I bet there will be no soaps broadcast on Tuesday at all.

Tuesday has been declared a 'National Day of Mourning' by President Bush, there will be no mail that day, Wall Street is shut down, and American flags will be flying at half-staff for 30 days following Ford's death.

This annoys me! First I've been expecting some things in the mail and this is going to push it back to Wednesday and now we're looking at 2 or three episodes of our soaps this week! This was a huge week for Y&R, grrr!

I don't recall this red carpet for Ronald Reagan and he was a major President. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but Gerald Ford wasn't even an elected President! I'm just so surprised by all the attention given to him. He's the only President in history that wasn't voted on by the people and when he ran for re-election he lost.

I know, it seems they are going all out for President Ford's funeral. And if they're doing it for him, then why didn't they do it for Reagan as well? And I bet they won't do it for Carter or Bush 41 either when they die.

And Ford is the only man never elected either President OR Vice President, and was President for for less than three years (Aug. 9, 1974-Jan. 20, 1977); so why the five star treatment?

I agree that Ford was a good guy, and sounds like a good president (but that was before my time, however), but this was not done for Reagan and many consider him to be one of our greatest Presidents of all time.

According to the DirecTV on-screen guide, it has for Tuseday, the funeral coverage starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 11:15 a.m. Y&R will start 15 minutes later where I live, so it's supposed to come on at 11:15 and end at noon. All the other soaps are supposed to come on at it's normal time.

Yay! I checked where I live and Y&R will air from 11:15-12:15 central time, the rest of the schedule (for all soaps) is fine.

Cool! I hope there are no last minutes changes to that schedule.
