The women's final was dull. Shocked it did so well.

Dull? Did you even watch the match? What was so dull about it?   It was so good! The great rallies, the great shot making, one game went to like 6 deuces, a couple of really long games (I think one went almost 10 minutes), there was a triple break point game that a player came back to win, they traded breaking each other, each had an over head smash error, and there was even a bit of drama to finish the match off. There was tons of tension too.  It was an amazing match!   Every time you criticize a match, you always says it’s “boring” but never provide details why you disliked a match.

I thought the first set was fun. I didn't really have any expectations, seeing as the two players were first-time finalists.

The women coming out ahead of the men in the ratings is pretty much par for the course in recent years, especially in light of the relative predictability of the men's draw.

Yeah, the women’s final had a lot more glamour and youth, plus a more surprising story. People were way more invested in the women’s side this year. The men’s matches were mostly boring during the second week (after the Alcaraz/Tsitsipas match and the success of qualifiers like Otte and Botic vdZ). Very predictable and uninspired.

The biggest men’s finals in recent years have usually been Roger vs. Novak. The other ones… meh.

It also proves the complaint about slower court speeds deadening tennis, which I made several years ago, over and over again. The courts were finally sped up, for the first time in ages and the entertainment value went up, irrespective of the names of the players. It's a pity both the US Open and Wimbledon wasted so many years of late with slowed down court surfaces. Think of how many bodies were wrecked by such slow courts.

It will be very interesting to see whether Raducanu's success changes the highly xenophobic, aggressively negative stereotypes about Romanians that proliferate in places like the U.K., which Brexit seemed only to amplify.

Simona and Darren call it quits, AGAIN! Wonder if Simona feels they've hit the natural end of the road or new hubby had a hand in it.

For years there has been endless teasing and innuendo about the alleged nature of the relationship between Halep and Cahill. Simona using the word "D" certainly did nothing to quell that. It is only giving grist to the rumor mill that Halep's new hubby put an end to that relationship. Others are claiming that Halep may be winding down her career, as she has spoken about wanting to have children (which doesn't always mean the end of a tennis career, as well all know).

Not watching Laver Cup but 👀.

And McEnroe replying, “Good point.” Wow.

(Didn’t Tatum O’Neal make allegations against Johnny Mac?)
