Thanks Carl for TGL radio summary- a treasure. Came across this book - never knew this existed.

Pheobe Dorin as she appeared as Penny. Physically it was a good recast and the writers at the time seemed smart in not giving Penny a big storyline,rather letting viewers get used to her in the role. For whatever reason,she was dropped and Penny never returned as a main character. Do any viewers from that time (Saynotoursoap,Danfling etc) wish to comment on Penny as played by Ms Dorin?

Paulette Breen was the first Claudette Montgomery,daughter of Margo Flax Martin. Did she have much of a story in her time on the show?

The first Dr Laura Spencer as she appeared on the show played by Floy Dean. When Bill Bell took over, Floy was replaced by Susan Flannery

I remember that Hickland was pretty green on Texas but the show had awful writing in the early days. It didn't help that her character Courtney was supposed to be a surgeon (she looked more like a young nurse) and was involved with Lee Patterson's character,who was old enough to be her father.

Interesting...Would Scott Stevenson have been auditioning for Frank Ryan? He kept plugging away and 5 years later scored a contract role on Texas as Clipper Curtis, but that character was dropped within the first year.

I guess in those days,viewers had no idea what was going on behind the scenes.Maybe Penny's departure was played down,and viewers would assume she was just taking a short break as had happened before.

Rosemary Prinz appeared as Penny for the last time on June 14th 1968 (apart from guest spots in the 80's)

If MEK lost a few pounds and ditched the floppy hair (maybe a little dye job) he would look a lot younger.I doubt very much that VI is sporting his natural hair color.

Regis Philbin guest starred when Luke Dancy re-opened The Medicine Man restaurant.

Tony Randall guest starred on Thurs Nov 12th 1982 as part of the anti smoking storyline . Steve Aldrich was the smoker in question.

Racimo was on in 66 The Pollocks also wrote for The Brighter Day and Love of Life. They were lured over to GH from The Doctors but could not replicate their success.
