  1. Melania is too unintelligent to have ever plotted an out with a decent payday. At this point he could leave her penniless in a divorce if he wanted to because Barron is an adult and she can't leverage him anymore.
  2. It has since changed it's name, but there is a white supremacist group that once used the name Vanguard America. Just putting that out there for thought.
  3. Interesting indeed. Seems something of a pattern.
  4. Please let's not entertain these ugly, bitchy Youtube Black men who hate Black women at every turn. That commentary has no relevance to the discussion of the show.
  5. It's a great sign that CBS is heavily promoting even on a specialty channel because it means they are actually invested. They are searching for viewers inclined to tune in and most likely previous soap viewers.
  6. Pretty much everything that immediately replaced canceled soaps has been canceled itself.
  7. As far as openings go I expect this to have something like B&B does with a full title sequence at least once a week and a shorter title card sequence for the rest of the days. There were clearly portions of an opening credit sequence in the promo.
  8. That promo was good. Beyond The Gates is going to be fantastic.
  9. I don't necessarily believe other networks would put on another soap, but if BTG really lands well it could trigger interest. Reclaiming time from affiliates to get ad revenue is probably something networks would like to do of they could.
  10. Most likely she did that herself. No police report and the writing was clearly her own. I think she actually might be actually have some mental health problems. Marjorie is crazy but in an intentional, extremist way but Mace seems to be spiraling.
  11. At this point Nancy Mace is basically a soap opera psycho https://newrepublic.com/post/189258/nancy-mace-attack-transgender-activist-truth She lied and said an advocate for transgender people attacked her, but all he did is shake her hand. At this point she's probably going to throw herself down the stairs next and blame a Democrat (like Annie did to Reva on Guiding Light).
  12. There is room for balance there. Anita might be matriarchal with some and not so much with others. Reading the character descriptions of the daughters it seems like there might be room for her to play favorites and clash with one of them. It might be reading too much into but Nicole was the furthest away from Anita and was holding Vernon's arm whereas Dani was in between them but slightly turned toward Anita.
  13. That is what I thought too. These days the old school matriarch is too stale and antiquated.
  14. It would have been surprising if Morgan had not been at least asked. I imagine there is a chance she is asked to do a guest stint sometime in the future. Would be interesting to see her play a Helena Cassadine/Vivian Alamain/James Stenbeck type that randomly pops up to stir the pot.
  15. Imdb can be edited by anyone and while there may be an approval process it is not foolproof and wrong information does make it onto the site.
  16. I'm so tired of hearing about the right-wing noise machine and at this point they can go straight to hell. You have decades of soaps that have been nearly all White with a few Black characters who gained supporting status, but where generally used as the best friend to the White leads. It's not even about having a Black soap opera, but a soap opera where Black actors can have a chance to do what their White counterparts do.
  17. Right. There isn't a lot of work to go around in daytime so of course some unpopular names were going to make the staff but they won't take over. MVJ being there to oversee to first shoot makes it guiding her vision and the NAACP will make sure she keeps that control. The fact that Beyond The Gates is Black-written is even more important than the cast being majority Black. There is a lot invested here.
  18. Some people are putting MVJ in the back of the bus when it comes to her vision and have this show end before it even starts. There are quite a few people who need to check their biases because this negativity is ridiculous.
  19. Seems possible. A half sibling in a main family is a common go to for tension on soaps.
  20. Hopefully there are well crafted endings for the episodes before preemptions. That would build suspense to keep viewers on the edge of their seat and ready to tune back in. With a preemption barely a month into the debut I think it's smart to get early viewers locked in and invested.
  21. When the last soaps debuted I wasn't allowed to watch them and wasn't really interested so this will be new for me as well. To be there at day one for any show is special, but with a soap that airs daily feels next level.
  22. Like Anne Sward on ATWT playing mother to actors who were only 5-8 years younger than her. Looking at those old clips and hearing Scott Bryce and Ellen Dolan calling her "Mama" just was a hard sell.
  23. It is a soap opera after all so the actor's age don't always necessary matchup with what reality might suggest for the type of character they are playing. I think it's far less stark than some of the casting that used to have actors playing parenting to actors who were as little as a year younger to them.
  24. It just became acceptable in the past decade for Black writers to create anything other than comedy. Pathetic is a strong word but it is reflective of the structure of every industry that has the unwritten that Black people need to do twice or triple the work to see success. Then again Michele Val Jean is getting a chance most soap writers never get so she really is reaping the rewards of her hard work.
