I agree, and I think he’s fantastic. Very few actors play emotion as well as well as he does. In a perfect world, the Carvers would be a major family in Salem, and Abe would be mediating sibling rivalries and turf wars. But he’s marginalized, and when they tease him with someone like Kate, a vibrant and connected character, it doesn’t excite people because there’s nowhere to go with that pairing. He’s a story dead end. And that’s a writing problem, not a JR problem.

The Eli/Lani/Abe/Julie scene with the newborn twins is sweet. I know a lot of people find James Reynolds boring, but he does have the warmth and gravitas of a great older soap patriarch.

I realize someone cheating on a partner over a misunderstanding (or a manipulation, in this case) is a soap story as old as the genre, but I’ve rarely felt more irritated by it than I do now.

Abby’s hair today, yikes. Serving old school Ke$ha realness, I see. Taking styling tips from her onscreen older sister? Donny Boaz is undeniably fit, but man, what a downgrade from Justin Gaston.

Billy Flynn is really going for it with the drunk acting. We’re even getting some Halle Berry/Monster’s Ball “Make me feel good” sh!t.
