For a second there, in that last photo, I thought Tripp had grown a weird mullet. Then I realized it was just the decorations behind his head looking like hair. (I’m viewing via a tiny iPhone screen.)

Also a big fan of Simon’s sparring partner, played by Martins Imhangbe: I find it hilarious reading reviews seeking deeper explanations for the show’s anachronistic diversity—when all these costume dramas are highly fantastical.

Also, it’s cool to see Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury) in a role she can sink her teeth into. She was so wasted as Martha’s mother on Doctor Who. She hasn’t aged a day since then. Getting strong Eli Pope vibes from Simon’s father in those flashbacks.

Just started. Admittedly it’s a lot of fun, and Regé-Jean Page and Jonathan Bailey (what a backside!) are Grade-A eye candy.

They need to stop making black folks sing at the holidays lol. They did it with the Avants in previous years, even after they stopped featuring them in stories. (Although after hearing John McCook’s singing voice, I see why they used Paris.) I keep remembering Timothy D. Stickney’s anecdote in the OLTL oral history. Even though he’s a skilled vocalist, he pretended to be tone-deaf so that producers wouldn’t trot R.J. out as the black man who sings at town events.

Jason Thompson’s quarantine body is decent. That’s all I got.

Hmmm, they quote KC’s interview where she suggests having a POC actress play Samantha. I see why they’d avoid that, even though I imagine they feel some pressure to redress SATC’s diversity issues. Having an Asian-, Latin-, and African-American actress play “hypersexualized” in a group of white women would simply be a minefield. Still I get why they’d do this. HBO Max is having problems getting signups.
