Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Agreed as well. Those 4 plus Camille, and someone new. We need a shakeup, NYC style when they axed Jill/Alex/Kelly/Cindy. These 5 can carry the torch into the second decade (yikes!) of RHOBH. Kyle uttering those words that Brandi never lies was such a joke. I sure wish they had flashed back to all the times Kyle said otherwise, but y'know... producer privilege...

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Agreed, and I actually wanted to clarify lol.... the current cast isn't that unlikable (except Kelly Dodd who I can't stand), but there's no star power here. Shannon and Kelly are the biggest draws?? Otherwise you have blah Emily, blah Gina, blah Braunwyn. Ho-hum..... However, in the days of Alexis, Gretchen... oy, those were toxic years IMO.

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
That whole time from 2002-2003 was such a weird era. It's almost like Dena Higley was brought on to purposely sabotage the show so they'd have reason for Reilly to come back and "save" it. Of course, that's not what actually happened, but it was a bogus move to ax Brash and Cwikly. Another "interim" headwriter that was better than what came before or after her was Beth Milstein in mid-2006 after Reilly 2.0 left but before Hogan Sheffer joined.

IMO, RHOC and RHONJ always suffered from generally unlikable people. I don't know if it's a Republican thing or what, and New Jersey has finally rebounded with a solid cast after struggling for years, but I think this is going to be a tough year for OC, COVID or no COVID.

@Cat You bring up an idea that we've tossed around here before... a Super Housewives Show. And in all honesty, I could see this happening eventually, as these shows have become so scripted and planned, with castmembers scheming and bringing in their own agendas. I could see them doing a "reboot" or multi-week special with original cast-mates, or a blend of cast members from various Housewives show that come together for one gigantic vacation special. Agreed on 12 episodes for this season's OC being a wise move. Seeing that cast lineup [I'm unimpressed, to say the least] I imagine it would be painful to watch them squeeze out nearly two dozen episodes. POTOMAC: I don't try to keep up with the social media shenanigans of the Housewives (that's a rabbit hole that'll end up taking way too much time), but I saw Gizelle came back up from the rock she was hiding under, making some generic remark about the audio of Monique on Sunday's show somehow "proving" something. Okay Giz...

I have yet to watch last night's show, but this had me LOLing! NYC Re: Ramona & Dorinda on shaky ground... I know Ramona got called out for bringing up Leah's medical condition (bipolar), but what other negative feedback is Ramona receiving these days? I mean, yeah, I know she's a snooty 1% Trumper, but anything specific?

Why do you watch soaps, and has the reason changed?
Pretty sure I realized I was gay thanks to Austin Peck and Peter Reckell 😄😂😂

Why do you watch soaps, and has the reason changed?
I got hooked on DAYS exactly 25 years ago, seeing a commercial for a possessed Marlena, "dead" in the morgue, holding John by his throat. And the commercial later insinuated she would barge into a church full of people (it was actually John carrying Marlena's lifeless body up to the altar). From that intrigue in wanting to know what the hell that was all about, I started watching and got hooked on Bo/Hope/Billie, Carrie/Austin/Sami, etc. In all honesty, I started watching B&B second, the following Spring, because I saw in the pages of Soap Opera Digest (thanks for buying them for me, mom!) that Lark Voorhies of Saved by the Bell fame was on it. So I checked it out. It was months before I finally saw her onscreen (cuz, you know, she's black... and it's B&B), but became interested in Sheila poisoning Stephanie, Brooke's brief insanity of hiding out in a hut in Barbados clutching onto 2 dolls she called Rick and Bridget. By summer of '96, I checked out all the other soaps and the one that stood out to me the most was Guiding Light. I loved the divas, namely Reva, along with Dinah (Wendy Moniz) and Annie (Cynthia Watros). So by the time I was 14 years old, I was watching 3 soaps on a regular basis. Nowadays, I watch out of loyalty to the shows, cast, particular characters, and for snippets of goodness in otherwise lifeless shows (DAYS, Y&R, B&B). I watch all of DAYS (I FF through the monotonous, repetitive stuff), and sample Y&R and B&B. Honestly, I preferred the classic episodes. CBS could air reruns in place of The Talk or LMAD and I'd be more interested in recording those instead.

