Sign me up for liking both eras, as well! The self-contained episodes (which, really, if you think about it, also had strong hints of serialized stories, arcs and character development), could stand on their own but also perfectly supplemented the more soapy/continuous parts of the show. In a way, they provided all the building blocks that made the show so strong afterwards. Currently going through Season 5 for the first time, and I am in awe of how well plotted, written and executed it is. I really do appreciate the complexity. Chris, you are so right.... it's a business story, well thought out and intricate, but the main focus is the characters and what they do to each other. That way, it doesn't become too technical, but it's also far from generic. It's soapy bliss!

Loved it! Glad that Bran isn't dead and was really shocked by the attempted murder scene... that bitch Catelyn can sure fight, she taught that killer how to do it. And, then, the direwolf... that was very well done. They're so cute how they defend their owners lol Joffrey is a little disgusting bitch. That was so sad with the butcher's son and then Lady. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way... Despite the character, I just find him incredibly hot. LOL All those scenes with him naked today (bonus bum!) were great! Btw, Daenery's is really fascinating to watch. She's growing on me. Tyrion continues to be a favorite. I'm telling you, come Emmy time, he'll be there. Nice to see the relationships between Jon and his family. How Catelyn despises him, but Arya and the rest couldn't care less. They're doing some great character interaction. Come to think of it, I generally like all the characters... Loved the ending. You know sh*t is gonna go down!

Yes, the promotional campaign has been nothing short of brilliant. The opening credits were really nice, too. I hope they can keep this up, I hear it only gets better with each episode. We shall see!

That was really good. The opening scenes especially were breathtaking and the tone and production of the whole thing was great. Loved that ending. Will definitely be tuning back.

Caught up with Thursday and Friday. Both were absolutely brilliant. IA with you guys.... the actor playing Rob is magnificent; I can see him as both a really great, nice, sensitive guy and a villain--often at the same time. Whitney's great in all of this and Janine has always been a fave, but this is earning her some major points. Very, very exciting stuff.

Loved Monday and Tuesday's episodes... everything with Janine and Carol was so incredibly well done. When everyone was confronting Janine for not telling them about Whitney, you had the sense that these were real people fighting--Janine was trying to stay calm, relieve the tension... it wasn't just characters yelling insults at each other. And loved how they did that whole thing with Carol praying and showing Lauren and Janine searching.

^^LOL That's hilarious I've stayed away from any songs other than Hold It Against Me and 'Til The World Ends. I want to get the full, deluxe edition, effect when I get the album.

Been almost a year since I last watched... last Thursday's episode wasn't half bad, it seemed a bit tighter than it was last time I took a look. And I like Alfie! lol

Loving all the Set Fire to the Rain love... I am listening to it right now and it's been on repeat all day! Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You are also favorites but I have yet to finish listening to the whole album. And, damn, she makes some pretty good videos!

Loving it! It'll be great to dance to. And the whole til the world ends part comes so unexpectedly, an attack of energy, it rejuvenates you for the last minute. So much fun!

Yep, it was almost as if they purposefully didn't want to give you enough time to take in what you were seeing so you don't realize it's bad. And it was. Those caps from the article Sylph posted... the lighting is bad, Britney looks horrible, puffed up, it's a mess.

I really loved Sam when he came on... but he fizzled pretty quickly. Brittany is love. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Santana is, too.

Not sure how I feel about the video yet.... There are parts of it that I really loved (the beginning of that wedding gown segment, when the color started getting everywhere, when she fights herself, when she falls down all colorful) but the parts where she dances are just horrid (and a horrible end to the video in general).

I kinda feel that the video to Bad Romance was what started all this really crazy Lady Gaga phase... It was weird, unexpected, fun and, all of a sudden, it took over everything... every appearance had to be shocking, every moment had to be crazy. The Kermit outfit, the meat outfit, the Telephone video, they all played into that. Was it fun? Sure. But it would be foolish to think that it was sustainable and, as soon as the video for Alejandro came out, you could tell it wasn't going to continue. Now, with the egg and everything, she's trying to continue all this and, slim though it was, the chance of it working out is gone. She should just go back to making music and forget about shocking people all the time. Although I can only imagine how "bland" it could look if she went from what she's doing to "simple" videos.

It was pretty ridiculous that Blaine, all of a f-ucking sudden, was in love with somebody else... After all the flirting he's been doing with Kurt? Smacked of a filler plot twist.

It was pretty smart of them to feature Sue so heavily. She is always hilarious and consistently the most interesting one on the show. Finn, for once, wasn't a total idiot. Britney continues to be totally hilarious and awesome. Blaine and Kurt are extreme love and I'm glad they're taking this slowly. That is all.
