I think part of it is budget and part of it is Corday is probably still afraid to have Jack around on his own without Jennifer because of their fanbase. That sucks but oh well. This has to be something to do with Steve's story so I am interested.

I see this as totally positive that he is coming back, even if for a few days. This is the first time in years that Jack has been seen as a character, separate from Jennifer, where he can be on the show without her. I fully believe, that if his return is successful, that we could see him back on contract. It's just a matter of fans making it clear that we will take Jack, without Jennifer. ideally, Jennifer would be back at some point. But, Matt Ashford was excellent when Jack was written as a complex character, and I think we may see him like that again.

Oh, well, even if this return is only for a few days, I still think Ashford will be back on DAYS with a contract by the end of the year.

Whether it's for a few days, a few weeks, longer, I hope Sheffer writes something decent for Matt Ashford.

If he's returning for a bit to help out with Steve's storyline, then good. Steve needs his baby brother. Just think of how much more emotional this rage/torture story would be if Jack was trying to figure out what was going on along with Kayla and Bo.

I am waiting to see how this all plays out. I really like Jack and Matt Ashford, but I guess what brings him home is going to be what really gets me.

(I would love a Philip/Abby pairing. He can make her more interesting and she can make him mellow out a bit)

Phil and Abby would be J&J again bad boy and good girl. Jack was bitter after Kayla and Phil is bitter about Belle

Please, if there is a God in the skies, please let Jack return alone. I do not want to see Jennifer unless Melissa Reeves is returning, which is not happening. We have already seen proof that Jennifer can go on without Jack, lets see if Jack can go on without Jennifer. I think he can.

My top guess is it's a limited run to provide some angle in the Steve storyline. While he's around I'm sure they'd use him in some scenes with Abby. I also do think that this idea was kinda being passed around and hammered out since last summer when he left.

Why? Why can't Jack come back alone? I think one of the biggest reason Jack's character never really picked up since Ashford's return in 2001 was because since then, Jack has done nothing without Jennifer. We've seen Jennifer without Jack and we know that she doesn't need him. I'm not convinced that Jack doesn't need Jennifer. I want Hogan to prove me wrong. Restore Jack's character without Jennifer.

Besides, bringing back Ashford is great and all, but with the budget problems already in effect, don't bring back a Jennifer recast. Cady McClain could not be Jennifer. Ew, just the thought.

If Matt Ashford is indeed returning to DAYS permanently(he's signed a new contract for 2 or 3 years), perhaps the scenario is Jennifer has left Jack for Frankie, and Jack returns home broken hearted, and is reunited with Abby, Steve and Kayla.

that would be an insult to J&J fans and no way would jennifer go there. Reilly lie of Jenn and Freaky was bad enough I don't see Hogan ever going there it was a disaster for Days people started hating Jennifer for her disgusting behavior. As Missy said it was way to soon for Jennifer to move on and that is why the majority thought the story was a real loser for days.
