  1. Yea, to all of those on GL...God, who thought those island people were interesting??? Reva ate up the show during Long's AW had San Cristobal and GL had San Cristobel, if I just assigned them the right one but it was never as bad at AW as GL where it was officially a second location and for way too long. If not for Olivia & Jonathan it wouldn't have been worth it if you ask me. But, for DOOL as much as I love Crystal Chappell, her first tenure at DOOL was as Dr. Carly Manning who was gobbling up all real estate. Besides her being a doctor along with Tom & Marcus, they did a - granted lovely, well done - retcon to make her Jennifer Rose's roomie when they were in Switzerland Boarding School.
  2. Oh, now, surely not, how could a few - count them FIVE - take up precious airspace. Kristen, Susan, Sister Mary Moira, Penelope & Tomas, I loved that story, but it was like a whole new family had been introduced & were gobbling up all available bandwidth! I do love that ED did it to herself though. They were going to hire someone to play Susan & she just tossed off, "Why don't you let me do that?" It remains my only favorite JER storyline.
  3. I don't remember CC being very self-reflective. Mason, yes. CC no. Of course, Mason thought too much. And, he thought specifically about CC too much. I just can't believe that Lane & Nancy dated & nobody found it out at that time. And, I think it's downright childish that Lane & Nancy broke up because of disagreements they had about what they wanted to happen to their characters!
  4. Gentleman Jack HBOMax Mon. pm S2E2 5-2-22 Two Jacks Don't Suit When we begin we're in a restaurant at a table, there's quite a crowd of people, and, oh, yes, we're in Paris. GJ is still walking just as fine, talking just as fine, addressing the camera directly just as fine, in short the good stuff from last week is back again this week. Oh, and, kissing and making love just as fine. Right off, a plump, chest-heavy woman joins them by appropriating a nearby chair with one hand & slapping it under the table halfway between our girls who, yes, are seated across from each other & not on the same side. That would be too modern for the 1800s. I believe this is Mrs. Laughton but if it's not her they we have a name for someone whose not here & no name for someone who is. Now, Isn't she insipid? Be happy for me. Just who is supposed to have said that? And, who repeated it to us? And, who is it about? That lost me. Do better Wainright. Next up: Maryanna with a question mark. But then maybe it is a sprinkling of Maryanna's thoughts as she surely must think that Anne is a force of nature. I wish they'd give us an unambiguous answer to how much does Anne really love our new soon-to-be like bride. After all, two Jacks don't suit. Maybe Maryanna is a Jack, most assuredly Jack is a Jack. We see someone go calling on old lady Walker with news that the Alps were actually an improvement by everyone. Oh, this is a sister to Anne Lister, well what errands will they not do for her! Mrs. Walker objects to getting messages passed to her instead hearing directly from her niece. Furthermore, Miss Lister is worldly & you, my dear, are naive. We're in the barn with someone whose seat is definitely below the salt. She wants them to help unpack all of this so she can start a meal. Amy doesn't want to learn to read. One of the boys chased her around with a pig's head. Who did that to you, lad? Uncle Ben? (Anyone know who this person is?) Grew up with pig parts, was going to apologize. The mountains & snow & then them holding hands looking at this massive display of raw nature! So alive & so happy! Now we have a circle of men & women. ... dereliction of duty ... ignored & humiliated ... people will talk ... going to live together ... do something & then feel the consequences ... figuring a husband ... A couple, M&W, copulating, from the rear, both standing, said I wrote & told him. I never did. Came from here. You? Is this Maryanna? I don't see how it could be. What saddens her friends, saddens her. Our young Miss Walker has some questions? Some concerns? What is this about before her? You said you had never done this before. She did. We heard her. You have to understand that I am older than you. There had been another, not this but something dear. Don't be jealous. Here, I don't know what 'Fair book selling?' means. Been a fair amt. not making sense tonight. Child asks, "Is she a man?" Not the first time that's happened & won't be a last. Mr. Sundelyn ... ? No idea. Adney is what Young Miss Walker calls me now. Saturday night? ?? She wants to go see her aunt. Take gifts, etc. They are now calling this groom by his middle name of George instead of his first name of Joseph. Customs had confiscated ladies' handkerchiefs, so she put them in her underwear. She said she had nothing to declare & they did not search her. Old Mrs. Walker was very ugly to them. That will probably mean they never see her again. Back at Shibden. Someone's been bullying his mother. George's dad wants to stay. Aunt Walker & the Misses Walker & Lister, we brought you gifts all the way from Paris. They almost reached the summit of Mount Blanc. (lost rest of episode, rewatch) She said she'd had heartache over this for her whole life - which is surely an exaggeration because she is older than Anne. She says how special Anne is & how you can't just put her into a box. For just one example, look at young Miss Walker's face! Have you ever seen anyone that happy? Anne & Miz Walker continue going through the house but their minds don't seem to be on their tasks. No wonder! Anne brings out the letter that was waiting for her when they got in & asks Miss Walker if she can read it for her. Letter from Miss Scarborough. She undertands she must give up doting on Freddy. She must love her less. She would like it if they could see each other sometime. How would your Miz Walker feel about such a visit & about being friends? Miss Walker looks like a burden has been lifted from her, She says they could be friends. Anne's mother & father come flying around the corner in this rig he bought that was too much for him. All for 100 guineas.
