Kimberly Beck
@Soaplovers What do you mean by "a business that isn't too kind to working performers"? Does this concern typecasting? I've certainly heard about ageism in Hollywood.

Any Capitol Fans Here?
@vetsoapfan When do you think Capitol peaked quality-wise?
-
Any Capitol Fans Here?
@vetsoapfan Do you remember Kimberly Beck's teeth being at least a little bit "Ewoky" on Capitol? Ewoks are cute! 😜

Any Capitol Fans Here?
@vetsoapfan Do you think Capitol was painfully mediocre at times? How about during its first year and a half on the air?

Any Capitol Fans Here?
@vetsoapfan Did you particularly like anything about Capitol? How about the Trey and Sloane characters? Judging from what you said in this post, you did watch the soap regularly for at least a while. It's too bad that Kimberly Beck's stint as Julie Clegg didn't really work out for her in the end. She never had a long-term role on a TV series ever again. Beck did have a stint as Claire Prentice on Dynasty during the 1986-87 season, but it was only for four episodes.

Did "Rich Man, Poor Man" and "Rich Man, Poor Man Book II" qualify as soaps?
@DeeVee Imagine William Smith playing a Falconetti-like villain on the original Hawaii Five-O TV series before he began appearing regularly as Kimo on that show. @vetsoapfan I failed to mention that Susan Sullivan had a prominent role in the feature-length pilot for the Bill Bixby TV series The Incredible Hulk. Click here to watch some footage from that pilot.

Any Capitol Fans Here?
Speaking of James Lipton, did his stint as a writer on Capitol come back to haunt him in any episodes of Inside the Actors Studio?
-
Eight Is Enough
I find it curious that Dick Van Patten appeared in several episodes of The Love Boat but zero episodes of Fantasy Island. Why was that? Lynda Day George made guest appearances on both shows.

Any Capitol Fans Here?
Do you think the Jenny Diamond character that Catherine Hickland wound up playing on Capitol was much more interesting than the Julie Clegg character? Jenny Diamond was a villainess, was she not?

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Um, is The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills still relevant in this day and age? If it isn't, when did the show stop being relevant?

Any Capitol Fans Here?
@vetsoapfan Is it true that you thought Julie Clegg was essentially a boring character? You appeared to indicate that in this previous comment of yours.

Peyton Place
My dad has been a fan of the late Ryan O'Neal. Which Peyton Place episode featured Mr. O'Neal's best work on the soap?

Peyton Place
No offense, but was Kim Schuster really deaf? Peyton Place fans have to excuse me. I've come across conflicting information.

Kimberly Beck
@Soaplovers If I'm not mistaken, Kimberly Beck actually received top billing for Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. I can't say that superstardom followed, but too many celebrities who did become A-list stars ended up self-destructing. Pay attention to what Kenny Loggins says in this video. Also pay attention to what Eric Bischoff says in this other video.

@All My Shadows Um, is the Kim Schuster character on Peyton Place really deaf?

Kimberly Beck
@DRW50 Kimberly Beck did appear in a 1987 episode of L.A. Law, a TV series that, like NYPD Blue, was co-created by Steven Bochco. The final two seasons of L.A. Law had A Martinez as a regular cast member. Um, why didn't Kimberly appear in any episodes of A's former soap Santa Barbara? Was she offered any roles on SB? John Conboy, who had executive-produced Kimberly's former soap Capitol, had a stint as EP of Santa Barbara in the early '90s. (SB writer Patrick Mulcahey didn't get along with Mr. Conboy and jumped ship, but...)

@soapfan770 How well do you think Kimberly Beck fared as Trish Jarvis in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter? How well do you think Ms. Beck fared during her four-episode stint as Claire Prentice on Dynasty? It is very much worth noting that the Eight Is Enough pilot initially failed to sell. It eventually did sell, of course, but by that point, Kimberly had been granted a release from her Eight Is Enough contract so she could play Diane Porter on Rich Man, Poor Man Book II. Keep in mind that Kimberly had a pretty successful career as a child actress, playing a supposedly deaf girl named Kim Schuster on the primetime soap opera Peyton Place in the mid-1960s.

