She didn't go to the hospital, fall into a coma or hang on by a thread!! That's the difference I think. Something he'd been really unwilling to do before. If Carly's really hurt, he's not going to be able to just walk away from her. All this time, Jack's clung to his anger to separate himself from her. He can't be mad at her if she's hurt. That would just be cruel. I don't know...there's just such a rich symbolism between Carly being hurt, and the broken Carjack relationship.
