HBO: Game of Thrones
Great article on the show http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2014/mar/22/game-of-thrones-whats-not-to-love Joffrey's evilness knows no bounds. You are absolutely correct that the guy is a hero for even daring to show his face in public with such a character! Those commentaries sound amazing. You're making me want to get the DVDs just for that.

OMG you ruined the surprise! I was going to post the video without spilling the whole thing. But no fear, there is one more cameo on the video that's still a surprise

OMG! I can't believe they chose G.U.Y, out of all songs, to make a video of (no Dope? No Gypsy? Not even Do What U Want?) but oh my God this was very enjoyable. And the cameos in it you WON'T BELIEVE. Laughed my ass off. And very nice to see some representation of Artpop. I love that song.

The Kylie Minogue Thread
I'm enjoying the album very much. Feels So Good is a definitely highlight for me. And they'll be stupid if they don't release Beautiful as a single in the US. Enrique Iglesias still gets played on the radio and the song is perfect to get Kylie some US airplay. And it's produced by Mark Taylor! I would love if he did more with Kylie, their sounds/styles could really mesh well.

Falcon Crest
I haven't heard that as the consensus at all. I have mainly heard that as early as Season 4, the show was destabilized by the network's insistence to drop the main, Nazi-themed storyline midseason and de-emphasize the gothic elements, which lead a top 10 show to plummet horribly. Even long-time fans say that seasons 5-8 just kept getting worse and worse. As for season 9, some... fans... vehemently hate it (and I wouldn't count on the fan site for any genuine criticism of that season) but what I've seen of it was very good--dark, moody and brilliant. Maggie's death was superb, for example.

HBO's Looking
Great episode, although I hesitate to call it a season finale, since the end is too soon/too abrupt (if that makes any sense). The show evolved into something really great. I hate that it was only 8 episodes. Most shows will need 2-4 episodes to really get going and, then, you don't have enough time to really solidify and pull the audience in for good. Just when you are excited for the next four/five episodes to round things up and give a good ending/cliffhanger, oops! the show is gone for another year. I think they could have benefited from a longer episode run. Doris' "Dom is worth it" brought me to tears. She's truly fantastic. I died when she said, "more gay men, that's just what I need" or something to that effect. And Richie & Patrick's official break up scene was very sad. As for Kevin/Patrick... I thought it was hot. HAWT. I find Tovey very attractive and it's only logical that Patrick's first time as a bottom would be awkward/weird. I do like Richie as a person much more than Kevin, but Kevin and Patrick as a couple are the stuff that makes great drama. Kevin's alpha male, relentless, powerful nature against Patrick's desire to feel validated and wanted/needed. Not to mention the fact that Kevin won't be leaving his boyfriend. It's just fodder for a lot of story. Of course, Richie and Patrick have their own difficulties as well, which is why I'm invested in both these relationships going on into season 2. Agustin is a nasty little bitch but the actor is really fantastic. And, come on, you gotta feel a little sad for him after Frank tells him he will never be anything but mediocre. Ouch. Lovely little ending with Patrick and the Golden Girls episode/theme song.

Dynasty Discussion Thread
That is certainly true. They erratically threw stuff on the wall (i.e. story twists and turns) and hoped something would stick, logic be damned. At this point it's almost not entertaining anymore. That's hilarious. Interesting also that this is right before the show started plummeting in the ratings (the quality decline happened years ago) and yet, despite its number 1 position, it sounds as if people weren't taking it that seriously and making funny/snarky remarks all along. Granted, this is a small sample but I just had to roll my eyes at the cheering every time Collins would change her outfit. I mean, if that's the highlight of the episode....

Dear God... Amanda has known that insipid rat Michael for all of one episode. On the beginning of the second episode of the storyline, she wants nothing to do with him on the first scene she's shown and, by the second, Michael's professing his assurance in Amanda's love for him. By the end of the episode, Michael says he loves her too. Two episodes. Two. And that is only a small part of the horrors of Season 5. The same episode also features Steven proclaiming several times that he wants a "normal" lifestyle and that being gay will never fulfill him. Ah, bless....

HBO: Game of Thrones
The showrunners' plan is for the show to last 7 seasons. Hmmmm not sure how they'll achieve that when it took a whole season to tell less than half of book 3. But perhaps, once they finish with season six, they'll skip whatever storylines they feel are necessary and get to the end point. Then again, it might not be that impossible, especially since they know the end of it. The problem there being, of course, that I don't think they'll be allowed to end the show in the same way as the books before the books are published. I'd be perfectly happy with 10 seasons, though http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/03/11/game-of-thrones-7-seasons/

HBO: Game of Thrones
It's exciting to read your thoughts as you discover the show! I recognize a lot of them as what I experienced back then. Meanwhile, I've been reading A Storm of Swords. What a great book! It's been making me rethink Season 3 (which I thought was a great season) and how, in hindsight, Theon's torture porn doesn't seem as bad as it did in a once-a-week basis.

The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
Good episode, overall. The opening scene was great. What an inspired thing, to pair such opposite individuals as Daryl and Beth. It should be interesting to see how many ways that implodes. Maggie going through the bus was heart wrenching although Glenn's explanation that he got out of the bus was kinda thrown away and weak. But was worth it for the sight of him in riot gear I'm glad Judith's alive! Carol! How very soapy that Carol is now stuck with Tyrese. WTF was that campy trio at the end? It felt like we suddenly stepped into DYNASTY-style acting. I hope that will change in the next episode lol Great location work, btw. Really enjoying all the outdoors scenes we're getting to see. The train tracks was a particular favorite. She did. She said she couldn't find Beth but she knows Glenn got out and which way he went, so she chose her best option.

RHOA: Two things I'll say: Nene's comments about Brandon were disgusting. She just kept going and going, and it became worse as she went. SMH at all of them putting the blame squarely on Kenya. (Yep, still think bitch should have stayed sitting. Still think Chris was DEAD WRONG for grabbing her like that--he could have just put his body between Kenya and his wife if he was so worried). But NO blame put on Apollo? He gets away with it?

The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
Terrific return. The insight into Michonne's past life. Seeing a walker that reminded her of herself. Breaking down and killing all the walkers. Returning to follow Rick & Carl's tracks. The little monologue she had. Her reaction to finding them. Brought me to tears several times throughout the episode. Carl is growing into quite the performer, isn't he? I LOVED his monologue while Rick was sleeping/unconscious. So much psychological damage & hurt. And, yet, he still retains a playfulness (the writing on the door, the chocolate pudding). The "oh, sh!t" cliffhanger was terrifying, as was fighting the walker in the house. And that little scene where he thought Rick turned. Great work. Rick is so destroyed, in so many ways. Is he really weak? I've never thought of it this way. The writing has managed to keep him away from that exalted stereotype of the ruthless, strong man and he is ten times more fascinating for it. When he has to make the tough decisions, it has even more impact. In the end, Rick's still human, with a heart, with conflicting emotions, and a position he doesn't necessarily want to have. I am so thankful he's not the male lead caricature that so many want him to be. And the way they did the ending was unexpected. Such a ray of light among all the bleakness.
