Melrose Place

For some reason, I suddenly remembered my love for Melrose Place. It could've been the 20 something videos I just watched on YouTube, but I really miss this damn show and thank God for Soapnet. I just wonder what they could do for a reunion show. I remember watching the E! True Hollywood Story: Melrose Place and most of the cast said they would be willing to return for a reunion special. WHERE IS IT?

Anyway, I know there are several fans of Melrose Place. So I created a place for people to just come in, reflect and express their Melrose love.

Lets remember why Mondays were such a b*tch :D

I've been rewatching it this year after getting the whole series and am now up to season 7. It's not a classic by any means but viewing it a second time, I'd forgotten how much entertaining stuff there still is. Lexi being a total slut, crazy Eve, Jane and Michael [!@#$%^&*]ing over past misdeeds (though Alex Bastion was a total bore). I'd probably rate it over season 5 and they did cut out a lot of dead wood from the previous season.

ETA: A post in the DVD thread by bellcurve has reminded me just how much I loved the Alison/Amanda feud. It was hilarious how Amanda used to treat her like s-h-i-t and I've got to admit that even though I sometimes felt bad for Alison, it was just too entertaining watching her squirm as Amanda yelled at her for being "incompetent" or a "drunk".

Amanda: This probably calls for a celebration. Of course you'll use any excuse to have a drink. What was it this morning?

Alison: OJ. Straight up.

Amanda: Screwdriver's more like it. I can smell it on your breath. It's not even lunchtime and you're already into happy hour.

I agree about Rhonda. I remember when I started watching Melrose Place on Style and E!, before they moved over to Soapnet, and I was shocked that there was a black person living in the building. For the love of God, I cannot even remember Rhonda from when I watched it back in 92. I was 5, but still, you would think I would remember, lol.

I was always surprised that it was Sandy who went first seeing as she could have been that [!@#$%^&*] character they were missing. But I think the actress was kicking up a stink so they decided to cut her loose whereas Vanessa Williams didn't have the dignity to leave of her own accord.

I'm surprised some people hate season 7 so much but it might just be because I'm watching it at the moment. The latter half of season 5 and most of season 6 were terrible in my eyes. Slimy Craig Field had no use, Alison and Jake were islanded with very little screen time, Samantha was beyond stale, Brett and Lexi flopped. I couldn't believe they'd hired Jamie Luner off the heels of Savannah and then had her playing this pill popping, nervous wreck who'd only been with one man her entire life. The fact they saw the error of their ways and turned her into a vindictive drunken slut is another reason for me to prefer season 7.

Randomly, something I've found weird rewatching is that Rob Estes will never, ever play a scene shirtless. Always a wifebeater on. The only scene he did "shirtless" had a strategically placed towel over his shoulder.

    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
