You are quite right KevC. Spirtas is definitely gay and did his job at Days very well.

I doubt if most of the audience even suspected that he was gay given how well he seemed to cover it up.

The same is true about Kyle Lowder. I have heard that many in the cast were shocked when he married Arianne Zucker.

In daytime, I think the phrase "don't ask, don't tell" applies.

That's so crazy! I don't understand why it matters. Even if a soap hunk is gay, it's not going to stop me from thinking he's hot and nice to look at. These network people need to get a life and not worry about what people are doing in their private lives. I never knew Days was a conservative show. How ironic.

I could care less if Brandon Beemer is Gay or with Lance Bass. He's a very good-looking guy and if he's with Lance Bass who cares? It shouldn't really matter either way and his job shouldn't be in question because of it. Hollywood is full of Gay actors and they are coming out all the time. Can we say Neil Patrick Harris, T.R. Knight and even Lance Bass. Gay or Straight, it's 2007 does it really even matter that much anymore?

This was talked about in the chat last night and it was established that they just friends. And even if it were true and they were dating, Days would be bringing on a whole lot of trouble they don't need by firing BB. Whoever said he should be fired for this is on crack. GLADD would be all over Days so fast their head would spin.

But look at the "safe" choices they were given as leading ladies. Even Geary has now been relegated to playing Professor Wallingford against Elliott's dragon lady. Once they're out, any romance they're given is mostly played for laughs with a wink to the audience.

Because the main audience of soaps are women who want to watch these men they think they can have. And, it would take away in their minds the validity of the love he has with his on-screen woman.

Not saying I agree necesarrily, but I can see it.

WHO'S GAY; WHO'S NOT...

THERE HAS BEEN A LONG HISTORY OF GAYS IN SOAPS, IN FRONT AND BEHIND THE CAMERA.

Edge of Night had a huge gay cast for a 30 minute soap

Joel Crothers (Miles) died of AIDS

Dennis Parker (Derek) died of self-inflicted gun shot wound after battling AIDS;was in straight porn but had a male lover (I met DP at Uncle Charlies in the 1980s; he was gorgeous and sweet; I'm a fag hag and was there with my brother)

The guy who played Calvin Stoner was gay and also died of AIDS.

Now...the current crop:

GL has no gay male actors that I know of. I think Maureen Garrett is a lesbo (you go girl), but it's easier for single women in soaps to stay single without the gossip and without losing their jobs.

Behind the scenes: Doug Marland was gay and not in the closet but the rags don't care about behind the scenes people. My brother wishes Frank Valentini were in the family because he's so cute, but we can't confirm. Although, look at the show, it's the most homoerotic next to Passions with its hunks galore....

Christian LeBlanc (Michael on YR) is gay; he's more out now and no one seems to care.

No one on Passions will admit to being gay, but my brother's gaydar is on overdrive everytime he sees that show. WOW...I don't care who's married or not, I'd say that all the men are gay on that show. One can only hope...

Some get married to deflect. THere were many rumors about Jacob Young and the guy who played Nicholas Cassadine 2 and Tony Santos 2. But Jacob is getting married or gotten married. You be the judge....

We wish all our boys and girls could be free, but in the entertainment industry, it's all about selling an image.

It's ashame.

    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
