Primetime Soaps
I've been watching Sisters lately and it's easy to sometimes forget how soapy it actually was, especially with the insistence at the time it was a "drama". It's very much a soap with that early 90s quirkiness they loved to add onto shows back then post-Twin Peaks.

Knots Landing
I think that was an overall Lorimar issue outside their main casts. Or rather, they casted a lot of bland actors / actresses that were forgettable - Dallas and Falcon Crest also had this issue compared to Dynasty, which did seem to get casting right, or at least memorable, even if the writing wasn't the best. I think a lot of that had to do with Aaron Spelling being willing to take bigger swings while the Lorimar soaps preferred to play it "safe".

I think it's hard to tell how this will affect the show since they're 10 months ahead at this point and if they were just fired, I'd assume they'll still have a few weeks of filming left and wrapping up their storylines. So it's roughly a year (!!) until we see their exit; it could very well be that their storylines have (for now) reached their natural conclusion and they have other young couples filling up their space on the canvas.- Aretha's albums ranked

I think Kristen and Peter were meant to be fairly close in age (like two years max), so I didn't think a younger / older sibling dynamic was ever established.- ALL: Proposed Soaps Over The Years
Probably the cost of having it set at a ski resort plus it sounds kind of Love Boat, but with snow (not the fun kind). Or maybe a more expensive Hotel. Either way, it sounds more episodic than the soapy Fox 90s.- DAYS: December 2025 Discussion Thread
Tbh, the previous Jeremy's run was so brief that I'm completely fine with them glossing it over and rebooting the character. They've acknowledged his past and him actually changing for the better seems fine to me. There's been far worse on DAYS where the character didn't even get a lengthy hiatus and recast.- Your daily (or nightly) thought

Have we seen Theo's abs? Otherwise, I'm not sure what acting "technique" they're talking about here... drink less water if shirtless scenes?- DAYS: December 2025 Discussion Thread
@Khan- Knots Landing
IIRC, they actually did mention Lucy in the final season and that she was travelling in Europe (which was how she was written out on Dallas for the second time).- DAYS: December 2025 Discussion Thread
All a sign that The Cheatin' Heart is making a comeback. Roman's pub quiz starts scaring off customers because he gets really oddly anal about it (just look at how much he had to explain a simply concept) and Bonnie buys the old Cheatin' Heart to reopen, kicking off #PubWars2026.- Knots Landing
TBH, it felt like season 13 really torpedo'd the shows chances of doing that with the short-term thinking of killing off Steve and particularly Linda. The killing off Steve also meant that Claudia had kind of crossed a line it never felt she recovered from. Linda of course felt really like a modern character for the 90s and would've fit right into the Melrose Place era.- DAYS: December 2025 Discussion Thread

I want to watch this lusty bold series!- Knots Landing
I think that was also supposed to be their initial "conflict" when Jacobs imagined it as a "No Down Payment" / "Scenes from a Marriage"-esque show; Richard was meant to be the status-seeker always wanting more with Laura as the more grounded and practical one, thus him feeling like she was holding him back.- ARTICLE: Lauralee Bell Talks Directing & New Soap In Development, Plus Michael Damian Touts Netflix Success (EXCLUSIVE)
The fact that she mentions actually watching soaps helps. I feel a lot of people behind the scenes aren't even fans of the genre, so they end up taking the cynical shallow approach to producing them (ie quick thrown together stunts, no long-term planning and rewards etc).- Primetime stars - Their hits and misses...
"Carol & Company" had a really novel premise, but I could see why Carol herself elected to end it. The show debuted high, but fell out of the top 30 after the initial episode order. That's why it ended. That Carol herself wants to save face and claiming she choose to end it is another matter...- Primetime stars - Their hits and misses...
David Boreanaz has had a similar run, starting with Buffy (1997-1999), Angel (1999-2004), Bones (2005-2017) and SWAT (2017-2024). This year is the first time he's not had a lead role on a television series in 27 years!- DAYS: November 2025 Discussion Thread
Considering his family was involved with Mike Horton in the past, I feel like they'll make him Mike's son and Jeremy's half-brother. Just my guess, and unfortunately it makes me wonder if we're in for another Charlie / Tripp situation where it'll end up being a case of mistaken identity. Just my gut feeling and not based on spoilers. - ARTICLE: ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Fires Four: Carson Boatman, Raven Bowens, Leo Howard & Ashley Puzemis
