  1. For the Chief reveal? Yeah, could it have been more obvious?! I mean, there's worthy, and then there's really Emmy worthy!!! I have no problem saying that Duncan was robbed. And, then, to add insult to injury, they just let her rot in jail. GOOD GRIEF! We needed her for the last years. And, then, Goutman tried to get Bev, which okay I can see that. But, when her doctor said she couldn't fly that quickly after the transplant, WHY DID HE NOT get Carmen?!!! I'm gonna say it, STUPID. If I imagine the look on Rachel's face if Iris knocked on her door ... YES!!
  2. Love him! Of course, it's by reputation only & some quotes. From Joe Willmore, P & EP on ATWT & GL & GH, RIP 2021 “If it’s not believable & it’s motivated out of character, that’s when they’re going to turn you off. If it comes out of character & it’s well done, then you’re going to see your numbers go up.” Willmore’s proudest moment as executive producer came on the eve of the show’s 20th anniversary in April of 1976. The serial had dipped to sixth place in the ratings, but it was beginning to regain prominence with the Bob/Jennifer/Kim/John story. Willmore waited until he received the ratings to leave for the celebration party, and when he arrived, he took the microphone and told everyone that “As the World Turns” had resumed its rightful place and was number one again! (Both quotes & the other one about him throwing up, all from KZ's book.) And, just because, my favorite Jill Lorie Hurst quote "Script writing is the secret weapon of daytime. They paint the picture. A good script writer is everything." - Jill Lorie Hurst, 3-15-23, Locher Room chat room
  3. Who was EP during that strike?
  4. 100% Co-sign!!! I, for one, thought that Cary Christopher, who plays Thomas DiMera on DAYS, should have won last go-round & yes, I do like Eden. He's just IMO a really talented little guy. Whenever, or if, DAYS is done with him, I hope he lands on another soap. If they wanted to slightly SORAS Wiley on GH, he would be excellent & he looks like Rory!
  5. Two different people told me last week that someone complained after 2018 & that was why/when they stopped releasing the reels to the public, which to me is an ugh. Loved getting to see them.
  6. The things that stand out to me. No win for Victoria Wyndham. No win for Beverlee McKinsey. (And, at GL she did not allow herself to be submitted, so that is a totality situation.) When Irene Dailey won for Aunt Liz up against both VW & Bev, it is the year I believe that Bev talks about in the CITY LIGHTS Interview where as soon as the Emmys were over she & VW went together to the first possible establishment & asked for a table with some privacy & liquor & talked for some time. Imagine being a fly on that wall. 1996 when CK & Anna K. Holbrook won they were both let go so the joke was, "Win an Emmy but Lose your regular gig!"
  7. I loved that comprehensive post you made last week!!!
  8. https://www.instagram.com/p/DMQgMQhJRLU/ The Devil in Doug P1 Continuing to honor my own personal Best Supporting Actress, Julie!
  9. I had the oddest thing happen to my phone. It had been plugged in overnight but it hadn't charged. It was down to 1%. It turned itself off. Experimenting a bit I realized I had a bad cord. Now it's fine.
  10. Sure thing. You're right. I think we do better when we post about the topic at hand. Thanks for that nudge. I wish it were possible to run polls here. Just did the Love/Hudson twins elsewhere. Upfront it's accepted that the Marley wig is hated. And, no one votes for Rhonda Lewen. Then: Who is your favorite "Just Marley"? Who is your favorite "Just Vicky"? Who is your favorite playing both? If anyone chooses to say I will make note of replies. My answers are: Ellen Wheeler, Anne Heche, Anne Heche.
  11. Yea & Hooray, but Ed Zwick also one of my favorite primetime soaps, ONCE & AGAIN! Whether Lucci or EF, cannot blame them about not wanting to be made a grandmother too young! Isn't it funny that both of them sing?!
  12. I don't know when either. I just thought of that "don't make me a grandmother" thing but maybe that was Lucci. Speaking of Lisa I am still bitter that Goutman so misused her at the end. Inexcusable! BTW, Eileen was a special favorite of my mother's. Makes her extra endearing to me. Wasn't she Eldridge twice? I really like that showrunner guy isn't his name Zwick?
  13. Again, NOT recommending this book because the name Swajeski is in one sentence. About the networks pushing violence against women at this time!!! I guess I should have cut that line since some people seem not to be able to read critically. I swear I bet the rest of you did not have any trouble understanding. I really hate the way this software merges replies. People make separate replies for reasons. Oh, for god's sake. I bet he has no clue what people say about him.
  14. JFP tried to win Emmys because it was a metric she could try to accomplish & in fact it it likely one of the few reasons why she was hired over & over. IOW, it was something concrete she could try to do & if she accomplished it, point to it as a sign of her success. Two things are commonly mentioned in this regard about JFP, winning awards & getting demos up. The questions we need to ask, it seems to me, are does it increase what an advertiser is willing to spend on 30 seconds of YOU? Is there any particular cache added to your reputation? Does it indicate quality in an arena where there is little to go by? Will an actor get a raise because of winning one? IOW, do they come into negotiations at all? Then, of course, there is the morale-boosting element. And, it is the only routine time when people in this business all get together at one place, etc. I've heard many actors mention this as a very positive thing.