  5. You miss my point. I'm sure I didn't get it across well enough. I was attempting to tell you what kind of man he was *before* he became an FOJ, since I know what people thought of him after. Oh, okay. I had it in my head that there was a gap between one #SoapKIller, JFP, and another #SoapKiller McT. My error, entirely. What you had was like a tumbler of poison with a chaser of e coli.
  6. So, what you're saying in a nutshell is that Megan McTavish happened to GL, right?
  7. If SS had been perhaps mute, I might've liked her. No, I don't think so. There were her facial expressions, too. I promise Kale Browne, AW's Michael, OLTL's SamRappaport was a lovely person & good actor & didn't make enemies.
  8. OLTL was infested with FOJs! Friends of Jill, that is. Could not stand Lucy!
  9. Who is to say that it was worth it to take a chance on GR's behavior changing so he would not drive half of the cast crazy again, day in & day out? I can see bringing JC back but not Dwyer or Reinholdt; 1 was the subjective quality of acting; 2 were actual behavior on set & in studio.
  10. Yeah, May 4, 1964, and then there's also May 4, 1970* *On May 4, 1970, in Kent, Ohio, 28 National Guardsmen fired their weapons at a group of anti-war demonstrators on the Kent State University campus, killing four students, wounding eight, and permanently paralyzing another.
  11. Why in the world are they not solving a casting problem with a casting solution? Should surely do that before this nightmare. This will be condemned, wholesale. And so it should be.
  12. I don't think anyone would want to hear the allegation that they were actually bad in bed! Too close to the vest.
  13. I just thought of something that might be fun! Have both twins played fully all the time. Vicky would get into fights with everyone, not at the same time, one at a time. Marley would be everyone's best friend. Can you see it?
  14. Jerry & Robert Newman, both of them, show up in pictures like they defy the camera to dull them down. Just POP.
  15. I come at it from, a different place because I valued all the female friendships & rewarded the show with kudos when they supported them., etc. But, it I'm going to play 'what if', I think I would pick Donna & Rachel. As frosty & uppity as Donna was when we first got to know each other, us & Donna, and as entitled as Rachel could be, I can imagine them taking an instant dislike to each other. It would have been easy for the writers to set up. Sharlene had too big a chip on her shoulder; she'd come off as defensive all the time whining. And, Felicia really was more of a man's woman than a gf. I guess you see that just on instant reflection you pick Vicky to dust it up with more people than any other. And, Rachel & Vicky certainly had chances to p*ss each other off!
  16. Amen. I get so tired of the hero worship. One of his fans last week labeled him the most important person in all of TV & Movies. There's only so far that it's possible to roll one's eyes. It's nice to see AJ fans still here in the midst of Jason Land. Every year they wrote her what they could to be an Emmy reel show. How out of balance is that?! Neither Vicky Wyndham nor Beverlee McKinsey ever got an Emmy. The one year one of them should have it was both of them against Irene Daly, and they split the vote & amazing, Daly got the statue. I was always Team Jake & Paulina! I have long believed that no one realized what a jewel AW was till it was gone. SOD had a drop in subscriptions of a mil that looks like it was from AW fans leaving the building. I think NBC was actively trying to kill the show & P&G didn't like having to fight NBC all the time & didn't have the cajones to really support it or their other shows!
