GH: July 2025 Spoilers
You're speaking of the Daytime Confidential poster who goes by "NYSam" and does have a very healthy record of being right. That said, VK is a non-starter & I do not believe the rumor about her came from "NYSam". He or she was right about Charles Mesure & Chris, the recast Jack Brennan. He or she has said that Jarly is endgame but will happen before the end of the year. (not Daytime Dish which is nothing but a bunch of highly toxic & possibly with real problems anonymous posters who basically say the same things over & over & attack in no meaningful pattern.) And, yes, absolutely Daytime Soap or whatever that YT woman with an accent is called is someone who takes the list of official previews & then elaborately makes stuff up!!! One of the worst!!! ETA: I remembered this awful woman on YT who makes up $hit is named Belinda. Incredible what minutiae can stick in one's head!

LOL, but, seriously, I know just what you mean. When I think about that generation of the Matthews family what pops into my head is the word "dour."

Both Pete & Paul were great fans of the theatre. They attended many plays together & actively recruited from them. That fact has been pointed to many times by various different people as one of the aspects that made AW so very good at that time. But, AW wasn't the only one to use actors from the theatre. All the NY shows did, at one time or another. I would agree about JC that it was definitely a blunder. I am totally unaware of Connie Ford ever changing her lines. Pete says quite clearly in his book that she didn't know it but she was what he referred to as his conscience. He meant by that after Connie would say her lines according to her comments about them, that kept him as a writer "honest". After one monologue possessed of a great deal of flowery language, he said she commented as she was leaving the set, "Whatever the hell that is supposed to mean!!"

You may get a lot of different answers. To me, yes, he was that good!! In terms of taking criticism, I think it's all down to who it was from & what the content of it was. I do think he could take constructive criticism because if he could not, I don't think he could've functioned as he did & as well. One thing that is different about others compared to him is that he took the whole thing on himself which probably gave him HW burnout faster & deeper if he had not. For a couple of years, he wrote everything himself, no breakdown writers & no script writers. I'm sorry, I forgot that you've read his book.

I would not say that he was fixated on either of the two actresses or the actor. If he was fixated on any actresses, they were probably Connie Ford & Vicky Wyndham. With Dwyer, it was his contention that she refused to learn lines instead substituting her knowledge of the character & saying what she thought Mary would say. With Courtney, he did not think she could act, which I interpret to really mean that he did not like her style of acting. George, the original bad boy of soaps, was more of a thing, a problem for Paul, not Pete. But, I will & do recommend his book to any & all.

ALL: Speculation on the Future of Successful Daytime Soap Operas
What people are not thinking of is an hour sans commercials IS 36 minutes. A half hour sans commercials is 18 minutes. and, the profit motive is strong & alive and I keep saying "A rising tide lifts all boats." which is the way I feel about the effect of BTG.

I believe that is not likely. The situation with ad revenue is such that hour long soaps are, I believe, slightly more than twice as profitable as half hour is. You might not think that a little bit more would make a big difference, but it does seem to. And half hour I think would only be seen as experimental & not be taken seriously at all.

But, we don't know if that was his decision or if it was Paul's. Sure, as HW it would have been his job to implement it, though.

BTG: July 2025 Discussion Thread
OH! My first time was truly awful. Just forget it. I am not willing to discuss it. Okay, well, I will say this much. I was drunk, not surprising or unusual, probably, but, it was on Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill wine. Cheap, but plentiful, sugary, when my regular drink was either Scotch & water or a gin & tonic. In the morning, I boarded a Greyhound bus & rode for, I think it was, 12 hours. Later, driving it I could do it in 9 but all those stops. Oh yeah, I was still drunk in the morning. I am lucky I did not get sick.

DAYS: July 2025 Discussion Thread
This is just the right time. They made opening statements today & 2 people were called to the stand. It's odd, Belle, DA, says outright that she does NOT believe that Johnny did it. That, of course, is out in the hall. As soon as we go inside & the judge begins the proceedings, Belle goes into attack mode. You would never associate that snarling tiger with someone who so sweetly just said how much she believed in his innocence. If this is the reality of lawyers, ugh. I do know that every lawyer I've ever known who watched any soap says they get it all wrong! But, it seemed right today, which is odd, for Salem, but it's still new, the "not Ronness" of it all. I don't know if we could say that the new writers are the anti-Rons but they are definitely different. And that is a good thing.

Know what you mean. I would never wish someone losing a job, but ... with Tomas, I do not feel like he is actually acting. He poses & the camera loves him but that is not acting. I think he's really a model in sheep's clothing. He relies on his good looks but has zero charisma. Someone said that Eva was flat, well Tomas is flatter.

I have an edit I did of the day they became partners. 9-20-17 they were both bidding on it. A third bidder outbid them. They put their heads together & then they bid together.

Are you kidding me?!!! Carly's been kept in the dark about so many things!!! Yesterday FINALLY she learned at least one thing. Hot Angry Sex with Nina & Drew! She still does not know Joss is a WSB agent. Joss killed Cyrus. Brennan cleaned up after, hid the body & framed Jason with 2 hairs. LW said everyone asks the same question: What is Carly gonna do when she finds out blah blah blah? She says she replies What do you think she's gonna do? She's gonna lose her $hit.

I think that's very cool. And, with this show, in particular, I can see that. I guess I have 4 on my short list. Derek, Ashley, Tomas & ... here's where I may get in trouble, but Hayley. I have not liked her since that first day with those cookies.

Ashley? Really? Well, it takes all kinds. Whatever floats your boat. Seriously, though, she is not for me but I don't mind her having some fans. The more the merrier. Sorry, all out of cliches.