  15. Some people posting here assume that others posting here are idiots & on top of that they presume to know what others are thinking & they are about 98% of the time WRONG. If it were me, I would spend my time much more intelligently. Instead of posting & just wasting a great deal of everyone's time. It is laughable what they say. As if it needed to be said that remembering is different than citing. That is the funniest line I have heard this whole week. Edit to Add: Of course I've read the book, are you crazy? You make me wonder with some of the more outrageous presumptuous things that you choose to say. You just might want to think about it before you accuse others of not understanding what they have read & saw fit to bring here to share. But, just because it is not something I would say doesn't mean the same to you, necessarily.
  16. I have a grave concern then, because if we make a list of the stories he was terrible at writing, I'm not sure we will have any left. Mental illness, no, diversity, god no, humor, omg no, mystery/whoddunnnit, do I have to say it? Okay, get serious, what is it that he CAN write? Answers are being solicited. Wait. Is there some actual intel?
  17. I was posting elsewhere & saying I had to remind myself that not everyone hates Ron, as I do. Of course that was followed by a horde of ME TOO posts. Oh my poor Ron, we all hate him & with a passion, as is said. Some people who did not watch his DAYS ask why? Really hard to explain, unless one uses the word hack, which also is a word that is used today about JG. So, what is being said? Could Ron be a paramedic trying to save Y&R but not be the family doctor who sustains the patient after the crisis is over? Of course, that idea, getting past the current state, yes, maybe it would be just what the doctor ordered. The only problem I see is how would you get rid of him at that time? Answers are being solicited.
  18. One of the problems in trying to talk about something like this is that it was a long time ago & in a way things were different. For example, the web as we know it had only come fully into existence since 1993. Today we are used to grabbing a link but then I'm not at all sure we even fully grasped what an URL was, why that "http" stuff mattered. For example, from my notes, I have a post written in reaction to Swajeski's exit interview, likely in SOD but possibly instead in Weekly. He remembers, as I do, what she said not only about the rape but the larger picture of "warring" between P&G and NBC & that so many things seemed to be changed "in midstream". Further he remembers there was a picture of her holding an AW coffee cup. I realize you may not credit it but I'm copying that post in here. (It was posted on one of many AW web boards.) Poster's name withheld, at least for now.
  19. Perhaps it is necessary for me to say again, to emphasize that I am recommending this book because it is one text which discusses that some networks at this time pushed violence against women. There is more like this, here, and also in other texts. The words speak for themselves. How much more pressure could be applied than saying that it increased ratings?
  20. Whatever floats your boat. Me, I see "Eileen Fulton billing" and I automatically think "not a grandmother thing" so it doesn't work for me at all. When they came back to DAYS in '91 Deidre Hall & Wayne Norrthrup had preferential treatment in billing & I can't find a way to bring ATWT's Lisa into it. YMMV.
  21. I'm not aware of anyone suggesting that Levine interviewed Swajeski at all. I recommended her book because she talks about the network promoting violence against women. I'm pretty sure that is what I said. If I understand what you're saying, I think that she did so. I believe that what she wrote was a scene where he tried to be physically romantic toward her in his attempt to show her that he loved her & why he was against the divorce. So, he would've tried to embrace her & kiss her. Thank you. I knew that. Just an ordinary typo.
  22. This, of course, disagrees with what has been stated in interviews. I am not aware of any reasons why we should doubt her version of events, especially knowing that the network, NBC, promoted violence against women. If you don't know about this, I recommend HER STORIES by Elana Levine, although it can be found in other texts.
  23. I just plain like the actress, here & on ATWT, but never felt I got as much of her as I would've liked. This is one of my Stunt: Recast Reveals where she is featured. https://www.instagram.com/p/DMRT9PSJgve/ This I call a stunt. This one is ATWT & one actor is playing a character who is on a date with another character & flirting & getting to know one another & some kissing & halfway through the actor changes! Recast Reveal Stunt! For your edification, that is called "preferential treatment in billing", not to be confused with star billing or billing above or before the title. And, it is a contract item.
  24. You are of course entitled to your opinion. If you knew me, well, that doesn't really help anything. It is unlikely that I will disabuse you of this notion. My best advise to you, since you feel this way, would be to put me on Ignore. I have a dozen people on Ignore & it works like a charm. Have a nice day. These should not have been merged. I am curious. I don't know if any of you watch GH. A few years back now, Disney issued an edict, no more rapists, redeemed or not, as romantic leads. Full Stop. Period. And, further, Deal with it NOW. Franko had been redeemed by the medical trick of a brain tumor. Too bad. He could not continue as husband, surrogate father to 3 boys, done, finito. Now, in future of course this situation will not arise. Which to my way of thinking is more or less optimal. So, I bring it up to solicit your opinion.
  25. If you look at pictures of Amanda Setton on Getty Images or the like, where she's really dressed up, red carpet, etc. back when she was on OLTL, it is a totally different person, at least as far as clothes go. Look, you'll see. And, the way she was comfortable dressing at the end of that time, is likely the way she was at the beginning of her tenure at GH. I think she married & this is speculation but something about her new husband made her begin some kind of transformation. It's a theory. Shoot it full of holes, at will.
