What’s Hot/What’s Not

-SOAPnet Breaks the Record Books in August:

Based on the just completed month of August, SOAPnet posted its highest rated month ever in primetime, with an average of 369,000 viewers. Of particularly positive note was the largest total viewer audience (460,000) for serial Days of Our Lives since debuting on the network in April 2001.

I believe all of SoapNet's soaps are having record highs and it's because the network is being carried by more cable companies now.

Days debut on Soapnet in March of 2004.

I wish we could find a way to count these numbers in the ratings :( .

Glad to hear Days is doing well-wonder how ABC likes that  .

GH had their SoapNet record 2 weeks ago.

I know Toups but Days is doing well and we know Y&R is doing well. I just think those shows, which are ahead of ABC in ratings, must be doing well in Soapnet and beating them as well but I may be wrong.

Or maybe I am just looking at an excuse to dig at ABC

Woot woot go DAYS. Does SoapNet release any ratings?

Yeah, SOAPnet is being carried in more homes, but the credit to these record ratings TOTALLY belong to the acquisition of Y&R, IMO.

Oh I agree. I will quibble a bit about the perecentage, that is, I wouldn't say Y&R is 100% of the reason but probably 80% or more with the remaining percentage possibly generated from a combo of curious former DOOL viewers checking out the "big changes @ DOOL buzz" (New HW coming + Patch and Kayla returns) and additional reach by SOAPnet.

I sure as HELL don't think new viewers/larger audiences are tuning in for ABCD considering their sucky broadcast ratings during Aug. If anything ABCD shows are picking up SOAPnet ratings because they were viewing for Y&R or DOOL and then managed to check out some ABCD soaps.

There's a good reason Fronsie put Y&R as the lead-in for his ABCD soaps. He's always so busy with the damned gimmicks, trickery and skullduggery in seeking his elusive demo. If only he'd figure out that decent storytelling is what KEEPS audience. The PT Barnum of Soaps may know how to generate sensation and PR but doesn't know a damned thing about what will keep them watching once he has their attention.

Something else about Y&R on SOAPnet. Maybe expected it's CBS ratings to drop due to the extra airings, but they've actually been going UP from what I've noticed! I think the ABC viewers who wouldn't normally watch a CBS soap are seeing Y&R and thinking, "Damn, why am I watching this McTavish crap?!"

Not only is Y&R helping SOAPnet, but it's putting their own soaps to shame. I'm so glad Days is back on it's feet so SOAPnet can at least have two good soaps.

Maybe idiotic SoapNet should give DAYS a friggin' good timeslot! MORONS!

My parents haven't been able to watch DAYS since it moved from 7:00 to 11:00. :(

I SOOO agree with you on this one! None of my SOAPnet watching friends have been able to catch DAYS because it airs too late at night.

Not to mention how STUPID it was of SOAPnet to bump DAYS back an hour on Thursdays to accomodate lame SOAPSTAR. And if you noticed, most of those "Can't Miss Moments" happened to fall on a Thursday!

Frons just got Soapnet, and now all of a sudden we start hearing about Soapnet's growing ratings. I notice it is 'record' numbers, not mentioning the real numbers at all. It's right out of 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.." All spin to make HIM look competent.
