They should of started off the season with a bigger bang than that, they do have big competition now with CSI. I liked the episode, but I definantly think CSI won in the ratings tonight, if they didn't I'll be shocked. Next week looks great, poor christina having to go up against Burk's mom(Dianhn Caroll). YIKES!!!!

I have to admit that I didn't really like the first episode. It may just be the season premiere blues, but nothing grabbed me like I thought was going to happen. I didn't get to see the season finale in May or the syndicated one either so I'm a little lost. Hopefully, things will pick up by Episode 2. Looks like Burke's mother comes to town and isn't fond of Christina.

IA with those that say there was not much to talk about. It seemed like a March kind of episode instead of a September one. For a show that is so big on the bang I expected something more well... bangin! LOL. In any case, It was still excellent. Definitely no drop in quality or interest value. Just... a bit not what I would've wanted after not seeing it for so long!!

What i liked was the flashbacks to back in the day. I think the show has finally established itself where flashbacks are important to us!!

I hope it does well. I've never seen CSI, and am not interested in it and think that GA is a great competitor for it!!

I'm so glad it's back, but ITA that this was just a good episode, not a great one.

Meredith continues to waffle.

Izzy's grief wasn't given enough time, imo.

I didn't care for the Bailey/Omar subplot. It seemed out of character to me for her to give up so much of her time for one patient whom she really couldn't even treat.

Burke & Christina were barely on.

I did love the flashbacks, though. How funny for Meredith to recall her mom & Richard's breakup, which she probably didn't understand at the time. It was great to see the mixer where the residents first met, imo. Best of all for me, was seeing how hurt Derek really was by Addison's affair.

I have no idea how a parent doesn't notice that a 14-year-old is pregnant, but if half the talk shows on the air can be believed, it has happened.

Poor George still couldn't bring himself to say "I love you" when he doesn't feel it yet. In a way, I can't blame him.

Wow, was this the first time Derek told Meredith he's in love with her? I was hoping she'd chose McVet, but it looks like McDreamy might win out.

Next week looks fantastic from the preview!

I thought the premiere was great. It started off kind of slow but the ending was amazing.

Addison at the end when she put the panties on the bulletien board :o wasn't expecting that. I think she knows. The flashbacks were amazing. Loved the Derk and Meredith one as well as the one with Addison and Derek and the one with Izzie and Kerev.

Meredith has Mcvet and Mcdreamy vying for her affections now. I liked Cali and George in this episode and I usually dislike them.

At the end with Christina and Burke amazing acting. She just broke down and said don't ever die. Which was new she almost never breaks down and she did after Danny's death. Seeing Izzie's struggle was a good underlying theme. Izzie and Mere have the best friednship chemistry there scenes were really good. Ellen almost never cries or give much emotion but she did in this one she was very warm and caring threw out the entire episode and it's a major acting improvement she seems more like a protaginist now where as in the last two seasons she seemed soo detached, cold and desperate.

I feel like her acting has improved tremendously. She was soo good in the bathroom gloor scenes and with Cali, Derek and McVet and I don't know I got a better feel from her then her previous work.

These actresses continue to work. Word about Miranda Bailey she was amazing in the Quarentine.

After reading everyone's comments I was totally confused because this wasn't the episode that I had watched! Needless to say, CTV (Canada) aired the second episode of this season not the first episode!!!! WTF??? The second episode was really good and everything but I really did actually want to watch the first episode. Once CTV realizes their screw up I am sure they will air the first one. I won't ruin it for everyone as to what happened in the second episode but lets just say the last 3 minutes left me giddy! :D

I thought something was up! That explains everything......I couldn't figure out why it didn't start back off where the season finale left off. The second episode was kinda lame, but maybe it'll make more sense when I see the premiere.

I still think GA is poorly written for a primetime show, but it's the best soap on TV right now!

Kate Walsh and Katherine Heigl knocked me out in this episode. Both of those women are so talented and so rarely acknowledged for it. I really hope one of them gets nominated for an Emmy at some point. Soon.

I cried again remembering Denny. I still can't believe that they killed him! I do agree that Izzie's grief was cut short. I hope this isn't the last we see of it.

Addison is a very intelligent woman. She knows what happened.

Callie is growing on me. I love when she compared them to 17-year-olds and when she left the room for no reason at all. :) She's cool. (And also another beautiful addition to the already physically-blessed cast).

Still want to punch Meredith in the face. Kthx.

I thought something was strange as well because I thought the show picked up right where it left off last season. Then I figured they decided to change it. I was all confused! Stupid ass CTV!!! They won't tell us when they are going to air Nip/Tuck and now they air the second episode instead of the first one!

