October 11, 200718 yr Member It was already one of the crappiest stories ever. With the exception of the incredible performance given by Suzanne and her "death" scenes, I agree wholeheartedly.
October 11, 200718 yr Member Again, I'm divided on it. The DHs are a joke to me, but they weren't always, and they have a huge audience. There should've been a way to downgrade them on a more reality-based DOOL without losing their fans entirely. And what does Marlena do with the rest of her life? Sure, she can move story by herself, but this is much, much bigger than when Viki lost Ben on OLTL (which put her out of commission for years, and BTW I hated Ben more than John) - even more of Marlena's life and soul was wrapped up in John Black. Do they really ever intend for her to have a serious love interest again? Who but WN's Roman could measure up to the Eyebrow? If DOOL really is cancelled I expect John will do a Carl Hutchins return in the last several weeks. When does John get hit by the car, or has he already? I need to know where to pick up the show. That's the thing -- NO ONE can measure up to John. Not at this stage. I mean, come on, people: the man SAVED HER FROM SATAN -- literally. There's NO way any man can ever compare. That's why I have a theory. Sad to say, but Alice won't be around forever (it's a given). I think they want to just make Marls the matriarch at this stage. She can be the one people come to for advice and, like Alice, look lovingly back at John's picture frame and have her cherished flashbacks around holidays. I see it happening. Marlena is SO the new Matriarch-in-waiting.
October 11, 200718 yr Member Marlena has never felt that level of grief before? Then, I guess, loving and losing Roman (even though, as it turned out, he was still alive...maybe) meant nothing after all. (Baby D.J.? Eh, minor setback, too.) Whatever, Hogan. If you can't be bothered to put scenes in a proper, historical context, then I have nothing more to say to you. >> as of right now days is done in 2009 anyways.... so why not pull out the stops and go there. balls to the wall if you will. Exactly...except, John's probably still alive, and DAYS once again played its' fans for chumps. Oh, this is so different. As horrible as DJ and Roman's deaths were, they were with her for a short amount of time. John's been a part of her for 22 years, and they were so deeply connected, they were soulmates. What he feels, she feels.

While DJ was her own son, he was a newborn and she got over it in time but never forgot him. Roman may have been her husband but he wasn't for years and years and he ended up coming back. Hell, Sam's death won't match up as to how this should affect Marlena. John and her have been through so many hard times, lost each other more then once, but have always been in love ever since 1986. And they've always known it.
October 11, 200718 yr Member If this is true, wow. I didn't expect that, he's been a part of the show for so long.
October 11, 200718 yr Member From reading the article in SOD, it sounds like their goodbye will be really sad. Dee is going to rock.
October 11, 200718 yr Member DH: All the ‘kid art: I found brought me to tears. When [daughters] Whitney and Alexandra were little and would visit the studio, their interpretation of the world through crayons marked by the years gone by. Awww....that's such a sad thing to read!
October 11, 200718 yr Member I never buy anyone dying on DAYS. Remember the killer story, they were all dead. They all gave exit interviews but they were all coming back only the fans didn't know it. I don't think that was EVER their plan. They were making that storyline up as they went and when people started getting pissed in paticular when they killed off Alice they changed their minds and brought everyone back from the dead. None of those actors were on contract anymore and could of gone off and gotten new jobs - like Matt Ashford ended up on OLTL for a short stint. If you had planned to bring them all back they would of had to keep them all under contract so they didn't get new jobs and ruin the whole stupid plan AND they would of had to pay them to stay "unemployed" they defintely weren't doing that. They got really really Lucky that no one ended up somewhere else in that time period. Though Alexis Thorpe had pretty much moved on and was barely seen.

Yeah..I actually thought that was VERY weird for them to even conceive such a thought by "killing" off Alice by gagging her with her homemade doughnuts. Yeah..whatever happened to Alexis Thorpe? The last time I remember seeing Cassie was when she arrived in Salem and somewhat "talked" to her mother Kate. Now, Kate hardly mentions her or Rex. Edited October 11, 200718 yr by Noel
October 17, 200718 yr Member I fear Days will suffer a AMC and by that I mean AMC killed Ethan off in sweeps ratings period just to spike their ratings and it worked but it was very temporary and it backfired by a group of fans being so ticked off they fled the show and I think Days will suffer the same fate. Plus, where does this leave Deidra Hall now? I don't think Scott had much of a ratings impact one way or another on AMC. The man's character was barely on screen for months before the character was killed off. AMC has a ton of problems in its writing. I don't think their ratings woes had much to do with a very back burnered character that was barely on and had little storyline for quite some time before he was let go. And goodness knows they killed off more iconic AMC characters than bland Ethan (Dixie and the poisoned pancakes, anyone?) If he had that large of a fan following, one would think that Days wouldn't be dead last in the ratings. Edited October 17, 200718 yr by shipperx
October 17, 200718 yr Member WORD shipperx I'm slightly skeptical but I believe this is for real. I can't imagine any reason why they'd risk pissing off so many fans with a fake death Even letting people believe John is dead for awhile would make me not wanna watch knowing I was being manipulated ONCE AGAIN
