ARTICLE: ‘Beyond the Gates’ Splashes In Debut, ‘The Young and the Restless’ & ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Hit Season Highs Among Key Demos
Even so, shows like The Talk have a small window of people wanting to watch it even when they do spark conversations. I'd assume there's at least some people who'll end up watching the library that Beyond the Gates is quickly building. There's a reason why Netflix has started investing in movies / shows that can be played as background material (something that soaps have always been built to do so that the hausfraus could do their chores while keeping up).

TBF, isn't the point that Martin is trying to be "respectable" by trying to be as heteronormative as possible? I mean, they're what? Early 30s and they already have two children that they've raised for a few years now? He's also made Smitty give up his career, same thing as we're seeing with Haley and Bill right now. We'll see how much they're willing to adress this, but this is clearly not how the average hot gay couple would live at their age.

I've said time and time again that The Talk doing horribly on streaming played a big part in why Beyond the Gates got ordered.

Yup. Both Ron and Jamey has issues with their taste levels and the fact that they're on the team gives them - for better or worse - room to pitch stories and get promoted. Add that they seemingly bring out each others worst instincts as DAYS went further off the rails once Jamey joined. I'm glad they're both off DAYS but really, everyone needs to keep them away from suggesting storylines. Just shut and lock the door if they try.

Beyond happy. I want to say I knew it, but I had hoped that BTG would help streamline CBS's daytime schedule better and hopefully, we'll eventually get to know its streaming numbers.

I audably gasped when I saw that living room! Just yikes: Maybe we're supposed to read it as Bill being a complete pushover and completely leaves any decorating up to his current beau? I hope / think that there might be more to Pamela than just being Dani's best friend. I think she briefly mentioned being a writer? Maybe her husband can be filthy rich and eventually become nemesis to the Duprees for whatever reason once Silkpress Sheila is done with her revenge.

Pretty much. I think a lot of the other weaker actors have some leeway since they can always write less for them or try to adjust the writing a bit - even Ashley's lughead boyfriend only really needs to reach "Soap Opera Meathead" type of acting to be okay until he has to actually cry or something (and hopefully they'll just off him before it comes to that). Martin is a pretty unforgiving role to put in the hands of an inexperienced actor unfortunately. Still, give him 13 weeks and see where we're at after that. It's at least not Charity Rahmer levels yet. On a related note, maybe it's knowing that they had some production issues with lightning, but that looked so much better on Monday's episode. I agree with those that are saying that Colby Muhammad is a find - not that I necessarily want them to expand on her role too much at this point but she's delightful. I'd wouldn't mind for her and Vanessa to function as recap characters (not to each other, obviously) at this point before they let them off into their own storylines.
