November 29, 200619 yr Member Oh, pleeeease tell me they aren't recasting Mike! Nope it isnt Mike. I would rather see a Mike recast then bringing on another character back.
November 29, 200619 yr Member Jade is Lily's daughter? WTF! My bad. I meant niece. But I'm very bored with the show. So bored that I'm extremely bothered by Gwen's hair. She needs a trim or to just let it grow out. Nu Craig has to DIE. Just go. Take Paul w. you.
November 29, 200619 yr Member How about an old shoot out with Emily, Paul and Dusty...GH style. Let them all get killed off!
November 29, 200619 yr Member Jeffrey Meek is not working as Craig for me at all. And it really has nothing to do with the fact that I don't think they should've ever bothered bringing him back without Hunt Block. Meek's Craig just seems so Stenbeck-ish for some reason, which is not Craig at all.

November 29, 200619 yr Member I've only watched one full episode since the end of August, and I don't feel like I've missed much. I just read the re-caps on-line. It's the same crap day after day after day after day. I feel like the storylines on this show just run in circles. If anyone thinks that these storylines are good, they should be fired. And that includes Goutman. I think the man has stood w/ the show for too long. He probably doesn't see what's "bad" and what's "good." Obviously, he doesn't listen to the viewers b/c we've been complaining about the lack of airtime for the 40+ crowd since the day he started as EP. I don't think it's a problem w/ the HW anymore...I think it's a problem w/ Goutman himself. There have been 3 writing staff changes since he's been EP, but nothing significantly changes. If anything, it seems like now it's gotten a lot worse. Even Hogan gave Bob, Susan, and some other vets one storyline, even if it wasn't for a long time.
November 29, 200619 yr Member Even Hogan gave Bob, Susan, and some other vets one storyline. Oye...Hogan was even worse for writing for the vets. He didn't write for them. Only Barbara was shown and sometimes it was a bit too much. The writers need to spread the wealth. Douglas Marland did that very well when he wrote ATWT. Jean ahd Hogan never have done that.
November 29, 200619 yr Member Passante wouldn't know the history of ATWT if the book fell on her head. All her talk about keeping history alive and well on the show was nothing more than a smoke screen from tipping her hat that she knows nothing.

Luv your signature...Jean and Hogan kept re-writing history. Paul and Dusty best friends? When? Paul and Andy were best childhood friends.

But the woman herself stated that she doesn't know the history of the show really well...and to me, that's a shame b/c my biggest gripe w/ this show is that they never utilize the history that they still have! Why do they even bother showing Nancy (I'm not saying that they should stop b/c I adore Helen Wagner) when all she does is play "girlfriend" for Katie to talk about her sex life? Why couldn't they show her w/ her actual family? There are characters w/ a lot of history who are never used. They have couples that IMO nobody gives a damn about, like Lucy and Dusty, Mike and Katie, Paul and Meg, and Simon and Carly, and continue to neglect two of the show's biggest couples (Kim and Bob and Tom and Margo). Meanwhile, they mess up other characters w/ all these ridiculous re-casts and/or re-writes. Don't they realize that the show has been on for 50 years...meaning that they have a lot to learn from the past...they just refuse to utilize it.

Maybe she should read ATWT 40th Anniversary Book and get a clue!
November 29, 200619 yr Member Jean Passanante is a HORRIBLE writer! She virtually made All My Children unwatchable after Agnes Nixon went back into retirement in 2000. So many loose ends and non sequiturs that never got explained. So much happened off camera, it was ridiculous. A character would walk into a room as a Monday cliffhanger, and then Tuesday's episode would pick up a day later with the characters TALKING about what happened after the previous day's cliffhanger. The woman couldn't weave stories and continuity together to save her life. Characters would be in two separate scenes back to back, and storylines would just be dropped right in the middle. When I heard she was leaving AMC to go to ATWT, I rejoiced for us AMC fans, but felt sorry for ATWT fans. But at least she was with Sheffer and Carolyn Culliton (whose husband Richard ironically replaced Passanante at AMC), so the inanity of her writing wouldn't be as blatant. Then Sheffer left. Oh hell, oh well.
November 29, 200619 yr Member I haven't fully enjoyed ATWT since a few months before Hogan left (I still don't know if that's when Passanante started taking over or what but that's when the writing started getting really bad). After months of tolerating such unrewarding crap, I gave up on the show. I simply cannot sit through a whole episode anymore which is sad 'cause there was a time where I was willing to sit through boring stories because I loved the characters/actors enough to do it and hope for better writing eventually but I can only take so much...
November 29, 200619 yr Member I suppose the tricky family trees explains why Babs hasn't been informed that her granddaughter died? It's really sad that no one's history is used. Unless it 1) happened six months ago or 2) it happens to be Carly's history that someone can throw in her face. Everyone freakin' knows Carly's history enough to call her a slut. I don't know how the show seems rushed and repetitive at the same time.

I don't know how the show seems rushed and repetitive at the same time. What idiot doesn't know that Paul is Barbara's son? It's not the most complicated thing to know: they have the same fricking last name! It's just astonishing how much the writers think we're fools. Her saying that learning the history of the show is hard is just an excuse for lazy writing. They know the history of the show...they just choose to not use it. Like when Bob was absent for Casey's graduation. It was complete BS b/c not only was his grandson graduating, but so was his nephew (Will...well, at least everyone thought that Will was graduating). Or how it took months before Luke came out to Emma, even though she's his grandmother and realistically would have been one of the first people to know. I can't imagine Holden not telling her. They know that Margo, Craig, and Katie are siblings. But do we see Margo w/ her sister? Hardly ever! When's the last time Katie even acknowledged that Lucy and Casey were her niece and nephew? W/ all the jabbering that she does to Nancy about her sex problems, she couldn't bring up the one relative that they have in common?