    • Am I the only one who hates how this show treats Claire? She's a glorified extra This girl comes from stock the granddaughter of the shows 2 biggest supercouples and they treat her like she's a throw away. Her pop pop is dying/dead and her other grandpa is saved awoken from his coma, alive because of the selfless heroic actions of her maternal grandpa

There is no reason why she wouldn't be here to say goodbye. Olivia Rose isn't doing anything I bet she love to come back and say goodbye. I just don't understand the motivation & thought process when it comes to some decisions. This show is probably still salty about how they didn't succeed in trying to assassinate Claire, on the alter of her dicktimized bird brained aunt & her serial killer boyfriend/husband with the audience.  Also unless they're keeping it under wraps Sami not being back in time to say goodbye to John is a huge fumble. If it had to do with Ali availability then they should've pushed back the fallout of Johnny learning about his sperm donor raping his mother and the subsequent confrontation with Elvis & Sami to conceded with John's coma & death so Sami/Ali were here for it. It's just a huge piece missing from this. As much I hated Sami's overdramatic looney tunes treatment of John long after she was in her 30s, became a grandma, her & John had one of the best dynamic complex heartbreaking father/daughter relationship's on both daytime and the show. It would be full circle as John's end of watch nears, that Sami apologizes for her treatment of him & admits she does love him. He was just as much as a father to her as "Roman", in a impossible situation that turned everyone lives upside down(The 2 Romans, Roman Intitial Death, The Affair)through no fault of his own. How fitting if she called him dad one last time & how thankful she is for his unconditional support and love. He squeezes her hand one last time, calls her Samantha and finally let's go after hearing the words he spent decades longing for in my eyes
    • So around '84 is when things get bad?
    • There are details through the thread, but yes, as mentioned, she hated Ellen Wheeler, and lambasted her for crying a lot, for her decisions with firing and Peapack, etc. Back in the day she also hated Pam Long, who created Reva and gave Reva all of her best material. The producers or writers she liked most seemed to be those who saw Reva in the most generic of molds, although she likely doesn't see it that way. She was OK on OLTL; I think @Vee could probably give a better summary. She was earthy and added her usual hard work to some trash material. There was nothing special going on, as yet again with patron saint Carlivati it was all plot, no character, and he cared more about writing for a cutesy child character.  You're right about what they could have done with Reva. Reva, Erica, and any women who are in story long enough face this problem. The biggest difference is Reva was allowed to age (even with the post-menopausal baby), which Erica was not.
    • Cali was the only Paulina for me on AW.  Was Judi Evans such a “name” that Cali was fired for her?  Judi basically played an entirely different character.  She could’ve been Nancy!
    • They were great together. Barbara was way too high maintenance for any man. You know Henry divorced her a$$ after about a year.  And, here’s an example of what I was talking about…
    • I watch every day as well, and I am enjoying the show. There's always room for improvement. TBH, things are much different from what I expected reading the character breakdowns. That could be a good thing! I'm willing to let them find their groove and figure out what kind of show it wants to be. The core and underlying theme. -I echo what a few others have said: The show is lacking in real romance and cross-starred lovers. But that tracks from (MVJ) experience cause the bell soaps are not good with romance IMO. -I have a feeling it's being built before our eyes, but we're missing that rival family. -I would prefer more variety of storylines. Good ones that could weave together the whole town.   -I struggle connecting to the male characters. So I hope they get a clear handle on them soon. Most of them feel underwritten and one-note. -Find a better purpose for Naomi. I fear she will be the first Dupree dumped. I completely agree. June's story does nothing for me. And what if she turns out to be Tyrell and Samantha's mom? They are very close to leaving high school. why should I care? If she turns out to be related to Hayley also, what's the long-term story, and why should I care? I believe Hayley can work on her own as a vixen. Does she need a sounding board? Sure, but you can accomplish that with an outsider's friend group. I didn't think I would be saying this, but I would entertain Kat having a forbidden affair with Jacob. Both Naomi and Jacob need something to do other than case-of-the-month storylines.
    • That would really just be a redux of the Leslie/Eva story. I really hope they don't go there. My guess for the storyline with Anita that we have "never seen before on daytime" is that it may be a "me, too" story. Anita did unspeakable things to get ahead because of some disgusting producer, and the other person she left behind was a boyfriend who cared about her very much.
    • Reva and Zimmer needed strong adversaries/scene partners. It would dampen the negatives associated with the character and Zimmer's self-admitted excesses. I think that's why she was a bust on SB. I don't know how she did on her return to OLTL because I was not watching at that point. The problem for me with Reva is the same situation with Erica Kane. It ended up being variations of the same storyline year after year. I think if the show had truly broken up Reva and Josh and put them in other viable relationships it would have freed up the characters to have better storylines and character growth. Instead, it's as if the characters were stuck for decades.
    • I am still behind and know what upcoming week you are talking about.

And I know I'm not ready and have not been since the official news. That was my first couple on that show. You won't be alone.    When you put it like that...same. Like I say in the thread when I'm more interested in what people are wearing than the stories...red flag. No momentum. Just stalling.      lol.
