DAYS fans need to give Hogan a chance. The man's only been writing a little over a month, most of which has been spent trying to salvage the mess that JER left behind. I'm just grateful that we now have a HW who actually knows what he's doing. And personally, I think the show's been awesome under Hogan.

I know this conversation has happened like 10x already so I won't say much. But Hogan did not have to salvage JER's mess. JER left back in June or something and since then interm HW's have been running the show.

Hogan has done a few good things, the character dynamics are great and the show definitely has a different feel to it.

I agree 100%. Good post.

When you think about the pacing of soaps, 5-6 weeks isn't that long to get EVERYthing moving. Look what happens next week! It's Celeste and the "murder story" starts. That sounds like something happening to me. I personally think Days is a lot better than Y&R. If you want to see a show that is, as you say, "zzzz" just flip the channel to AMC or OLTL.

OT, but LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL.

I agree but that phrase I found funny for some reason.

Anyway, IA that we need to give Hogan a chance, and the pacing is much faster than JER's was. I am LOVING Days right now and IMO it is the best soap on air.

Creatively, Days has improved ten fold. And, the murder mystery set to start is legit, and seems to be done in the vain of advancing the storylines for many characters, not as some damn stunt with giant plotholes in it. I'm enjoying it right now, warts and all. I now see why his ATWT fans were raving about this man.

And I also wonder how long people think it should take t turn a soap opera around? He and his team have not been in place long, and there are some who feel that he should have came in with guns blazing right out of the box. I, for one, am glad he's taking his time and building back up friendships, couples and relationships, instead of just throwing in whatever stunt crap that can be thought up for shock value.

Days' November Sweeps have not been this good in quite a while, and I'm ready for whatever he has in store.

once he gets going with his stories, things are going to pick up.

Despite having interm HWs Ridge, we are still seeing Hogan wrap up JERk made storylines. So he is still definitely cleaning up his mess.

I definitely think Hogan needs more time to show what he's capable of.

I also think it does no harm to speak our minds about what we may not like so far, just in the name of critical honesty, though it doesn't personally make sense to me to take it to the extreme and lambast the man for it, and ignore the logistics of the situation. Short of that, I think there's a happy medium.

As for the pace, I think it's so far kind of been a case of "Hurry up and wait" -- a lot of things click along quite nicely, some things perhaps are too fast (mostly speaking of some reconciliations that have come before certain issues are addressed, but who knows if they're just calms before the storms, in fairness), but there have been some story devices that kinda seem to be just holding patterns, most obviously the hospital stuff.

And ultimately that means that while I enjoy the show, if I didn't watch other soaps I wouldn't really know it's November sweeps. Doesn't exactly bother me, but for whatever that's worth there it is.

One would think.
