  1. My oh my. Katherine was such a vicious old crone.
  2. Lol at the blatant theft by the makers of Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere of the opening from The Good Fight:

  7. I agree. I feel like the show really lost its way (in relative terms) in the mid-‘90s. The decline started IMO in ‘94 (a bit of an echo from the other CBS soaps, who also started freefalling creatively around that time). Speaking of which, I wonder if it’ll be addressed in Melody’s memoir. Just saw the release was pushed to August. Edit: saw @Paul Raven asked the same question.
  8. From last week: the epic Babyface/Teddy Riley IG Live battle that, on its first attempt, ended in embarrassing technical difficulties on Teddy Riley’s end. (Toni Braxton, being Team Babyface, was DRAGGING Teddy in real time on Twitter, and her tweets are hilarious.) They finally managed to pull it off two days, and it was a lot of fun to watch live in the company of seemingly every black celebrity (in the comments - I think even Michelle Obama showed up). Just a great walk down memory lane for anyone who grew up during that amazing time of black excellence in R&B in the 1980s and ‘90s. These two masters, along with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, defined a whole era of music.

  11. As much as I snarked on the Celeb Drag Race, I’m quite enjoying this. When Jermaine Fowler first saw himself in drag and recognized his uncanny resemblance to his mother who had recently passed away, it was really moving. And his “Kevina” Hart in Snatch Game was classic. Clever to play a female drag version of a male celebrity.
  12. This made me laugh oddly.
  13. I sometimes agree even though I genuinely like her, but, even though the story sucked, I oddly thought she did the acting of her career when she discovered Scott was cheating on her with Abby a couple years ago. She felt looser than normal, and I bought her rage more than I did when Sharon discovered Nick was cheating with Phyllis. Man, she was beautiful in the ‘90s episode, though. Scott Reeves was gorgeous in the ‘90s too, but I thought he looked a bit gaunt on GH. Not surprised to learn he was dealing with health issues.
  14. Jeff Goldblum is simultaneously getting lusted over and roasted on Twitter. His question to Jackie Cox about Islam’s perceived homophobia and misogyny isn’t going over well. Glad to see self-pitying Widow gone. She wasn’t going to get any better. Glad to see Jaida rack up another win. LOL at this show’s definition of “celebrity.”
  15. Totally. And you could see the kind of character that could have been. Powerful yet not sacrificing the vulnerability (edit: this scene at the end where she’s silently examining and intimidating Sharon is a great example) instead of this cowed and uncertain creature Amelia Heinle is playing. But then you realize how difficult this would have been for a new writer to handle, especially with the pressure to make her into a watered-down ABC heroine in the 2000s.
  16. Again, I would be embarrassed to put on the modern-day show after these. And this isn’t even that remarkable for an older episode.
  17. Heather Tom was such a gifted and open young actress. You can just see so many emotions passing over her in one little scene. Katie gives her nothing to work with, and she’s hardened into a lot of bad patterns.
  18. I missed this...
  19. Sorry for the Sam Smith...
  20. I love NYC, but Tinsley and Leah feel so inorganic in this group. The demographic divide is stark.

  22. That’s the thing. At some reunions, you can hear them lowering the sound on certain women (like the argument between Marlo and Kandi a few seasons back - you could hear Kandi still yelling in the background while Nene was trying to speak). You also have those interesting asides between the women we’ll miss (like Phaedra’s “Fix it, Jesus” or Nene’s crude comment to Tanya about “sticking that peach up your p*ssy”). Hopefully they’ll have time to clean up the audio.
