with John and Marlena was great. Deidre Hall did awesome with that.

Instead of showing S/K, B/H, S/L's reactions and then ending the show on Sami's drama they should have done a montage to Faith Hill's "There You Are" or something. Actually, the whole last segment of the episode should have been John/Marlena (and Belle).

There were some fantastic lines in today's episode.

Loved seeing Bo and John together. Stating that they are brothers, damn they both knocked it out of the park.

Martha, wow. I never really liked you before but I love you now. Two words: Emmy Reel.

Deidre and Drake. Wow. just wow. I am tearing up just thinking about it. "You are the great love of my life" It doesn't get any better than that. She was phenonemenal. She didn't overplay it, she didn't go overboard, she was real.

My only beef is that the show ended with Sami and Lucas. Bad move.

Now Roman is on...I know I keep yapping about how so many people show up but this is just so amazing!

I just wish, script writers or someone would bring up the whole Megan Hathaway incident! It is why Stefano hates Bo and Hope so much and every other DiMera incident has been brought up, why not this one?!!!

    • I know Passions used this trope with Ethan and Sam to drag out the paternity, but GH seems to speed through certain stories while dragging others.

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?

    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
