  1. I agree - I don't think "cousins" have quite the same sting to it... plus Eva and Kat would have no reason to go at each other if Ted isn't her father. Also, I'm not sure how you can't call this anything else but a hit, especially since it did exactly what it meant to do. It increased the time slot viewing significantly, won the time slot and increased the flow of CBS Daytime in general as both Y&R and B&B seems to have benefited from it. It also did amazing in the demographic they targeted it for - African-American women. It's hard not to spin this as a huge success. But of course it's week one and daytime soaps are a marathon, not a sprint etc etc.
  2. Next week will feature Derek's best acting yet!
  3. I wonder if Cady was one of those things they re-filmed tbh - Pamela seems better matched to Nicole, while Vanessa's messiness seems a better match for Dani.
  4. Could also be a precaution to see if the recast works out? Though I feel like they're wrapping Ron's stories at this point. I think his contract ran out rather than was fired, so he'd know he'd be winding down at this point I'm guessing and perhaps some inputs from those taking over to ease the transition.
  5. I'm definitively interested to hear more about seasons 5-7! But hopefully they'll bring back Chip, Chuck and other people from in front and behind the screens if they get that far. I find it interesting - the show was very messy at the time with backstage issues.
  6. I mean, he did make everyone else look better by default. Still not as good as Charity Rahmer, though.
  7. Maybe it's just me, but I sort of enjoy Savannah. I wouldn't mind her being a recurring confidante to Joy or something. Also, it feels like they're winding all Ron's storylines down. I assume they must've been setting up for the writer switch at this point?
  8. It's not all glowing reviews for Beyond the Gates! (From TVLines comment field)
  9. Even so, shows like The Talk have a small window of people wanting to watch it even when they do spark conversations. I'd assume there's at least some people who'll end up watching the library that Beyond the Gates is quickly building. There's a reason why Netflix has started investing in movies / shows that can be played as background material (something that soaps have always been built to do so that the hausfraus could do their chores while keeping up).
  10. TBF, isn't the point that Martin is trying to be "respectable" by trying to be as heteronormative as possible? I mean, they're what? Early 30s and they already have two children that they've raised for a few years now? He's also made Smitty give up his career, same thing as we're seeing with Haley and Bill right now. We'll see how much they're willing to adress this, but this is clearly not how the average hot gay couple would live at their age.
  11. I've said time and time again that The Talk doing horribly on streaming played a big part in why Beyond the Gates got ordered.
  12. A bit more ratings tidbits from Variety: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/beyond-the-gates-ratings-premiere-week-cbs-1236156508/ - 2.28m viewers with cross-platform viewing included; a bit over 2 million on average on CBS alone; 272k on streaming. 5.2m watched at least a few minutes. - 55% of the audience was AA compared to B&B's 30%, Y&R's 29% and GH's 22%. - Up 78% compared to The Talk in total audience, demographics up by 56%.
  13. Yup. Both Ron and Jamey has issues with their taste levels and the fact that they're on the team gives them - for better or worse - room to pitch stories and get promoted. Add that they seemingly bring out each others worst instincts as DAYS went further off the rails once Jamey joined. I'm glad they're both off DAYS but really, everyone needs to keep them away from suggesting storylines. Just shut and lock the door if they try.
  14. Don't forget that he was the one behind SaRenée. Both he and Ron seems to appreciate the lowest 80s style camp.
  15. Well, they're not doing the "duuurrrr Aluthin" stare as competently as Derek does!
  16. I mean, I've been rewatching Melrose Place , so brohugs, awkward ear touching and Andrew Shue's bad acting is all nostalgic to me right now. ngl
  17. Totally normal for scripts from a FIRED writer to air into 2026!
  18. Beyond happy. I want to say I knew it, but I had hoped that BTG would help streamline CBS's daytime schedule better and hopefully, we'll eventually get to know its streaming numbers.
  19. He reminds me of if Andrew Shue would be acting today. So I guess he's Andrew Shue on Temu or something. His dead eyed stares into NOTHING is inspiring. Duurrrr Alithun...
  20. I hate to admit it, Derek - or "Durrr Alithun" (if you've watched Melrose Place, this is a reference for you) - is growing on me. What a meathead.
  21. They seemed to imply last week that Martin doesn't know he killed someone.
