Steffy better not let Li out of her sight for the next week if Luna "dies."

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Random 1990 thoughts (up to September): -Felicia seems like a do-over of the failed Kristin character, and goes over many of the same story beats (joining FC, fighting with Stephanie & Margo), and it works much better. If you look up Dion, she's the queen of 1 (contract) and done across many shows. -Hilarious that Kristin didn't bother to say goodbye to Felicia or Thorne when she left. BYE! -The Jake storyline is OK, though it does make Margo look pretty bad. She wasn't the least bit curious what her brother was up to in the 10 years since he ran away at 14? It's not like she was ever shown to care about her parents any point on the show before. The misuse of Koslow continues to be a problem, but at least this is better than her 88-89 stories. -Macy quickly went from one of my favorites to FF material the minute she started singing with Thorne. -Caroline's death was well done but it's pretty jarring that Bill doesn't seem to morn at all for his daughter. A week or so afterwards he's feuding with Sally or chatting with Margo about other stuff. Speaking of, Margo wasn't invited to her farewell party? -Taylor replacing Caroline as the virtuous heroine is not subtle at all, from taking her spot in the credits to Ridge macking on her right way after his wife's death. The tradition of all doctors being interchangeable gets its start here, as in a matter of weeks she's an oncologist, then Storm books a GP appointment with her, and most clunky of all Felicia just dips in to her office to talk about Jake not getting down with her. -On the Logan front, the new Storm is awful. The original had a wholesome quality that was a good contrast to the slick Forrester/Spencer men. This one is a typical yuppie that they aged 10 years for some reason. The phasing out of Donna is sad, but the actress keeps delivering on the scraps they give her. She is written like the sad-sack Katie at this point. -The biggie - Brooke & Eric hooking up, is not as strongly written as I hoped it would be. Obviously, the Brooke & Stephanie confrontations are great. But the problem is that it's the only interpersonal conflict that rings true. The Logan sisters seem to think its great - I guess to be charitable maybe they think it'll keep their parents together? I get Thorne not being thrilled, but his sudden trashing of Brooke as a gold digger seems way out of character. A weird choice too that Ridge doesn't seem to care at all.

Will is not as attractive as RJ but is ..... a more believable romantic lead.

BTG: Encore Discussion Thread
It gets "more smoke" because its the first new soap in over 25 years being discussed on a board populated soap opera super fans. The show hasn't even been on this month and its July thread has more posts than the others' save for GH. Obviously, people have new opinions to express about a new show, versus crafting their 60th post about how much they're irked by Ameilia Heinle, Brad Bell, or any other number of SON Jerry Gerich's. The other shows aren't being shown grace if they have less posts but a greater percentage of them are negative.

Come on now, even Tucker Carlson couldn't state that B&B is given more grace than BTG on this board with a straight face.

Both Bell soaps are moving in this market. Y&R is moving a half hour later to make way for an expanded noon newscast. https://www.tvpassport.com/tv-listings/stations/cbs-wtsp-tampa-bay-fl/2549/2025-07-07 https://www.tvpassport.com/tv-listings/stations/cbs-wtsp-tampa-bay-fl/2549/2025-06-30

Granted, it was a weakness of the P&G shows too in that demo that helped, but it was competitive below the big 5 (YR/Days/ABC non-PC) from mid 2003- mid 2005.

Thanks for the explanation. You're right, it was press releases I read from the show, touting ratings gains in December & early February - nothing after. It does air at 3 on a bunch of CBS stations, including some O&Os. As most affiliates air talk shows at 3, I wonder if CBS is hearing complaints about the lead-in to that slot. Passions grew its ratings towards its 18 month mark and 2ish years later was beating or tied with the non-Y&R CBS shows in W18-49 regularly. That said, BTG started relatively way stronger in the demos than all 5 of those shows.

Interesting. Could the total viewer concerns be related to The Drew Barrymore Show's ratings? The show (owned by CBS) airs after BTG in many markets. I Googled its ratings and a bunch of articles touting its numbers popped up for this season, but they were all dated prior to BTG's debut. Even though The Talk had lower numbers, it was obviously a more compatible lead-in. FWIW, that show is in repeats next week too.

