BTG: First-ever role recast!
Well, we'll just have to wait and see? The truth is that I don't think Maurice Johnson has done badly in the role so far, but he's also far from a breakout star. He's ok. But we simply do not know how things will look at the end of the first 13 episode cycle - the green newbies could've started outpacing him for all we know and he might've been given more complex material than he's gotten so far that he couldn't portray to their satisfaction. I mean, we'll just have to wait at this point and see if there's something that Keith D Robinson brings out in Ted that just isn't present in Maurice Johnson's portrayal. As has been speculated - maybe he just simply made Ted too sympathetic, thus the entire revenge saga with Silkpress Sheila just ended up entirely one-sided.

BTG: First-ever role recast!
No offense to the work Errol, Toups and everyone else puts into this board, but we count as "the few" as this is a fairly niche soap opera message board. Add that Keith D Robinson has quite a resume - and no disrespect against Maurice Johnson - but it wouldn't surprise me if he does well and even better in the role.

Knots Landing
Well, the reason they wrote her off was because they had a budget crunch, like a lot of aging shows. They simply had to cut some veteran players to make the budget work and her becoming secondary to Greg just left her vulnerable to being written out, same with Lillimae who was just a talk-to at that point. It wasn't because Laura was complicated - it was because Constance was paid a lot more than she was used. I can't honestly say that if I had been a producer faced with budget cuts that I would've chosen different characters to cut.

The issue is that Laura had become secondary to Greg in their marriage. I think the last time Laura really mattered a lot was in season 5 when they started taking her in a more "grey" direction, which would've been an interesting balance and bridge between Karen / Val and Abby. Unfortunately, excluding her from the season 5 cliffhanger could be seen as a sign of diminished importance. Also, the fact that they never let Jason age along with Olivia, Eric and Michael is telling.

BTG: First-ever role recast!
Sunset Beach has a better example - Ashley Hamilton originated the role of Cole and played him for about a month before being replaced with Eddie Cibrian. Ultimately... they let Maurice go after the first 13 week cycle. Why that happened we do not know. Apparently it wasn't that he wasn't getting along with Duplaix or his choice (per his social media posts). I'd assume they simply had a different direction in mind for Ted and didn't feel like Maurice could pull it off.

BTG: First-ever role recast!
Because they're three months ahead and know what's coming up for the character. I liked Maurice, but it's not a huge loss. I feel that at this point he's played Ted very sympathetic and they might've wanted more layers so that we could easier see Silkpress's point of view, so maybe he couldn't deliver. Or maybe he was unprepared/flubbed his lines when he came on set and that became an issue with holding up production. Again, Tamara said she had to send out an e-mail about "professionalism"...

BTG: First-ever role recast!
Yeah, I've said it before, but unless they manage to straighten out the Derek / Ashley / Andre storyline, it'd be just better to write Derek and Ashley off as riding into the sunset. No need for recasts. With the Duprées I feel like they sort of need to do recasts if someone is not working out. I'm not surprised to hear about a recast (most of us expected it to happen with the 13 week cycle), but surprising that it's Ted. Either Maurice couldn't handle the workload or he didn't fit what MVJ had planned - it wouldn't surprise me if Maurice just made Ted too likeable and he's meant to have been a real ass towards Silkpress Sheila to motivate her behavior.

Knots Landing
Sounds like they just wanted to force people over to D+ or to buy it, but I guess both Knots and Falcon Crest must be performing moderately well on Prime if they put it back on.

Yes, I was pretty shocked when they mentioned that they'd hired a professional interior decorator to do it lol. I guess as other people have mentioned it's somewhat meant to mirror Dani's style in some ways, but it's by far the worst set so to explain it by Hayley doing it herself would've been good.

"Pornographic art pieces" - I admittingly haven't seen any of her "art pieces" and have no desire to do so, but let me press x for doubt 🫠

To be fair, they have no other option as they have nothing in development. It's cheap and they can try retooling it, but it's obvious they're not happy with its performance. I said it in another thread that I don't think it's General Hospital's performance (which at least has the backend of streaming) they're worried for at the moment - it's GMA3's which rely entirely on its linear performance.
