DAYS: Benjy

Well, I think Steve will always call him Benjymonkey *g* But that's just me- and I agree. Just Ben. Of course, when I brought on benjamin Reardon on my blog and still planned to brign on Benjy, I went like this:

And Drew, I only posted what I did above because I felt like people were coming in here and had to say that it's way too soon. The point of my intial post was to state that myself, but still look to the future in curiosity. So, it bugged. But I'm over it now.

As far as I'm concerned, there's far too much story to tell for Benjy before he has a love interest. His deafness, for one. Hell, he could pretend to have his hearing if he's so damned good at lip reading (though the second he got a phone call, that would blow him out of the water). The drama potential for him faking his deafness would be great, but I'd rather actually see him remain deaf for the diversity. A soap could benefit from a long term "disabled" character who is limited by his disability. I know I plan to go there and to really make him struggle- he'll probably try surgeries that will be unsuccessful. And John's involvement? Oh doggie dog. Great drama potential for Steve/John (I'm sure Steve knows, but it could still cause tension, because of Steve's relationship with his little dude). And, as much as I don't want Stefano back, it was hinted that he was responsible for Benjy's mom's death; I think it would be interesting to see that come into play with being the good DiMera.

I'm surprised no one else likes the gay route for him - Will pairing aside. I'm surprised that got no commentary  I think it would be an interesting way for Days to cut into this social issue, with such an already socially diverse character.

I'm all for a gay character on DAYS, but Benjy? Ehh, not at all.

I'd have faith under Hogan Queen_Nubia - plus - I mean, Harold was a stock character played for laughs, something Benjy couldn't be fromt he get go, so right there is a huge difference.

Thanks!

And OMG - finally watched. He's still deaf AND he's still mute? Milk this, Hoagie.

Keith, how did you not know he would be? I've read that in a few interviews now, I think.

I've read deaf, but not mute, so, I guess I missed that. I knew he'd be signing - guess I wasn't fully prepared for the implications of that :P

Oh just a passing comment, My sister called me at 11:30 at night to tell me Benjy was back on Days. When I first picked up the phone I thought something was really wrong cause she never calls me that late.
