I think Loretta could be a shoe in for the Guest Actress emmy next year. She has brought me to tears a few times...She's great.

Same here! I saw the first few minutes in this previes thing...WOW it's intense. And the musical element really seems to work well. I think this could be an unexpected hit.

WHat an interesting finale. It was very different. Greys usually does BIG finales (Addison arriving, Dennys death/izzy quits/merder sex, Burke leaving Cristina, Callie & Erica/The house of candles/Alex & Izzy, George & Izzy flatlining and meeting in hospital heaven, The shootout) and this one was kinda... like a normal episode. A lot of big stuff happened, but more early on and were simi-resolved by episodes end.

I do not blame Derek at ALL for questioning Meredith as a mother considering she doesnt know right from wrong, but i totally see her side in it too ("i dont see the world as right and wrong" or whatever was a great line). Plus, The Chief took ownership as he did pressure into it. Her going home to an empty house with a baby was sad though. I am mostly sad at the Mer/Alex friendship hitting such a rough patch because they have always been there for eachother and are my favorite friendship of the show.

EDIT: Found the quote “Because I don’t think that things are simply right or wrong. Things are more complicated than that. This is more complicated than that. It’s complicated that it was Adele and Richard. It’s complicated that we have a drug in a box that could help her. There’s nothing simple about that. I am very sorry that I messed everything up but I would do it again.”

Cristina being pregnant is very interesting. Im glad they stuck true to her character and her not wanting it, loved her lines about not hating kids but not wanting to be a mother. I totally get Owen tough. I totally see his side. He is right, they are married and while this is in the end her choice its something worth talking about. I am kinda glad he kicked her out and i hope she does end the pregnancy and they break up.

I felt bad for Alex. He fucked up and he knows it, and he genuinely feels bad for it. I love that April got the promotion, though i bet it will be like Callie and short lived. Loved Bailey, her boyfriend, and the subplot with the families of the crash.

Question, i missed a lot the past two seasons... can anyone break down what everyones job/specialty is? is Alex strictly in peeds now?

I definitely felt like this is the weakest finale thus far. It actually didn't feel like a finale at all. Of course I'll still watch next season, but I felt like there was nothing really "bringing me" back to it. Although I am enjoying this controversial Cristina/Owen drama.

JackPeyton, I also loved that quote! And I'm actually not sure about the jobs...I think Alex is usually on Peds, but then I see him other places occasionally too. You never know who's doing what at Seattle Grace. lol!

I dont think it was weak. It was a very strong episode and showed Greys doesnt need to rely on stunts. It was emotionaly packed. But its just compared to Meredith as the other womanm Izzy quitting, The shhoting (one of the most emotional events in modern TV, IMHO) and George/Izzy's death (mostly cuz u didnt know if they would be back) i expected an event.

I really hope Christina has the abortion. Anything else is not true to her.

And the quote is so good and powerful because Merediths mom died of this. Meredith might get this down the line.

    • On May 27, Johnny spoke to Sami on the phone, and learned that Sami and Sydney were trying to fly in from Sicily, but were stopped by a volcanic eruption because the ash had grounded all the planes. As discussed on the May thread, ash from Mt. Etna in Sicily caused planes to be grounded in summer 2024, so Cwikly/Ford would have known of this. Friday May 30, Will said that Sami and Sydney found another flight and will be here soon. Well, Sami and Sydney got out just in time, because … There was (and still is ongoing) a huge eruption of Mt. Etna that began very early Monday morning June 2 Italy time (which would be Sunday night June 1st Chicago time) and a volcanic ash plume had reached an altitude of around 6,400 metres (around 3 or 4 miles high) https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/mount-etna-eruption-volcano-smoke-lava-live-updates-b2761911.html
    • Agree to disagree. Like first, love second. OH, agree, agree, agree! Legendary Featherstone, you're not dressing this one well at all. Petite woman with ample bosom, wrong clothes = awful  matronly looking ugh. I'm sorry but I felt hit over the head with everything each of them thought & felt for about 6 more days than I felt I had signed on for.  I don't know you well enough to know if you will know when I'm teasing, so I've just warned you that I am when I say, I hate for you that you haven't actually met Danielle before. LOL. To me it was just a natural take.  I have no problem going back & forth between those two focal sites. But, I am certainly aware that early on I had an expectation of being really into their having 27 sets & that has definitely not been the realization. And, yes, for now, Frank is still heads above any & all others with us & sets IMO.  Huh? Guza gone. I have it in my head that he was only willing to come out of retirement (and presumed mourning) for a "certain amount of time" to help get this new creature launched, but had no desire to stay & so was one of the "over-staffed intentionally" that we were told about. Of course there's been no official word on the circumstances of his leaving.  But, you might mean go with Guza as in a style, if so, ignore the last para.

    • I'm so pleased we have such fan engagement about Dani. Reminds me of some other soap characters. I think it's because they are "polarizers" which is a word I may have just made up. They are polarizing on their shows to other characters & to story & they are polarizing in the audience as fans seem to have extreme reactions to them, love & hate, not middling neutrality, ya know? Well, it's a theory.  To me the human being you seek has been amply shown especially to two people & both more or less recently. Her sister bond with Nicole, whoa, has knocked me back & blown me away. And, with Chelsea, over her budding sexual identity and awareness. She gathered instantly that something was up with that daughter & was laser focused on her for several scenes. Then, for a third, she & Pamela have finally, also recently, been so real & genuine & authentic.
    • Thanks, Paul, I did not know about his interest in the comedic elements or that he was one of our many people who came from the network! I have always liked Marlena de la Croix's writing, which is not to say I 100% agree with her. She's been a member of my FB soap group for a good long time & she actually posts, which I love. Recently I posted about an e-copy of Robert LaGuardia's SOAP WORLD that is free to borrow like a library e-book but on the Internet Archive site & I posted that at the time of their publications, all of his soap opera books were the gold standard.  She immediately posted about "Bob" who was her close friend & how much she still misses him to this day & that he loved to talk soaps & was also a nice guy, etc. which I was over the moon to have her share about the author & his time etc. like that!!!
    • Just more RTD ego trips, seemingly his main reason for coming back.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  That's a lovely writeup. Do fans feel it was warranted?
    • So I was reminded that we're now meant to be celebrating PRIDE by this amazing post:

    • RIP to our hero, John Black

I really wonder why they chose to write this whole ‘John is getting better’ part of the storyline, especially since we all knew what was really going to happen. And I hope we find out the answer someday. But as tough and as tearjerking as today was, it was also really beautiful. And the acting, even though a lot of it if not all of it was real, was spectacular. The flashbacks were beautiful too. I honestly can’t even describe how much I enjoyed today.  Having so many of John and Marlena’s scenes be focused on the two of them and their love story was the right decision. It was a fitting end to John and Marlena. And I’m also glad that John and Steve got to have one last goodbye after everything that happened. As for Bo and Hope and their family, I did think that some parts were a little unnecessary but I really enjoyed Bo’s dream and his reunion with Zack. The acting playing Zack actually did a pretty good job too. Everybody encouraging Bo to fight was really the right decision in this storyline as well.  As for the final minutes of today, be prepared. I actually have tears running down my cheeks as I write this.
