January 13, 200719 yr Member NBC should have fired JERk's a$$ a long time ago and got a halfway decent writer who knew how to pace stories and give at least a few fans what they want without destroying all of the characters and turning it into a rape fest. So why didn't they fire him? Does he really have that much power?
January 13, 200719 yr Member It's in Variety that the 4th hour of Today is going ahead. It hints about Passions possibly being cancelled but stops short of saying it will be. It does say Passions is struggling. So much for that young demos thing. Low ratings are low ratings. I think the whole thing about demos is PR spin. At least it's probably mostly that.

January 13, 200719 yr Member Here is the link. I don't watch Passions but any soap being cancelled right now is not good. They don't directly come out and say that Passions will be cancelled but it doesn't sound good. http://www.variety.com/article/VR111795733...yid=14&cs=1 Ooops! Sorry! We must have posted this at the same time! Edited January 13, 200719 yr by whyamcwhy

January 13, 200719 yr Member Crap @ the 4th hour of The Today Show NO better, yet, [!@#$%^&*] on the fourth hour of the "Today" show. That show is going to lose its appeal because of this. Mark my words. Matt Lauer is right; "Today" may not be as fresh and special to viewers if the franchise is worn thin. HAHAHHAHAHAHA. Dig your own graves, NBC! I may not have to pray that lifetime of rosaries for your demise, so long as you continue making ridiculous decisions such as this one.
January 13, 200719 yr Member I don't think "Today's" ratings will suffer because of this. No doubt the first two hours will be the most watched, but "Today" (and the other morning shows) are designed for people to be able to tune into the show whenever they please. A lot of people aren't up at 7 or 8am to catch the show then, but they can check out the third or fourth hours. And it sounds like they are going to introduce new content for those later hours as well, if they are going to have the "Access Hollywood" crew, for example, to contribute.
January 13, 200719 yr Member I've heard it all now. You're going to pray for the demise of a network just because NBC cancels Passions. There are a lot more people watching other shows on NBC than will ever watch Passions so I don't think the cancellation of Passions deserves hoping for the demise of NBC. I bet NBC will be better off if it rids itself of JER and Passions since Passions has shown itself to not be enough people's cup of tea to warrant its staying on the air. I don't see how people think this is going to lead to the demise of NBC soaps. Days is basically carrying NBC soaps. I don't think it will be affected by Passions being canceled at all considering the HUGE gap between Passions and Days in the ratings. NBC is pretty much a one soap network right now. I feel bad for the cast and crew of Passions but enough is enough. We have seen soaps canceled with better ratings. Edited January 13, 200719 yr by dawn9476

DAYS gets the Viewers, 18-49, and 18-34 demos while PSNS gets the 12-17, 12-24, and 12-34 demos. IMO NBC daytime cannot survive with one soap. As for the soaps being cancelled with better ratings. If that was the deciding factor then AMC/ATWT/OLTL/GL would all be cancelled as well, since they are getting the same ratings Another World was when it was cancelled.
