  4. Stephen Schetzer on SSH (he played Julie's brother Steve in 78/79 'I always enjoyed working with her. She's a very strong personality and and I think she follows her instincts and forms instant likes and dislikes', he says candidly. 'If it's a dislike she forms or has of you, she won't play a game to try and make you think otherwise. And she liked me right from the start, I think. She's very professional - and I can say that for the whole cast. Mmmm - I think he's trying to say Susie could be a total beyotch to someone she decided she didn't like...
  5. Philece Sampler tested for Kathy Summers on GH but nabbed Renee on Days in the meantime.

  8. Re John Wesley Shipp Prior to GL he had 'walk on' parts on All My Children and one Life to Live.
  9. Re Viginia Dwyer Her Joyce Jordan character of Crystal had the surname Shields
  10. Louise Shaffer (her first soap role) as Martha Logan (on the right) and Mary Bracken Phillips as Jeanette Sloane. Looks like these characters were fashion designers? Stephen Joyce, Joe Daly and Nell Bassett in an unknown role (possibly secretary?)
  11. Re Hidden Faces A mystery has arisen regarding some actresses and their roles. An NBC press release photo lists Mary Bracken Phillips playing Jeanette Sloan, a role attributed to Betsy Durkin, However in a bio for a play she was appearing around that time, Phillips lists her HF roles as Kelly Simmons, a role attributed to Charlotte Glenn. The NBC photo does look like Phillips but could be Durkin also. So I am confused...
  12. re Charles 'Flohe'Grant Before EON he had u/5 roles on All My Children and Guiding Light.
  13. Glad to be able through these pics to be able to give more of a sense of how the show was presented. Conard Fowkes and Tony LoBianco With Gretchen Walther

  20. Terry Lester from a SOD interview in 1981 'I'd like to give some credit to John Conboy. When I came on the show last year they introduced Jack with a whole new storyline and when things didn't work out so well, the writers didn't know what to do with me.So I didn't work for two months. But John kept me on the show and during the writers strike my character began falling into place. Thanks to John Conboy I'm still on the air'. I guess Terry only had contact with Conboy and heard things filtered through him, because surely Bill Bell was making the decisions about who we saw on air. Wonder who wrote the show during that strike?
  21. Julie without Doug was a crummy idea to begin with. At least she should have returned with David (maybe slightly de- aged) with Scotty off at boarding school rather than SORASING another generation. That would have left Scott to return in the later part of the 90's when Julie was more believable as a grandmother. The disrespect shown to the Hortons is a crying shame. Once Mac Carey passed, it was obvious that Frances would one day go also and Doug and Julie should have been elevated to the patriach/martriach roles.
  22. I would say that the show did plan to bring on Spencer (why else would Julie mention him?) but there was a change of heart (or writers)
  23. Re Secret Storm Add Einar Perry Scott - Danny Greer (juvenile delinquent) Scott also played Alan Sterling on Love of Life. These roles were in the 50's so maybe he was briefly the first Alan?