Same, and was about to post the same idea. Can't believe I'm rooting for Dorit, but hey, maybe we'll get to see her come home to an eviction notice one day! In addition to being neutral for the most part, calling out Alicia Sanderson Edwards (that was Kyle on Little House... admittedly, I had to google that sh.t) multiple times has improved my opinion of her.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Agreed. First, they gangbang (©VickiGulvanson) on Denise for the children-hearing-about-threesomes debacle, and now this. This brood of witches love to attack, attack, attack relentlessly on one single person. @Taoboi Excellent write-up as always. 😂 I love that we saw Garcelle talk about Taylor McBride's online Instagram dancing, debunking Billie Reed's claims lickity-split. And I loved that Garcelle checked Kyle. Ugh, the rightfully given "Mean Girl" label and turning it into an attack on them. They sure know how to deflect. They know the game and it's obnoxious as fukk. Pretty Old Mess acting all offended for being called cold again. Whatever. Ugh. Tammy. More fake exasperated shock faces from Kyle, Rinna and the gang next week as the talking blowup doll reveals more secrets, giving Charrisse a run for her money on desperate ex-housewives vying for their old spot back.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Maeve Kinkead about Wendy Moniz as Dinah: "Wendy was extraordinary in that role." And that's a big SUCK IT to all those rabid Mattessa fans from back in the day who insisted they knew Maeve's inner most feelings and believed Maeve hated Wendy because of the way Dinah resented her mother abandoning her. Sigh. 22 years later and that feels good. LOL

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I listened to the whole thing. WOW. Those are some lowdown dirty hags. Chris is PISSED. Such a powercouple. I hope Bravo does the right thing, which means they won't. Candiace and Gizelle need to get the ax. Robyn can hang out to dry because she'll be nothing without her leader, so she can die a slow death in season 6 (she'd probably get reduced to Friend Of half-way through filming, unless she and Juan finally got married). I'm glad to hear Ashley has Monique's back, but honestly, I am not surprised because I never thought she was a dirty person; she's just an excellent reality-TV pot stirrer. And of course, the fabulous Grande Dame supporting Monique every step of the way. "Pay them batches no mind," I'm sure she advised many times. Team Monique and Team Grande Dame for quite some time now, and I'm glad their bond is genuine.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Wow, that is just ugly and nasty. I may be wrong for giving Lisa Rinna too much credit, but I don't think even she would go this low... Charrisse has always been a low-class ugly hater who's too jealous to support other women, but this takes it to a whole new level. Ditto Gizelle. Agreed 100% on Monique and Chris. They are the real deal. They don't need the coins.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Lovely indeed lol. I think my favorite is Camille dismissing her, but looking back, I loved Erika scared the hell outta her. NYC: Even though it's technically unfair, I get why Ramona is holding Leah to a different standard in terms of not talking about vaginas and body parts and sex acts. Going back to the old "pecking order" Sonja mentioned in season 4, Leah's the young newbie of the show and in Ramona's eyes, she has to ease her way into being down in the thick of things with the rest of the cast. Or perhaps it's a motherly thing because the other 4 are so much damn older (and have been through so much more) than her. Either way, it's not fair but for some reason I get it. Sonja's water pills being the cause of her messiness... lol... well at least we have an answer. She looked so genuinely overjoyed at their small but festive birthday dinner for her. That's the kind of party I'd prefer as well. LuAnn continues to defy age and get hotter and hotter. I'm ready for Dorinda to have an intervention.

Thanks! I'll look into that. I'm also going to check into some of the limited series that are up for Emmys this year... So many to choose from!