  17. You mean Jerry Ver Dorn? If so, he made a valiant effort at stepping into Buchanan boots, ... Clint. They say he succeeded.
  18. Yesterday I did a half a transcript for someone who has to have something done to the YT "video" to allow for his hearing problem & that will take some time. I thought I might as well upload it. Share, mon cher. This is the 2006 audio only interview with a member of WOST at an awards show. What he starts out talking about is the disastrous 90 minute show. I wanted also to add something about the timeline, etc. of Lemay/P&G events. Pete had not yet signed a new HW contract & P&G gave him a greenlight to go forward with a story where one of Pat & John's twins, Michael, core family member as a Matthews by blood, coming out as gay, in the 1980s. They carefully cast it & told the actor. Pete signed that contract. P&G changed their Yes to a No. Really charming business ethics. No, I thought it was a ridiculous idea. ... I fought it & I lost. ... Producer from NBC Freddy Silverman came up with the idea. ...I quit after about 18 weeks of it... There's nothing as bad as writing for something you don't believe in.... I think you get fairly burned out as a writer for a soap. ... To turn out a script every day ... 8 yrs of it ... script every day (He had already mentioned having to write a script & then take all the network notes & write it again) ... I think I lasted longer than I should have. Spoke highly of Aggie. Social issue stories ... she's telling very relevant stories. I'd like to be doing more of that. P&G puts the ?someword? on most of that & then you have to fight for what you want & soon you're having to fight for everything & it gets too too tiring to have to fight that much over what is your life. Spoke highly of Beverlee McKinsey ... revealed she had a photographic memory. She memorized every colon & semi-colon. She memorized her lines & everyone else's too. Her character's husband just would not learn his lines, just would paraphrase & it drove her mad! Talked about Iris's maid, Vivian & that they first saw her in a Chekhov play! Talked about Louise Goddard. Talked about Doug Watson & they & Pete & wife would go out together all the time. Close, warm friendship. He misses Connie & Doug.
  19. 1986 Daytime Emmy SB Won Their First, Their First Year Yes, and he was standing in a spotlight, I think too.Can we say arrogant? Yes, I thought we could! But, there's not anything terribly wrong with Wikipedia. Like most any place sometimes they can get something wrong & it hasn't been corrected yet. By & large though they get things right. Plus, Brian Frons, you recall that #SoapKiller? He cast himself as GOD, I kid you not, literally the arbiter of good & evil, in a scene with Mason Capwell. There's also a famous story, at the Emmys where the Dobsons were there & Jill Farren Phelps as Interim EP that NBC had appointed, and when SB won, there was a fight between Bridget & Jill. Okay, that is an urban myth! They were all present & Bridget got to the podium first & so accepted the Emmy & made a lovely acceptance speech. Jill looked like she was grinding her teeth on broken glass or something. But, a fight is someone's overactive imagination. I've put the URL up above here so you can see. Oh! One more true story: Robin Wright was chosen out of 100s of young beauties to play Buttercup in The Princess Bride & she was highly motivated to make the deal so she could be off long enough to do a feature film shooting in England. They did something, somehow which prevented her from making as much money from the movie as she could have & worse that that they made her pay the show back double in time.
  20. The answer doesn't mention said lawsuit, although I have heard that also, just that an agreement was reached with 2 bullet points to it - that Corday would own a stake & that Bell Sr. would still write DOOL for a time period. IRL he HW 2 shows for 2 yrs. IBM Selectric made of STEEL!
  21. Maureen Garrett is on Facebook. I think she is conservative in how much time she gives to the ether but she logged onto my soap page there just last week & made a post. I had uploaded this pic where she looks so young & she said that of course she did she was just a baby then.
  22. If I could only figure out what in the dickens MG is doing with her mouth! BTW, this is 2002 Josh & Reva wedding
