Primetime Soaps
@Chris B Why? Remember that scene where Kim Schuster secretly witnessed Joe Chernak (Don Quine) getting fatally injured in a fall?

Primetime Soaps
Should a Peyton Place reboot feature a new version of the Kim Schuster character that Kimberly Beck played on the original TV series?

Any Capitol Fans Here?
@John I have recently said the following: @DRW50 @SoapDope78 Can someone possibly tell me when Kimberly Beck's final scenes as Julie Clegg aired? By the way, I came across this 1982 video interview with Kimberly Beck and Debrah Farentino today.

ALL: Returns That Fizzled
@Vee Jamey Giddens, who at least used to do stuff for Daytime Confidential, thought that Patch and Kayla's 2006 return to the Days canvas stunk big time. Patch's casket had been switched at a 1990 funeral, had it not?

GH: Classic Thread
@FrenchFan No offense, but this article basically indicates that it was Kimberly Beck, not Marla Pennington, who initially played Samantha Livingstone on GH in 1975. However, it's my understanding that Pennington did replace Beck somewhere down the line. I don't know Beck's reason(s) for leaving the show. Yes, I am aware that Pennington was let go along with a bunch of other GH cast members (including future Hill Street Blues regular James Sikking) in early 1976. The 1975-76 period may have been a particularly rough one for GH, but I still find it unfortunate that most (if not all) of the GH episodes from that period have been "wiped." *sigh*

Any Capitol Fans Here?
@Broderick You mean the writing for Capitol was painfully mediocre overall? Do you think it's just as well that Kimberly Beck appeared in the slasher movie Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter in the spring of 1984 instead of on Capitol? (Um, when did Beck's final scenes on Capitol air?) It's very much worth noting that Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert hated The Final Chapter back in '84. In fact, Siskel and Ebert hated the Friday the 13th feature film franchise in general during the first half of the '80s.

Eight Is Enough
@SoapDope78 Have you seen a 1991 episode of the Michael Chiklis TV series The Commish known as "Behind the Storm Door"? I can't say I have, but Kimberly Beck's in it. A certain Facebook friend of mine has told me that she essentially plays "a crazy woman stalker." When you get a chance, check out this relevant link. By the way, I legitimately own Making of a Male Model on DVD.

Any Capitol Fans Here?
I wonder what the legendary Michael Logan, who at least used to write about daytime soap operas for TV Guide, has thought of Capitol. I wonder if he has had an opinion of Kimberly Beck's work on the show.

Swooon: "Top 23 Soap Opera Romances of All-Time, Ranked"
Um, how come Santa Barbara's Cruz and Eden aren't on this list? How come All My Children's Jesse and Angie aren't on the list? I can't say it doesn't bother me that the entry about AMC's Greg and Jenny doesn't bring up Liza Colby.

Any Capitol Fans Here?
@Broderick Are you at least somewhat familiar with Santa Barbara? If so, do you think it was much better than Capitol overall? John Conboy did have a stint as executive producer of Santa Barbara in the early '90s.

Any Capitol Fans Here?
In this 1985 article, John Conboy admits that David Mason Daniels was a wonderful human being. However, Conboy also essentially says that Daniels was a stiff actor. No offense, but is it safe to say that Daniels and his Tyler character were forced down viewers' throats? The actor was given three years to catch on, for crying out. Um, is it too harsh to say that David Mason Daniels was the Roman Reigns of daytime-soap actors back in the '80s?

GH: Classic Thread
@vetsoapfan @depboy As far as GH was concerned, was the Samantha Livingstone character always on the back burner? Future Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter star Kimberly Beck had a brief stint as Samantha in 1975. Future Small Wonder regular Marla Pennington succeeded Beck as Samantha, but she was let go along with a bunch of other GH cast members in early 1976. I presume that most (if not all) of the GH episodes featuring the Samantha Livingstone character have been "wiped." *sigh*

Eight Is Enough
Should Eight Is Enough fans be glad that Ralph Macchio's Jeremy Andretti character is not brought up in this video? Also, how did Eight Is Enough compare to Family, the 1976-80 Aaron Spelling TV series that had Kristy McNichol as a regular cast member? People might want to check out this blog commentary by James M. Tate. Curiously, Kimberly Beck never appeared on Family even though she appeared in the Eight Is Enough pilot as well as on various other Aaron Spelling TV shows (Dynasty, Fantasy Island, T.J. Hooker, etc.).

Any Capitol Fans Here?
Kimberly Beck had no storyline of her own as Samantha Livingstone on General Hospital, did she? Given the time period, I presume that most (if not all) of Beck's GH episodes have been "wiped." *sigh*

Eight Is Enough
@Chris 2 I know that the proposed Fantasy Island spinoff in question was supposed to be aimed at youngsters. However, was the spinoff series in question supposed to air on Saturday mornings? During the 1975-76 television season, Kimberly Beck co-starred on Westwind, a live-action TV series filmed in Hawaii that aired Saturday mornings. It's my understanding that Beck did a lot of her own scuba diving for Westwind. It's also my understanding that Westwind did all right in the ratings but was canceled after 13 episodes due to high production costs. @SoapDope78 Which types of roles do you think Kimberly Beck fit?

Eight Is Enough
@SoapDope78 Have you seen the 1976 movie Massacre at Central High? Kimberly Beck's in that one. I hope to properly watch that flick myself someday. Can you imagine Beck as an angry, troubled young woman who is questioned by the cops about a serious crime of some kind? I personally find it disappointing that Beck never made a guest appearance on a Quinn Martin TV series such as Barnaby Jones or The Streets of San Francisco? Even though Beck was a Universal Studios contract player during the 1970s, she curiously never appeared on Kojak, The Rockford Files, Baretta, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, McCloud, Columbo, Battlestar Galactica, The Incredible Hulk, or Quincy, M.E. Even though her famous singer-stepfather Tommy Leonetti appeared in one episode of the original Hawaii Five-O TV series, Beck herself never appeared in any episodes of the original Hawaii Five-O TV series. It's possible for a gal to be a good actress without being star material. Do you think that was the case for Kimberly Beck? Did she qualify as a character actress in your book?

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Kimberly Beck of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter fame has never appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, has she? For a time, she was related to both Kim Richards and Kyle Richards by marriage. In fact, the 1979 Fantasy Island episode "Cornelius and Alphonse/The Choice" had both Kimberly Beck and Kyle Richards. Beck appeared in a 1987 episode of L.A. Law, which starred Lisa Rinna's husband Harry Hamlin. (For the record, the L.A. Law episode in question is known as "December Bride.") Eileen Davidson's current husband is Vincent Van Patten, son of the late Dick Van Patten. Beck played Nancy Bradford in the pilot for Dick Van Patten's TV dramedy series Eight Is Enough.