What Are You Watching/Binging/Streaming Now?
Jumping into this thread randomly and YES, I agree with this 100% Looking back, Revenge would've been a perfect Netflix/Hulu limited series. The first season was awesome, and then it went to hell in a hand basket the second season. It had its moments in the 2nd and 3rd year, but once it was revealed Emily's father had been alive all along, Hubby & I were done with it. With so much to offer these days, I'm finally getting out of the soap opera wheel of monotony and enjoying a lot of series across multiple platforms. Ones I just recently watched: The Morning Show (loved it) Big Little Lies (loved it) Little Fires Everywhere (loved it - 3 Reese Witherspoon dramas in a row! lol) Defending Jacob (it was pretty good; stars Chris Evans) Mrs. America (just binged the whole thing this past Sunday - great fun) The Society (just finished last night... modern-day Lord of the Flies... very good and will likely have to wait over a year for the 2nd installment) What should I do next? I tend to gravitate towards female oriented domestic dramas.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I have not seen Episode 2 yet, but I loved see our Potomac ladies back!!! I have to say, I'm glad mommies Monique and Ashley have found a common bond with motherhood, or else Ashley would start to get islanded in her own story. Poor Ashley.... baby Dane looks JUST LIKE his daddy. The permanent scowl on his face is cute as an infant, but we know what he'll look like in adulthood... Robyn... girl... Juan will never put a ring on it. It would make sense to hear rumors he's got someone on the side given the situation, so I'm pleasantly surprised we hear nada. Unless I'm missing something? Gizelle's daughters calling out their own dad for being a phony. LOL But also kind of sad that he only feigns interest in them for their mother's sake, to score brownie points with her. Grande Dame & Ray.... hmm... I smell turmoil. But I love what she pointed out about marrying someone who's nearly 20 years older; everything is fine when you're 30-something and he's 50-something... but once you're 50-something and still interested in building a career and socializing, while he's 70-something and winding down, it creates a new dynamic and rift. Loved the La'Dame shout-outs at Candiace & Chris' party. If this were NYC and Karen was Bethenny, you know she would've been handing out scratch 'n sniff samples with her mug on it. 😂 Charriissee... y'all know I had to make a mention of this salty heifer... I did LOL at her stank face during Karen's speech, but otherwise she is such a hater. It's sad but not surprising that Charrisse and Monique had a falling out due to Charrisse bad-mouthing her (anyone know the tea there?). Also, it seemed when we first saw her on-camera, she was croutched in the corner, like she was waiting to latch onto a castmember to make her way into the party. Was she even invited? I don't think Bravo had her mic'ed up initially. Thanks! I'm so out of the loop with Nielsen numbers these days now that TVByTheNumbers is gone, but what's this about NYC tanking? And how's BH faring?

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Agreed. Season 7 was the perfect reset for the show (a perfect transition of cast members from the messy 5&6 seasons era as we moved on in season 8 and forward) and the Carole/Dorinda trip and bonding was poignant. Never thought eight cast members would work but it was perfection.

You spelled Turd wrong a couple times in your post, but I'll forgive ya 😂 Love that moment with Sutton (and Denise's reaction, basically saying "Thank you for being a voice of reason here!") Kyle and Terri DeMarco are the absolute worst and Kyle is guilty of doing exactly what she has accused LVP of doing so many times in the past... setting it up for a secret to be revealed to a specific small group, so that the other person in the room goes and spills all and Kyle can act all surprised and shocked they went there (See: Kyle's faux exasperated reaction in the car). Meanwhile, POTOMAC is coming! Can't wait to dish with y'all... NYC: Wow, their place in Cancun is GORGEOUS. I would just stay there the entire time during my trip. They have it all and are right on the beach, too. Jealous! Is this when we finally learn what is up with Sonja? I think she hinted a while back that we'll learn what's going on during a trip. She's got to be on some medication that is NOT to be taken with any alcohol whatsoever. Side Note: We're on page 2001 of this thread! Crazy fun here