@Paul Raven Well, Paul, do you think "Let's Take a Walk" should have been a big hit in the U.S. back in the late '60s? Imagine if someone like Kylie Minogue were to record a cover of the song in this day and age. Imagine a contestant on America's Got Talent or American Idol covering the song. Oh, by the way, Kimberly Beck officially wrote the lyrics to "Let's Take a Walk." @vetsoapfan Click here to watch the intro to Westwind, a TV series that I previously brought up in this thread. Click here to watch footage from a certain episode of Westwind. Keep in mind that the series in question was aimed at youngsters.

Did "Rich Man, Poor Man" and "Rich Man, Poor Man Book II" qualify as soaps?
@Paul Raven I just created a Kimberly Beck thread in that forum. Check it out.

Kimberly Beck
@SoapDope78 @vetsoapfan @Broderick @Vee @DRW50 @SoapDope78 @Chris 2 @Paul Raven On the whole, have you liked or disliked Kimberly Beck as an actress? Did she fare that badly as Julie Clegg on Capitol? Did she fare that badly as Samantha Livingstone on General Hospital? How did Kimberly fare as Claire Prentice on Dynasty? Should she be ashamed of her performance as Trish Jarvis in the slasher movie Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter? Should Kim have had a better showbiz career than she wound up having?

Did "Rich Man, Poor Man" and "Rich Man, Poor Man Book II" qualify as soaps?
@vetsoapfan Was Kim Schuster really deaf? Also, vetsoapfan, have you seen Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter? Kimberly Beck was that movie's leading lady.

Did "Rich Man, Poor Man" and "Rich Man, Poor Man Book II" qualify as soaps?
@DeeVee Well, DeeVee, do you think the late William Smith was great as Falconetti?
-
Did "Rich Man, Poor Man" and "Rich Man, Poor Man Book II" qualify as soaps?
@DeeVee Well, I can't say that Rich Man, Poor Man Book II was a ratings flop. Sure, it didn't reach the blockbuster levels of its predecessor, but it still finished the 1976-77 television season in 21st place as far as the Nielsen ratings were concerned. It's my understanding that TPTB were willing to do a third Rich Man, Poor Man miniseries, but Peter Strauss vetoed that idea. However, I do admit that the original Rich Man, Poor Man TV miniseries was a tough act to follow. @vetsoapfan How do you think Kimberly Beck fared as Julie Clegg on Capitol? Do you think her replacement Catherine Hickland was any better? Do you think Capitol was beyond saving? You might want to read this piece by Connie Passalacqua Hayman. By the way, vetsoapfan, do you even vaguely remember a short-lived Saturday-morning TV series from 1975 called Westwind? Nineteen-year-old Kimberly Beck regularly appeared as the daughter on that show, and it's my understanding that she did a lot of her own scuba diving for it. It's my understanding that she wore a wetsuit on Westwind. 😜

Did "Rich Man, Poor Man" and "Rich Man, Poor Man Book II" qualify as soaps?
@vetsoapfan You have to excuse me, vetsoapfan. Even though I have yet to properly watch Rich Man, Poor Man Book II for myself, I have become very interested in Kimberly Beck, who had a significant role on that miniseries. The aforementioned Facebook friend of mine has told me that Kim was very good on it. Did you catch any part of Kimberly's 1982-83 stint as Julie Clegg on Capitol? How about her four-episode stint as Claire Prentice on Dynasty during the 1986-87 season? How about her 1975 stint as Samantha Livingstone on General Hospital? Less than a year after leaving Capitol, she appeared as Trish Jarvis in the hit slasher movie Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Curiously, Kimberly never appeared on any Quinn Martin TV series, not even Barnaby Jones. Why was that? Another World alum Susan Sullivan, who played Kim's mother on Rich Man, Poor Man Book II, appeared in two episodes of Barnaby Jones. Even Robin Mattson guest-starred on Barnaby Jones as well as on the short-lived QM series Operation: Runaway before she began appearing as Heather Webber on General Hospital. Heck, Robin even appeared in an episode of the Bill Bixby TV series The Incredible Hulk. Kimberly never did despite being a Universal Studios contract player during the 1970s. Did Kim dislike the general horror genre that much before she did Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter? By the way, Robin Mattson left the role of Heather Webber on GH at the same basic time that Kimberly Beck left the role of Julie Clegg on Capitol. I wonder if Robin was considered as a replacement for Kim on Capitol.

Did "Rich Man, Poor Man" and "Rich Man, Poor Man Book II" qualify as soaps?
@vetsoapfan A certain Facebook friend of mine has told me the following regarding Rich Man, Poor Man Book II:
