January 24, 200718 yr Member As an Another World fan I have no faith in NBC to do anything when it comes to their soap lineup. There was a HUGE movement to keep AW on the air back in 99, and it did absolutely nothing. NBC just doesn't care, no matter how Zucker spins it.
January 24, 200718 yr Member Anyone who doesn't believe Passions won't be picked up by the internet or cable is in denial. Well, you have me convinced.
January 24, 200718 yr Member NBC never announced a desire to find another platform for AW or Sube. So the fact that NBC head honchos have publically stated to every mag/interview that they are currently seeking another platform for PSNS speaks volumes IMO Passions will live on, in one form or another.
January 24, 200718 yr Member Personally I think its just lip service. Then again, I've never trusted NBC to be a fan oriented sort of network in the least bit. As much as I dislike Passions on the whole, I wish ya'll luck. I remember what it's like to lose my fave soap.
January 24, 200718 yr Member TV Guide's Michael Logan: Passions will end its run by early September. But the head writer Reilley says: "We've been told that NBC CEO Jeff Zucker is personally committed to keeping the show alive on another NBC platform-possible cable or Webcasts." Pie in the sky thinking? Maybe not. At press time Passions rated No. 1 with teens and women 18-34. Oh, dear God, I searched FIVE MINUTES for this thread just for that comment?! Reilly, DISH! Talk more about the cancellation! This is when the fur flies and things get INTERESTING!! DAMMIT!!

Yes, 'Pash' is lower rated, but for some reason, the net truly IS committed to this show. The eight years the show got proved that!

January 24, 200718 yr Member The show's not living on. It's done in August. This is a game to keep viewers watching until August.

January 24, 200718 yr Member I think Passions has a better shot then other shows that were cancelled. It has the whole online thing going for it and the network keeps mentioning that repeatedly. I think it's more likely you see the show online then on another network. Other then that, I agree that it won't live on.

I think it's more likely you see the show online then on another network. Other then that, I agree that it won't live on. The problem with the whole online thing is, how many members of the cast are actually going to stick around for a show that's only broadcast on the internet? Very few, I would think. I realize PSNS has no problem with recasting, but would NBC want to go to all the trouble of hiring replacements for 90% of the cast? As cheap as they are, I doubt it. That's why I don't see the online format working out.
January 24, 200718 yr Member Which is why I doubt it will happen Hoganstays. I only see them doing it if a majority of the cast agrees to stay on in some fashion. I just think there is a better chance of the online thing happening based on Passions and NBC's fetish to use online ventures. It continuing on is highly unlikely but the online thing just seems a bit more likely. I could see NBC doing that. Recasting most of the actors would be stupid but they recasted almost every character that left the show so I would think it wouldn't phase them to do massive recasts.
January 25, 200718 yr Member I guess the voice of reason has to once again enter the thread... YES, "Passions" WILL live on in Internet form. No, Theresa probably won't be there. Nor will the majors (Ethan, Gwen, Ivy, Julian). Tabitha, Endar, Fox, Kay and Miguel are strong possibilities. Fancy may continue with the show too. The show WILL air on the Internet, but the cast will be pared down significantly. "Passions Red," "Vendetta"...all the other online ventures...things that "Days" really got NONE of...there has been a method to this madness, driving people to the NBC.com/passions site. And now we see what it is. The Internet soap that NBC talked about months ago, the one that would tie into "Passions" wasn't just a spinoff; it IS "Passions."