Wow, they're doing a whole week of repeats? Its return ratings is a catch-22 for fans of the show. If they're back to its average, CBS has the green light to do this on the regular. I guess the ideal situation for BTG's fans would be bad ratings the week back, then back to normal the following week.

An RJ mention? In this economy? It's been a while since they paired a Forrester with one of Ridge's offspring. I hope it remains that way, and if they do recast he's not the latest 3rd wheel to Eleckra & Will.

Availability early when Brad took over as HW could be a big factor to why he prefers Brooke. Tylo's two 5 month departures both came at bad times for the show. In '94 she left right before the summer of OJ pre-emptions. In '96 she left again in a period when AMC started bleeding viewers, but DAYS ended up being the main beneficiary.
- DAYS: Actor returning? (6/17 update: NOT RETURNING!)

I'm guessing that Fridays are relatively stronger for daytime in the 2020's because it's the most common work from home day.

Food for thought: maybe limiting episodes to 10 helps the streaming numbers. It sounds counter-intuitive but hear me out. Pre-streaming viewers were trained to dip out and dip back in (or watch less often) when the show bored them. For younger viewers who discover on soap on streaming, it may not be intuitive to skip ahead when a period of the show doesn't interest them. So if they stop watching a show with a heavy catalogue for a few weeks or months, they'll be "stuck" in the period that caused them to stop watching when they resume, get frustrated, and possibly be gone for good. With only 10 episodes available, they may give the show another chance, enjoy the newer storylines, and resume watching regularly.

Bill convinced the Governor to pardon Luna. Steffy was too busy badmouthing Hope & Brooke for most of the Spring to concern herself with such trivial matters.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
I haven't seen Melchior in the role, but it would be astounding if she's worse than Linn. Her rivalry with Stephanie was sidelined IMO because Linn was one of the few actors who didn't have chemistry with, nor raise her game, when paired with Susan Flannery. To be fair, she did show some signs of life in scenes opposite Darlene Connelly, but way too little too late. It feels like Bell finally woke up after the Thorne switchover and sidelined the Kristin character with Mick to 1 or 2 appearances a week. As a result, the show improved by leaps and bounds after she was inexplicably at the center of the show for most of 1989. Margo is so much more enjoyable when not tied to that albatross. Even Clarke is watchable with less Kristin interaction. She can't exit stage left soon enough. As for the new Thorne, I agree that Norcross feels like a Forrester a lot more than Thrachta, even if the latter is a better actor.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Finally got to the Thorne switchover in 1989. OG Thorne's drunk acting in his last episode was pretty awful. For a second I wondered if the performance was so bad Bill Bell felt he had no choice but to recast ASAP....until I remembered he was fine with letting Terri Ann Lynn vacantly shriek her lines for 2 1/2 years with no problem. Crazy that if SON was around in 1989 there might be a debate if Ron Moss was the 2nd best Forrester actor, rather than being the worst actor in daytime. Lauren Koslow finally had some decent material in August/September. Seeing Margo briefly interact with Stephanie & Caroline made the actress come alive. It seemed when the show started, she was there to mix it up with the power players, instead of being stuck on the B team with Kristin, Clarke & Mick (was the casting notice for this part a Kale Brown-type doing a Christopher Walken impression?). Anyway, the way Bill Bell wrote for her makes one appreciate James E. Reilly. Bobbie Eakes was a very pleasant surprise. I haven't had too much exposure to the character before. She was confident and watchable from day 1. I guess Rocco and Nick fell in love and left LA together offscreen.

Respectfully, no. They aren't trying to distract from anything, the losses were cut by a third and the app is experiencing growth. NBCU isn't seen as a risky investment by media buyers.

ARTICLE: ‘Days Of Our Lives’: A Peacock Success Story
I haven't seen it yet, but Day of the Jackal is the ONLY scripted Peacock show I've heard people talk about in real life. Anecdotal, but from a boomer relative, millennial friend & gen z co-worker. There's value there in being the first big buzz show to draw people to the platform. Bel Air is the only other show I noticed that got some organic buzz (from non-tv critics) online a few years ago.

Seems right to me. It's about retaining the signups from when the show migrated to Peacock. After 3 years, paid promotion seems like waste of money at this point.
